Who says green and sustainable design has to look like it? Designed to emulate the owner’s favorite country club, this fine estate home blends in with the natural surroundings of it’s hillside perch, and is so intoxicatingly beautiful, one hardly notices its numerous energy saving and green features.
Durable, natural and handsome materials such as stained cedar trim, natural stone veneer, and integral color plaster are combined with strong horizontal roof lines that emphasize the expansive nature of the site and capture the “bigness” of the view. Large expanses of glass punctuated with a natural rhythm of exposed beams and stone columns that frame the spectacular views of the Santa Clara Valley and the Los Gatos Hills.
A shady outdoor loggia and cozy outdoor fire pit create the perfect environment for relaxed Saturday afternoon barbecues and glitzy evening dinner parties alike. A glass “wall of wine” creates an elegant backdrop for the dining room table, the warm stained wood interior details make the home both comfortable and dramatic.
The project’s energy saving features include:
- a 5 kW roof mounted grid-tied PV solar array pays for most of the electrical needs, and sends power to the grid in summer 6 year payback!
- all native and drought-tolerant landscaping reduce irrigation needs
- passive solar design that reduces heat gain in summer and allows for passive heating in winter
- passive flow through ventilation provides natural night cooling, taking advantage of cooling summer breezes
- natural day-lighting decreases need for interior lighting
- fly ash concrete for all foundations
- dual glazed low e high performance windows and doors

A hallway was notched out of the large master bedroom suite space, connecting all three rooms in the suite. Since there were no closets in the bedroom, spacious "his and hers" closets were added to the hallway. A crystal chandelier continues the elegance and echoes the crystal chandeliers in the bathroom and bedroom.

Rear hallway provides a drop-zone for organizing jackets and backpacks, with access to the large laundry/utility room.

Museum Console Table elevates age-old Italian craftsmanship to brilliant stylistic heights with its unique silhouette and use of timeless materials. Designed by Andrea Lucatello for Cattelan Italia and manufactured in Italy, Museum Console features a white Carrara marble or travertine cylinder complimented by varnished steel, copper, white or graphite lacquered steel structure. Museum Console Table is further enhanced by its availability in four sizes and its clear tempered glass top that denotes a perfect view of the base.

Clients wanted their new loft to have a modern feel that incorporated some of their existing pieces. We went with a classic color combo of black, white and red. With concrete floors and brick walls we wanted to warm up the space with a few walnut pieces throughout. With most lofts, space planning can be a challenge. We wanted enough seating without cluttering up the spatially challenged loft. We went with a very versatile sofa with removable/re-positionable backs to allow for larger gatherings in need of more seating. The dining area we equipped with a full bar cabinet, a sideboard for storage and ability to serve a buffet. Refinished antique table and chairs is the center of attention. We did two large matching chandeliers to enhance the 14 foot ceilings. Overall we kept the space open and functional.
An elegant living room furnished with high-end pieces that are classic and last a lifetime. Custom drapery, upholstery, feather filled pillows and luxurious area rugs add the warmth and elegance to this space. A small vignette off the front hall of this home.
