Garnet: This is the second renovation I have done with Preferred Builders and I am so very happy! I was first referred to Preferred Builders by my tax preparer, Happily, my first repair/remodel turned out wonderfully so I immediately started a remodel on my own home. Scope of work: remove all the carpeting in the house and install laminate plank flooring in those areas. The travertine flooring in the entry, kitchen and hallway had large craters which collected dirt and water residue after washing. I had the floor steamed, the craters filled and the whole floor resealed. I had a gasline installed in the kitchen and a new gas oven installed. I also had a complete bathroom remodel which included removing a huge jacuzzi tub and installing an elegant and safe walk in shower. For the bathroom Nir listened to my concerns and needs and then gave me two 3-D renderings of my options. Elba was fabulous and fast with permits, a purchase list and provided weekly job schedules and updates. I have now completed this remodel and I can’t be happier. My Preferred Builders team was pure gold! I highly recommend Nir, Elba and Orel, the Foreman. Orel was caring and his experience was invaluable, Roman, (drywall, moldings, paint, flooring) Carlo (beautiful tile work) and Abnir were all professional, caring and kind. I definitely recommend Preferred and I already have. .

I will start by saying we were in the process of a flood repair with a contractor from hell. It was then that my tax preparer recommended Preferred Builders, specifically Nir and Elba and the team. Happily, my remodel turned around with my first phone call and subsequent meeting. We met with Nir, he listened carefully to our needs and within 48 hrs he had our upstairs primary bathroom, bedrooms and downstairs areas pictured in 3D. We went over our project, showed him sample tiles and flooring and the next rendering had our material choices pictured. We were provided with a purchase list for needed materials, and every Friday, Elba provided us with the schedule for the following week. Elba kept up with permits and inspections and any special needs. We have now completed the flood repairs and remodel and we can’t be happier. She provided weekly schedules outlining anticipated work and ensured consistent progress by having someone on-site each day. I hired the company to build an ADU in a detached garage. From the start of planning with Eli to the workers that came every day it was an amazing journey! I do not live in the state and the help and commitment of everyone there was immensely helpful. My project manager Elba was on every detail and updated me regularly with both what work was happening and what I needed to do. I don’t think I would have been able to manage without her!

Sept. 2025 We ask Nir and Elba from Preferred Home Builders to come back to our home to help us remodel a bathroom. (We previously hired PHB in 2024 to build an extension to our home.) Nir sat down with us and gave us plenty of ideas on what was possible with the bathroom. We made a decision and started the project in Oct. 2025. Nir and Elba has worked with us every step of the way. We had some hiccups with inspection delayed and some of the details were not to expectations. However, any issue we brought up to Elba and Nir was quickly addressed, they gave us options and worked with us to resolve the issues. There was very no push back from them and they really just wanted to make sure we were happy with everything. I was in constant communication with Elba everyday. I cannot THANK them enough for their customer service and help with the entire process. We appreciate Preferred Home Builders (Elba and Nir) high level of service and product delivery.

Preferred Home Builders took over when another contractor had left us disappointed. They jumped in without hesitation and have helped us sort through the process of adding our new living space. They are prompt, organized, and even give a weekly schedule. If there are delays, they’ve explained what the problem is and help us resolve it. Our family highly recommends them to anyone who needs work done.

I wanted a new bathroom - a simple, elegant sanctuary that would include a soaking tub. The original (and only) bathroom in my 1940 house was beyond a simple fix: cracked tiles, discolored grout, louvered windows (not energy efficient and dirt constantly seeping through). A friend had recently completed renovating two bathrooms and a kitchen and had highly recommended Preferred Home Builders. I met with Dean who listened to me try and articulate the concept in my head and showed me a computer sketch of the possibility. It wasn't going to be a simple remodel as I was not keeping the original footprint, instead tearing the bathroom to the studs and starting anew. Before the project began, Talia would call to check in as I selected the tile, fixtures and accessories to make sure they would work and be available once the project started. Once the remodel began, Talia sent me a weekly schedule of the activities so I knew exactly what was going on and when. Along the way, I asked a lot of questions; each question answered completely and with a friendly attitude. When the floor tile I had picked was severely delayed, Talia was quick to provide me a solution that would keep the project moving. The workers who completed the work along the way were all skilled and polite.

