This friendly family room area has an 'under the sea' feeling, with blue painted beadboard as a backdrop for fun aquatic decor. Linen slipcovers protect the furniture and add to the laid-back beach house charm. Color, playfulness and whimsy combine to create a casual, welcoming summer retreat for empty nesters who still tell us that when they walk through the door they say “Aaahhh” to themselves. WKD took one large room and created 4 different zones: an airy and bright living room area for conversation, a cozy family room area for reading, a dining room area for family meals, and a game table area for games. Monrovia residence in old world oranges and greens transformed to light and airy lakeside grays and nautical blues. A fresh and affordable update to worn carpeting is done by layering a soft jute 8x10 rug with an angled cabana striped rug to give a seaside design. A fun rowboat shelf from etsy adds whimsy and functionality to the room. Extra large Pottery Barn blown glass lamps add a nice face lift to the clients existing end tables. Fun accents such as a ball of oyster shells and a striped pom-pom throw bring a fun and relaxed lakeside design.

A neutral color palette punctuated by warm wood tones and large windows create a comfortable, natural environment that combines casual southern living with European coastal elegance. The 10-foot tall pocket doors leading to a covered porch were designed in collaboration with the architect for seamless indoor-outdoor living. Decorative house accents including stunning wallpapers, vintage tumbled bricks, and colorful walls create visual interest throughout the space. I know I shouldn't do this because we're not done and the drapes haven't even arrived, but I'm spitting into the wind with these dramatic before and after's. Here we've changed the wall paint from a "dull", pale gray to bright Ivory. "Gray's" not for everyone and from the moment Deanna painted it, she told me she immediately regretted it, but didn't have a solution. We then added built in's under the windows that flank the FP. With some help from, "Hippos" we moved the TV over the FP and changed out the carpet, replaced the dreary and tired upholstery with two new and much larger, Beige sofas with cheerful pillows in Deannas favorite color combinations and well, of course those fabulous Roman Shades! We will be adding the drapes (as soon as they arrive) a new coffee table and end/occasional tables. Even so, it's a huge improvement and now such a cheerful space. Stay tuned for more to come and we've barely touched on the Kitchens transformation

This cottage on Delavan Lake, Wis. was transformed! We added a 2nd story bedroom, porch, patio and screened-in porch. The homeowners have plenty of space to entertain while enjoying the outdoors and views of the lake.
