Headed by Architect Ricardo Alvarez-Diaz and Interior Designer, Cristina Villalon, Alvarez-Diaz & Villalon® has a commonality of purpose in all of their work: to translate a client’s individuality into impeccable world class design. After graduating from the University of Notre Dame in 1995, Alvarez-Diaz began his career working for renowned Architect Robert A.M. Stern in New York City, designing houses for celebrity clients. After completing her bachelor's degree in Art History at Pitzer College in Claremont, CA, Cristina went on to complete a Master of Science degree in Interior Design from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. After collaborating successfully for many years, the married duo decided to merge efforts to create a full-service firm in order to better serve their wide-ranging clientele. With over 50+ years of combined experience, their team of architects and designers is well versed in any project type and size. Their approach is holistic, environmentally-responsible and customer-centric. Every client has a story to tell. AD&V takes pride in translating a client's individual vision into beautiful, rich, functional spaces. With offices in San Juan, Puerto Rico and Miami, Florida; Alvarez-Diaz & Villalon® has become one of the most innovative architecture and interior design firms in the region. As a professional within the design community I have the opportunity to work with designers on a daily basis. With the team at ADV however it is a true pleasure. The years of combined experience , drive, exploration and overall love for design is infectious. From contract installations to the luxurious world of private residences ADV has always exhibited a professional experience while working with me to achieve the clients needs. Their unique opportunity to share a world approach to design and business make them an invaluable connection to any project. Alvarez-Diaz designed my house, hired, managed and supervised a team of engineers and contractors who built my house ($1-2M) in the mountains of PR, and Villalon was my interior designer. They were also in charge of permitting, not an easy task in PR. Not many people are aware of the complexities of permitting in the bizarre and bureaucratic world of PR gov't. agencies, and finding someone who masters its complexities is essential to the success of any project. They're professionals and artists in the truest sense of the word. But what's more important, they have this ability to translate your wishes and dreams into their designs, while veering you away from things that don't make aesthetic sense or are just plain foolish from an economic perspective. The best evidence that I made the right decision when I hired them is that my kids (teenagers) want to stay home with their friends and enjoy the house.

I have had the distinct pleasure to work with Cristina Villalon on several projects, one for my own residence and then for my business. The level of professionalism from the entire firm is outstanding, from the planning and design phase to the installation and final detail touches that sets the Alvarez-Diaz & Villalon firm apart from others. Our organization just hired them again for two additional project we are planning in 2015.

We met with Christina and Ricardo in September 2013 and immediately knew we found the right team for our remodel in Ocean Park. We contracted a complete renovation inside and out including landscaping and a redesign and rebuild of the outside enclosure. Since this is our vacation home, we were working with them mostly from Boston and they were always available whenever we came down for a visit. The whole team is to be applauded as they did all the design work and oversaw the whole project while working admirably with our contractor. We are thrilled with our new home and our relationship with The Alvarez-Diaz & Villalon Team.

I hired this company for a full design of my house, which was going to be built in an empty land lot. In terms of the designing process, it was methodical, organised and well balanced between me and my wife's preferences but including expert knowledge and recommendations from ADV. In terms of final design papers, as per my contractor, they were the best his ever seen - detailed, precise and well documented. As a whole working with ADV in the design of our first house, was truly a great experience and the results were excellent.

Our company has worked with Alvarez-Diaz and Villalon on a number of projects. Each experience has been an absolute pleasure. We deal with hundreds of design firms and their professionalism and efficiency puts them in a league of their own. They exemplify what every firm should aspire to be. They are organized and assertive. I would gladly recommend this firm for any size project and rest easy that it will be done right from conception to completion.