This was a multiple bathroom remodel project. The pros: Their cabinet maker did excellent work, and the tile installer was also very good. The project was finished roughly on time and within budget. The cons: Project management: Very weak. Subcontractors often arrived without clear direction, asking, “What am I doing today?” Unless you want to manage the schedule yourself, I’d strongly suggest hiring your own project manager. Design: This is not their strength. If you want thoughtful layout or fixture planning, hire your own designer and let PHB execute. We didn’t, and ended up with sinks in the wrong places. Quality control: Poor oversight. An AC vent was drywalled over and went unnoticed for 10 days. Subcontractor quality: This was the biggest problem. The junior electrician and painter were especially bad. After completion, we had to hire our own electrician and painter to correct faulty wiring and poorly painted walls. We also had to pay out of pocket to repair water damage from a leak that occurred during construction. To their credit, PHB did offer to fix these issues at no cost, but by the end of the project we had lost confidence in their ability to deliver quality work. Adding to our frustration, the owner did not return my call. Bottom line: If you’re looking for a true design–build firm with strong project management and reliable quality control, this isn’t it.

Dean and Talia provided excellent customer service, clear communication, and thorough project planning, ensuring the work was completed on time and with great attention to detail. My husband and I received several quotes for a full bathroom remodel and a new roof. We went with Preferred Home Builders because we loved Renes attention to detail and professionalism. He listened to our input on what we wanted and gave is his honest advise and wisdom. We're still early in our project with Preferred Home Builders—just through the demolition phase so far—but they've been fantastic to work with. They've been incredibly responsive and helpful as we navigated the permitting and demolition process for our ADU. They've also gone above and beyond during the demo, hauling away additional items that weren’t part of the original scope, which we really appreciated. Their professionalism and clear communication have made a complex process feel much more manageable, and we're looking forward to completing the rest of the build with them.

Preferred Home Builders is building an ADU for us over our existing detached garage. They have been great to work with from the original planning meetings, contract meetings and helping us find quality affordable vendors for all the finishings. Isaac and Alina have been our main contacts and they are always available to answer questions, give advice or help us navigate any issues that have arisen throughout the project. I would hire them again for any home project and will refer friends and neighbors to them whenever they are looking to do similar projects.

I hired preferred home builders for a roofing project the whole project was smooth and the crew was amazing they cleaned everyday and arrived in time. I’m in the process of selling my home that was remodeled by Preferred a little over a year ago, (it looks fabulous) and I needed help confirming a few details for our disclosures and Ben and the team were instantly responsive and incredibly helpful more than a year later. Isaac has been wonderful throughout my journey with completing my ADU. He assisted me with shopping for all my supplies. Isaac was is a great communicator. He responded to all my questions. This was my first construction project so I was a little nervous, but Isaac made me feel very comfortable. I'm happy I choose Preferred as my company of choice. I definitely recommend them if you are looking to remoldel or build an ADU.

We are working with Isaac to build an ADU above our detached garage. He has made the process very easy for us, has good answers for everything and a strong team working with him to make things happen. We just got the plans approved and Isaac and his team are helping us with vendors and ideas for all the finishings and are doing a great job making the whole process less overwhelming. If you are looking for a professional company for your remodeling effort, you have come to the right place. I had the opportunity to work with PHB to convert my 49 year old kitchen / family room to a modernistic kitchen / entrainment space. The PHB contact (Rene) arrived promptly and developed a 3D model for my original kitchen. He then converted it to a new conceptual design in 2 1/2 hours during his first visit. Since then, Rene revisited me multiple times to establish a detail list of construction tasks and statement of work to ensure we are on the same page as to the scope of my remodeling effort. Subsequently, he provided a competitive quotation that adhered to our statement of work! Rene is talented, responsive, timely, a great listener, knowledgeable with the latest design trends & construction processes, and above all, he is compassionate and dedicated to my design objectives!

