Kindra was exactly what we needed to help us pull together a more contemporary and coastal vibe for our 1990's kitchen and family room. We hired Kindra after we had settled on design and cabinets for our kitchen renovation. Her paint, backsplash, flooring and breakfast room furniture options were spot on which made the selection process quick and stress-free. Her family room design was perfect for visually broadening the long narrow room. In addition, she put together a gallery wall to complement a very large, black and white, line drawn piece of art that we love. We couldn't be happier with the final product and love both rooms. Kindra, listens to your ideas, has plenty of her own, and knows where to find what you want. She'll present her own thoughts, but also ultimately knows that it's your house and you'll need to be happy in it. I'm very happy in my redecorated home thanks to Kindra's keen eye and ideas.

Kindra was incredible to work with! From the time we first met her, to all the way even after our project was completed, she was kind, courteous, and available. She assessed in our initial meeting that while we had some idea of what we wanted, her role was one of a facilitator - someone who could help us conceptualize our vision. Kindra was such a pleasure to work with! She transformed the living room, dining room, and half bath in our previously dark, cavernous, antiquey Old Town Alexandria townhouse into a bright, relaxing, and more modern space that we LOVE to spend time in now. Her sense of style is clean, fresh, and fun. She helped recommend new paint colors, fabric colors and textures, and accentuating accessories like baskets for our bookshelves, plants to liven up the rooms, creative light fixtures, and options for wall art. She was an expert in achieving the perfect balance between meeting our vision and meeting our budget. She had excellent recommendations on where we should invest in long-term pieces versus pieces that could accommodate family messes (like a less expensive rug and a slipcover couch for the living room in case our toddler spilled something on them). She was also skilled at finding high quality items - like our dining room chairs from Arhaus - on sale to manage the cost/quality equation. Her design worked in furniture and accessories we already owned and loved, which is not easy. She offered great advice on which pieces to keep and which would not fit with our vision. Best of all, when we were crushed with a busy work schedule, Kindra came and set up the rooms, including assembling and hanging light fixtures, setting up the plants, and arranging a photo collage she had designed with our existing pictures and frames she repainted. Kindra is the best! We love the spaces she created for us and we loved working with her. She will be our go-to designer when we are ready to tackle other projects in the house.

ACE Engineering & Construction hired Village and Coast LLC to design our new 5,000 square feet house. Kindra gave her expert opinion any time we asked her. She was fun and easy to work with. We'd hire her again for our next project in a heartbeat.

I recently completed another project with Kindra at Village & Coast and once again, I could not be more pleased with the finished product! We needed help updating our family room which was in need of some attention. In particular, we were stumped with what to do with our out-of-date, red/orange brick fireplace and its ‘80’s looking brass fireplace screen. The one thing we knew we wanted was to get rid of two large built-in bookcases that flanked the fireplace and overpowered our family room. Kindra came to look at the room and asked questions to determine how we anticipate using the space, etc. The final design Kindra came up with was fantastic! Her design not only created a more open, airy feel, but also lightened the room which it definitely needed. Kindra suggested painting our fireplace a matte white and painting the brass fireplace screen black. Her design included replacing our existing built-in bookcases with beautiful walnut floating shelves and white base cabinets with walnut tops to match the floating shelves. Additionally, she recommended replacing our mantle with a thick, rich walnut mantle that would complement the floating shelves/base cabinets. The project took longer than expected to complete (contractor delays), but Kindra was there every step of the way. She was wonderful with the outside contractors needed to bring her vision to life -- always available to make a house call to answer questions and offer suggestions to make sure everything came together perfectly. Kindra spent many hours helping me select fabric for the sofa we decided to reupholster and patiently worked with me to find flooring after I second guessed my initial choice. Thanks to Kindra’s amazing design sense, attention to detail and knack for finding perfect accessories to complement a room; our dated, dark family room has been transformed into a gorgeous, modern and light-filled space that brings me joy every time I am in it. Kindra is absolutely the best! I already have other projects in mind for Kindra and can’t wait to work with her again!

Kindra at Village and Coast designed our new basement. She was fun and easy to work with, and her expertise is obvious - she designed a space that looks great, but feels right too. I appreciate that she's willing to tell us if she thinks something we ask for is wrong, but still incorporate it as best as possible... and always with a smile. My husband and I bought our first house in March 2019 and we used the services of Village and Coast, LLC to decorate the house. Kindra was just who I needed to keep myself grounded financially and pull my reno together style wise. I find shopping for "generic" items like a dining table to be overwhelming. The options are endless! and the price ranges are huge! Kindra knows where to look and pulls a room together for various sites and sources. I could find a dining table, but then chairs that "match," ugh unlikely. Kindra did the searching and suggested a whole room at a time. She easily incorporated the few pieces I already had, wanted to use and mixed them with new items. If there was an item I wasn't thrilled with Kindra was very approachable, open to suggestions or ready to hunt for something else. She was easy to communicate with and very responsive to texts and phone calls. The reno took longer than estimated, due to contractor delays (normal). Thank goodness Kindra was flexible and was ready when I was. We wrapped the project in March 2019. My family and i are so happy with the results especially the design elements! We have a beautiful, pulled together, updated first floor. Oh and she can hang a picture like no one else I know! Fast, level and evenly spaced! I will continue to recommend Kindra to my friends and family. I would also hire her again!

