My wife and I live in Tokyo where we recently bought land, tore down the existing house and built a new home. Initially we started working with one of the major house builders, but were frustrated by the false choice, lack of flexibility and customization. However, we soon switched to working with home builder, Kaja Design (Mr. Yusuke Serizawa), their interior designer, Hiromi Watanabe, and their recommended architect, Mr. Takaharu Wada of W.D.A. Architects, resulting in us being able to build our dream home in the exact style and design we wanted for essentially the same price as a "regular" house from one of the major home builders. Kaja Design, Kaja and W.D.A. were all excellent to work with and cared as much as we did about creating exactly what we wanted. The outcome exceeded our expectations and the entire process, though a lot of work, was a pleasure, which is no doubt unusual in the home building process.