They did such an incredible job, it’s amazing to be living in a space that did not exist a few months ago. Tamir helped walk us through the design and we’re glad we followed it because we’re so happy with the greater privacy and use of the space. The experience of PHB really comes through, and as someone who has never done any house work or owned a house, I was reassured of their professionalism and recommendations. Their customer customer service was fantastic. We had tons of questions and our concerns were always addressed throughout the whole process. Talia was our project manager and she was always accessible as well as the rest of the crew. When bumps came up, PHB was always so professional and it was reassuring since the home-building world was so foreign to us. I'm so happy with our kitchen remodel and the work performed by Preferred Home Builders. We only wanted to add a dishwasher to our small kitchen and all other companies said it wasn't possible. The designer, Rene, brought in multiple foremen to try and give us what we wanted. After pricing it all out and bringing in the owner (Tamir), it made more sense to do a full remodel. Sure, the other companies said that from the get-go, but in working with Preferred, I felt confident that they were on my side and truly wanted me to have the kitchen I wanted. Tamir was phenomenal in walking me through what we could do within our budget. He has a passion for his work and we knew we were in good hands. They quoted us 3 weeks for our project while other companies quoted 2 months! Not only that... but they got the job done in TWO WEEKS. With a curious one-year-old at home, we were over the moon to have a beautiful working kitchen so quickly. The workers were skilled and kind. Our foreman, Sam, kept the train moving and we are so happy with the results. There were some hiccups with the inspection processes, but our project manager, Jadi was excellent from start to finish. She communicated each situation clearly and honestly. She was always available by text and we felt like we had a friend throughout the entire process. I'll definitely be calling Preferred again for our next project.

I have been planning my bathroom remodel for many years but kept getting side tracked with other projects around the house. Finally made a point to update my old style bathroom to a new modern look. I interviewed 5 different contractors and assessed how prompt they were at getting back to me e.g. sending a quote, answering my questions, their knowledge and how soon they can start the project. When it came down to the final three, I had them provide me with referrals. I decided with Rene at PHB. Rene even offered to go shopping for tile with me. Jadi in their office was my point of contact. She is fabulous to work with. She gave me weekly updates on the work scheduled for the week and a progress report. She returned my calls day or night and even on the weekends! She is not a 8-5 person and worked hard to make sure I was happy. Samuel was my lead foreman on the job. His crew was careful to keep my house clean by installing layout board on the stairs and entry. They were conscience of my privacy plus made sure my pups did not get out. I did have a few items I didn't like and they were quick to fix it. The job took a little longer than expected but my bathroom looks awesome. I rather spent extra time and have it done right. I would highly recommend PHB. A company is only as good as the people that works for them.

So far so great!….We hired Preferred Home Builders based off a friend’s recommendation. They could not say enough good things about them and having had worked on other projects with other companies I was skeptical….BUT my friend was right! Working with Tamir and Talia, our project manager, has been great! We are about 2/3rds of the way in and they have delivered every time. The constant communication and updates have been so helpful. When they say they will do something they do it. And the quality of work is evident. We have passed every inspection along the way. If you are looking so someone to take care of your construction projects do not hesitate to hire them! Will be happy to add photos when all is complete!

We have an ADU and it's beautiful! Preferred Home Builders and specifically Tamir and Talia helped us through every stage of this project. They guided us through design to reimagine our small space into something that will benefit our family long into the future. While I was in the process of vetting contractors for an extension project in my home, Preferred Home Builders stood out and I’m very happy to be working with them! Paul in the office has been helpful and open. Tamir who has helped us work out more details is a stand up guy, so professional and knowledgeable! I appreciated the attention to details and his vast experience. He took us to a work site and it was reassuring to see a similar project we had in mind. Tamir also washed out our AC unit (which was totally gross!) when it went bust and he didn’t have too! Super nice, and the pride and confidence in his work is reassuring.

So I’ve been working with Preferred for the past months and now that the project is coming closer to the end, I wanted to highlight my experience having worked with the team. We just passed final inspection on a 430sqft room addition with Preferred Home Builders! When we started looking for people for this project about 4 months ago I met with four companies. PHB was the first one we met with. Tamir the owner came by and he looked at our blueprint drawings and looked out back of the house and he quickly understood the scope of the work and idea of the project. His experience in the field definitely shows in his understanding of the project. His estimate of the completion was 3 months. He was confident in that though I was skeptical. I spoke with another customer he was working with at the time to get feedback on her experience with them. She actually was a repeat customer. After a few weeks of meeting others we decided that Tamir and PHB would be our choice. His pricing was more than fair. Once we signed things moved along very quickly. Talia, who is also his daughter, helped coordinate the scheduling for each weeks work. She's been amazing throughout the process. Always letting us know what to expect for each phase of the project. Steven the foreman has been more than amazing! He and his team of workers have been great to work with - professionally and personally. Everyone at PHB has been great working with. Almost exactly to 3 months when we started we are done! Has everything been perfect? Of course not. It never is. I've worked with different contractors for different projects at my house and there's always something that goes wrong. But the important thing is how do they respond when you have a problem? PHB always made sure to address everything I bring up and never said they can't do something or give me problems fixing something. You also expect to have some additional charges for unexpected things. How much extra did I pay? ZERO! First time in a major home project that I didn't end up paying any extra charges! We referred them to our friend also and they just started work on their addition and we have another friend who's meeting with them for a major project. Very happy I found PHB and would gladly recommend them for your home project! Thanks Tamir and everyone at PHB!