Kindra is an exceptional designer. She took the time to get to know me and my style. I asked a lot of her, starting with finding paint colors for every room of my 3 level four bedroom townhouse, followed by decorating the entry, powder room, master bedroom, kitchen, dining and living room. Kindra listened to me and selected furniture, colors, and decor that represented the style and feeling that I wanted in my home. Everything she does is with intent and she impacts and balances the room in ways only a true professional would know how to. Kindra was so easy to work with. She is professional, yet still fun. She was very accommodating when I wanted to change or add pieces during our project. With each change, she would update my idea board so that I could see how all the pieces would look together. She worked carefully to make sure we were happy with furniture pieces, paint colors, decor ideas and room layouts. I would definitely use Kindra’s services again.

My husband and I hired Village and Coast to design our living room and dining room in our new home. Kindra was highly professional and prepared for all of our discussions. She gathered our input on general direction for what we were looking for and was able to create a vision for us to clearly see before we got started. For our dining room she worked with a custom cabin maker to have a piece created that brought together our existing table and chairs with the additional pieces needed. It took me a long time (and several bad interior design experiences) before I found Kindra ( Village and Coast LLC). Kinda is able to pull together a room that looks amazing for any budget. She understood (completely ) what I was looking for - from our first meeting - and stayed completely within my budget. She has completed 3 projects for us: Dining Room, Family Room, Teenage Boy bedroom. I highly recommend her services and look forward to working with her on many more.

I contacted Village and Coast to help me update my living and dining room. I wasn't in the market for new furniture or rugs, but hoped I could update the space with new paint, window treatments and artwork. Completely at a loss as to how to begin, I contacted Village and Coast for help. I am so grateful I found Kindra at Village and Coast. She is absolutely amazing! She came to my house to look at the space and asked a lot of questions to get a sense of my design style/budget. We met again a week or two later to review the design board she created that highlighted new paint colors, window treatments, artwork and accessories for the space. Not only was everything Kindra proposed exactly my style, but the window treatments and artwork/accessories Kindra proposed were reasonably priced. Kindra was very conscientious throughout the process to make sure we were getting the biggest bang for our buck and not breaking the bank. After the rooms were painted in their beautiful, new colors, Kindra came over and put in all the furnishings. The finished rooms look better than I could have ever dreamed! The transformation is unbelievable! Kindra is incredibly talented, professional and has savvy design sense. After one meeting, Kindra had a vision for how the two spaces could look, and then flawlessly brought that vision to fruition. She turned two hardly used, outdated rooms into beautiful and inviting spaces that look like something straight out of a magazine. I could not be more pleased with Village and Coast and am anxious to work with Kindra again!

Kindra has been a life saver! We purchased a new home and really wanted to add color and patterns to the rooms. After an initial consult to discuss our "vision", she came to the house with samples and a computer presentation. We were able to make decisions quickly based off of her recommendations. We also wanted a Minecraft theme for our sons room, not only did she come up with an amazing idea, she provided the paint services herself. Her prices are extremely reasonable and she is an absolute pleasure to work with. We appreciated her honesty and her knowledge. We have to say we are highly impressed with the professionalism, timeliness, and quality of work that we received from Village & Coast. The preparation and the installation of the wooden shelves was greatly impressive. We were also pleasantly surprised by the way the TV was remounted with the wires completely hidden from view. The team put together other items such as sofa, the over-hanging kitchen item, and others without a flaw. We wanted a beach theme for the living room and it is exactly what we ended up with! We highly recommend this company. Also, when we raised a concern, it was handled expeditiously and to our satisfaction. Great job!

I engaged Kindra this Spring to help me with updating my entire home. I explained that this would be a long term project, as every room needs to be updated. Our house is a small rambler, built in the 1950s, that felt cramped and crowded. With a small foot print, we struggled to find the right proportions and scale. After our initial consultation, Kindra suggested we start with the main living areas, living room and sunroom. She helped me select hardwood flooring and paint colors to give my home the coastal feel I wanted. Understanding I wanted to maximize my project budget, she has provided exciting ideas on revamping existing furniture, recommended new pieces that don't break the bank, and masterfully incorporated the mish-mash of family pieces my husband and I have collected. Kindra approaches each project in a very organized fashion, providing eye catching vision boards for each room with detailed item lists to choose from. An excellent listener, she picks up on the subtle things to help you achieve the look and feel you want. She is also not afraid to let you know when you might be heading off track. When I asked about incorporating a favorite chair style from my broke college days, she gently explained that it didn't fit with the vision I had shared. A few days later she recommended similar chairs that were more fitting with what I want. Working with Kindra has been a rewarding collaboration. Our home has become a sanctuary, completely unrecognizable from the hot mess it was before. We are looking forward to working with her to update the rest of our space.
