The ancient Japanese art of shibori is a resist dyeing technique commonly used to decorate silk or cotton found on Obi’s and Kimonos. Shibori textiles have put their own spin on the technique applying it to different materials such as upholstery fabrics, wood, wallpaper and leather. While modern technology assists design applications to material printing transfer, all shibori leather stays with the tradition and is hand dyed using Shibori textile’s own methods. Leather is a unique material as it is not like fabric with a warp and a weft but rather has the quality of skin and each individual skin grabs the dye giving more definition and room for spontaneous design. All shibori leather is dyed in house from their Sydney studio using the highest quality Italian leather. The leather used is suitable for medium to high traffic areas and is marine grade quality used in both commercial and residential applications. Shibori’s techniques are original and not done anywhere else. Each piece is touched by hand, making no two pieces the same. The leathers are waxed and sealed with a solution to waterproof and protect the leather leaving it lustrous and soft.

For the design of this beautiful home, our St. Pete studio used a variety of wallpapers in beautiful prints and patterns to create a modern, stylish, and sophisticated space. Thoughtful artworks adorn these walls providing curious points of interest throughout the home. Each area has a unique lighting piece adding a touch of classy elegance. In the bathroom, we added a pale green palette to create an airy, spa-like vibe. For this stunning home, our St. Pete studio created a bold, bright, balanced design plan to invoke a sophisticated vibe. Our love for the color blue was included in the carefully planned color scheme of the home. We added a gorgeous blue and white rug in the entryway to create a fabulous first impression. The adjacent living room got soft blue accents creating a cozy ambience. In the formal dining area, we added a beautiful wallpaper with fun prints to complement the stylish furniture. Another lovely wallpaper with fun blue and yellow details creates a cheerful ambience in the breakfast corner near the beautiful kitchen. The bedrooms have a neutral palette creating an elegant and relaxing vibe. This client wanted a dining room with a "wow factor", that was cohesive with the rest of the home's new refresh. Incorporating Damask wallpaper and a new tray ceiling color did just that. :). Unfortunately, the new light fixture didn't make it in time for the photo shoot... it is on back order, however, both USI and the client felt it was worth the wait verses selecting something else, because it is going to finish this space wonderfully. We hope you can still appreciate the beautiful transformation.