Our project is complete and we really couldn't be happier with the results. The team at Preferred Home Builders did an amazing job with our project and we've already been recommending them to friends and family. There was a lot to coordinate and between Paulina at the office, Nir our project manager and the crew we were kept informed as to how things were progressing, which milestones and inspections we were hitting each week, what they needed from us and what next steps would be the whole way. The detail they went into before the project began meant that changes during the project were kept to an absolute minimum, which in turn kept us on budget for the work that they were doing. They were patient with our questions and helped guide us through the process. They were really focused on making sure that we were happy with the product the whole way through. We knew we had picked a good contractor when we signed with them, but now I can honestly say we picked a GREAT contractor!

Communication through our project manager Talia is crystal clear. I always know what's coming up, what's required from me, and she patiently answers all of my questions. We were referred to Preferred by one of our friends. Preferred remodeled our master bathroom, and it turned out beautifully. I changed the design about three times, and they were patient in allowing the modifications as well as some unanticipated setbacks, such as delivery delays and broken/defective items needed to be reordered. Dean was the first person we had made contact with when he came out to give us a quote. He was very nice and reassuring. He worked with us and the insurance company to make sure we could maximize our claim. Tell Dean your problem and your recommended solution. And he'll try to work with you to make it work. However, first place for customer service goes to our project manager, Paulina. She was incredible! Paulina remained professional throughout the entire project, and her patience was unwavering. She was VERY responsive, even outside of business hours and on the weekends! She made us feel supported, and she was a true advocate for us; it felt like she did what was right for us and not necessarily the foreman or the company. Additionally, She was able to get our stone tub, pretty much, for free as well as a gift card from the vendor because the tub had a slight imperfection, and the tub ordered prior was defective as well. Paulina went above and beyond, and we could not have had a better project manager! We can't thank her enough!

This is the second time that we have used Preferred Home Builders, Inc. They remodeled our master bathroom in 2018. We were extremely satisfied with the master bathroom remodel and impressed by the professionalism of the entire work team. When it came time for our next home remodel project we knew we had to work with Preferred Homebuilders again. We just had our smaller second bathroom completed and are extremely excited that it came out exactly as we had planned. Tamir, the owner, came out for both projects to discuss our vision. We showed him pictures and tile samples that we had previously selected. He is very easy-going, professional and very knowledgeable. He assured us that he understood exactly what we wanted for designing our bathroom. Ari was assigned as our project manager and was very capable, keeping us informed of daily and weekly schedules for what work was to be done on particular days. She was always available for questions and any kind of concerns. Additionally the team of workmen were all very professional and very receptive to any questions or minor aesthetic changes if needed. In short, our bathroom looks amazing and we are very happy with the results. We definitely recommend this company, 5 stars all the way! We also plan on using Preferred Homebuilders, Inc. again in the future for our next major project of redesigning our kitchen.

Good contractors are so hard to come by, once you find one you make sure you continue to use them. I have had nothing but positive experiences when working with Preferred Home Builders and have recommended them to close friends as well. This will be my second time using them for additional work needed on my home. Eli and everyone I have ever dealt with over at Preferred Home Builders is very professional and responsive. I appreciate that every job has a dedicated project manager. There is always great communication regarding upcoming schedules and you know who to contact when questions arise. I always feel like I'm in good hands when dealing with Preferred Home Builders.

We just finished a full remodel of our main bathroom. Took it down to the studs. All of the work that was done was as high quality as it gets, from the demo to the plumbing and electrical to the tile work and the final painting. All flawless. Tamir is a perfectionist and came by to check on everything at regular intervals and to take video of the progress to report back to his staff which included Ari who was the link between all of the working parts. We love our final result and would use Tamir and PHB team again.

