Studio Dearborn

After months of following Studio Dearborn on Houzz and Instagram, I reached out to Sarah for a design consultation and review of our kitchen cabinet layout design. We sent over our kitchen elevation drawings along with a floor plan of our house and discussed each view. The takeaway ideas from our meeting was so much more than I had expected! I thought we had a an almost "finalized" kitchen cabinet layout, but after our meeting, I realized that we had overlooked or not even considered a lot of items that Sarah and I discussed. These items would have bothered us in the future, had we not spoke to Sarah. Our consultation definitely went beyond the layout and aesthetics of the kitchen. Her advice really does consider how the end user will really USE the kitchen!

I recently worked with Sarah on a consult regarding our kitchen remodel. We had preliminary elevations which i sent to her along with other questions. She was able to offer insightful advice by making lots of small suggestions that will really be impactful on the overall flow and aesthetic of our new kitchen. Her attention to the small details makes it obvious that she really thinks through the way people truly use their kitchens. We can't wait to see how the final kitchen turns out!

We had a VERY positive experience with Sarah Robertson from Studio Dearborn. She brought our ideas to life and was able to create the kitchen of our dreams. She was precise with her measurements, has a great eye for design, is a creative problem solver, easy to work with, professional and personal and above all, she is a great person! The cabinetry that she uses is of the highest quality and Sarah and her cabinetry partners take a lot of pride in their work. Sarah introduced us to Renovation Angel and through them we were able to donate our kitchen to them so that it could be re-used by another homeowner. Her idea books and portfolio are thorough, organized and easy to use. Sarah always made herself available to speak, to visit the kitchen both during the planning process and throughout the renovation. We had a lot of comfort knowing that she was always around during the process. We worked with a contractor that was recommended by Sarah and the process could not have gone any smoother. Her leadership and client services skills were excellent--she regularly coordinated with us about the process and timelines and she would separately be in touch with our contractor to discuss the more technical components of the project. She was invested in the project and the finished product as much as we were. We really appreciated this part of working with Sarah. Sarah is also a valuable design resource. She provided us valuable input regarding appliances, tile, lighting, plumbing and many other re-modeling decisions. Last point, while Sarah is the consummate professional, we ended up spending a fair amount of time with her throughout this process. As good as a kitchen designer that she is (and WOW, she’s good!), she is an even better person. Her heart is in all the rights places. Glad we found her and proud to have a Studio Dearborn kitchen in our home!

I have been researching houzz extensively for design ideas for updating my kitchen. I fell in love with one of Sarah's projects. This led me to look through all of her posted projects and she does some beautiful work! As I browsed through the comments sections, I was very impressed with how she answers each question. You can tell she goes above and beyond to help people. I reached out to her for information for my project and she quickly gave me assistance. Sarah was a pleasure to work with. This was not only my experience but also the experience of my contractor and designer. She treated my kitchen project with the care and precision as if it were her own with attention to every detail. When I wanted a sink that was unobtainable, she designed a sink with the specifications of what I was searching for. The sink is amazing and I learned she entered the sink into a contest and it was a finalist! She really listened to my vision and made every effort to make it happen. The end result was a wonderful one and she stands by her product.

I found Sarah through Houzz, drawn to the aesthetics of all her kitchen projects, so I reached out as soon as we closed on a fixer upper. She was so helpful, passing along recommendations for architects and educating me on the process. And then we realized we'd be neighbors, so it felt destined that we'd work together. The process from start to finish reinforced what a professional she is. Her understanding of space and proportion, her eye for details that make a kitchen extraordinary, her in-the-moment creative solutions to unexpected issues that inevitably come up during renovation, and her dedication to only deliver perfect craftsmanship - this is what makes her an amazing partner when you're trying to make your dream kitchen a reality. Sarah is a talented designer and is incredibly easy to work with. I wanted to expand our kitchen and her instincts and vision were spot on from the beginning. She has an incredible eye for detail and creative in her solutions. (She built a custom space for our food waste.) The cabinetry is top notch. My kitchen is very organized now thanks to her. Sarah didn’t stop at cabinetry. I consulted her on tile, lighting, chairs and kitchen table. She even came with me to multiple places to look at countertops. Sarah's own award-winning kitchen inspired the tile and paint choices for the kitchenette/bar and laundry room areas in our basement renovation. I emailed Sarah to ask for specific advice about grouting marble tile and about paint color. She responded immediately with very detailed suggestions. Her expert advice gave me the confidence to ask the trades we are working with for exactly the look we wanted to achieve, and the roadmap to get there! Sarah is not only an artist at what she does, but she is incredibly generous with her time and with sharing her expertise.

Sarah worked with us on our complete gut renovation of our kitchen. We spent months meeting and planning and she truly helped us create the space of our dreams. Sarah is passionate about her work, extremely creative, and always up for a challenge! She is not afraid to try new things and push the limits to achieve a stunning design. She was extremely thorough and gave us great suggestions and also listened to what we truly wanted the most and helped us achieve our vision. We couldn't be happier with the finished product and highly recommend Sarah! Her gorgeous high quality cabinets have transformed our kitchen into the most beautiful, organized room in our house!

We loved working with Sarah on the design of our kitchen, living room built-ins and fireplace mantle. Sarah combines a keen eye for detail with a big picture perspective to develop a space that is nothing short of practical, functional and beautiful. If you are considering working with Sarah, we cannot stress enough that you will not find a more professional, creative, and patient designer to work with than Sarah!! Our project posed some particularly difficult challenges. One challenge is the tiny size of our kitchen. The second challenge is she needed to design for a tiny cook who is under 5 ft tall. But the most difficult challenge is that Sarah had to design a kitchen remotely using pictures and measurements we provided. We live in California and Sarah is in New York. Sarah was able to master those challenges with ease! Not only is our kitchen stunningly beautiful but it is also highly functional! Sarah utilized every inch of space in our kitchen to perfection. The craftsmanship of the cabinets is outstanding with custom-made storage that was so needed in this tiny kitchen. Sarah had us move the window to the center of the room to amplify natural light, had steps installed under the cabinets and island for the tiny cook, added an area for our daughter’s baking needs, added a compost drawer for us hippie Californians and most impressive she designed a gorgeous built-in cabinet that bumps out into the garage. This cabinet serves as our built-in pantry with a spot for a microwave at the tiny cook's height and a Docking Drawer to power our phones and laptops, finally providing us with a pantry in our kitchen after 25 years of doing without one. Sarah was able to meet our storage needs in a tiny space while making our kitchen look spacious and absolutely stunning!!