I have high standards. I have dealt with mediocre contractors on several jobs. Mediocrity is not in Preferred Home Builders' vocabulary. Everything has been conducted with the utmost professionalism, communication, and transparency. Eli has guided the project masterfully, providing recommendations, itineraries (which were met!), and status updates. He answered telephone calls and responded to text messages after hours. He also has a keen eye for design and livability. The crew were friendly, respectful, and clean, which was very important as we lived in our home with two young children throughout the construction of our new addition. Highly recommend these guys. Informative, Professional, Responsive and Affordable. Tamir came out, and took measurements of our kitchen, and bathroom. A few days later he had full plans, and 3D images of my dream kitchen, and main bathroom. He worked with our budget, and was ready to put us on calendar in the next couple of weeks. Tamir is a true subject matter expert, right down to every detail. I'm excited to work with him and his team. I can't wait to see the final outcome. Once work is completed, I'll circle back with my feedback.

A few months back we had a major house fire. Having never dealt with anything like this, we had no idea where to start. Thankfully we're well insured, & so far our insurance company has been amazing (highly recommend AAA here). We spoke & met with a number of contractors. Some had experience with fire & insurance companies, some didn't. PHB didn't, but they were open to the challenge of the rebuild, & all the additionals that go with an insurance claim. We first talked to Paul on the phone. He got all the details, & we spent around 30 minutes discussing. We then met with Dean at the property. We immediately liked Dean, he has a real can do attitude. The house was a mess, some rooms completely destroyed, almost everything smoke / water damaged. Sitting for four months awaiting to start work amidst an unprecedented rainy season didn't help. The house was also filled with fire damaged property. After meeting with Dean, he drew up some 3D images of what we could expect. The designs were fantastic, & Dean had a lot of good ideas. A big part of this project is getting the budget right, so we had to ensure that PHB could rebuild the house within insurance payout. This part is still happening, & Dean has been exhaustive in providing our insurance company the information required. Work started within a few weeks of meeting Dean, & to date we have nothing but praise. Everything has moved much faster than expected, & we're really happy. We're always excited to go see the progress. Dean's crew are incredibly hardworking, & keep everything very tidy. Dean is great to work with. He's incredibly responsive, replies to every text, & discusses our concerns. We're probably about a third into this project, & we are sure that the remainder will run smoothly. I will post before & after pics with a follow up once everyis completed. This is not an easy project, & we highly recommend PHB.

I’m a little more than half way in on my ADU project with Preferred Home Builders and I must say that I am highly impressed with the work, craftsmanship, attention to detail and professionalism shown by Tamir and his team. Their customer service has been exceptional and I never have any trouble getting someone on the phone if I have a question. Also, they send a weekly schedule of work so I can know to what to expect. I can be pretty anxious about people working on my house but Tamir and his entire team have put me at ease. I’ll be using them again for future projects and I highly recommend that others considering work speak to Tamir before contracting with anyone else.

Preferred Builders (Dean, Talia, Vahe & Art) did a complete remodel of our home. New kitchen and bathrooms. Removed popcorn ceiling. Torn down a wall. Installed new fireplace mantel and all appliances and cabinets and bathroom tub, showers and fixtures. Added archways in doorways, to match other architecture elements. They were very responsive and we were able to move back into our house after just 6 months. We love our new home and enjoyed working with Dean (weekly walk throughs), Talia (daily emails and phone) and Vahe & Art (daily on the job workers). An example of this company’s passion: I had chosen paint colors for interior and exterior. When I saw the painted guest bathroom I mentioned, in passing, that it was too dark and would have to learn to love it. 2 days later I’m visiting and they are painting it a much lighter color, from paint used in another room. I love it. No charge. Just because they want me happy. Sorry, photos are out of order.

Originally had a house improvement project that ended up going to exceed the price we agreed upon, but Preferred Home Builders made sure I was taken care of via referrals and saw the process the whole way through. It's clear they care about the customer.

Where do I start... Our family's process with this company has definitely seen its ups and downs, as well as various Project Managers and crew members. With the various crew members and foreman, our car was hit, nails in our tires, missing purchased items and now almost a year later to find the level of work as seen in their portfolio not completed in our home. Although I believe that they are in fact capable of such pristine work, I believe that our project over $100k was mismanaged and completed improperly. Aside from the above issues, here we are now: 1. The tile in the shower was done in two different grout colors, and redone in the middle. Now the colors are wearing and showing to various grout colors. 2. The ceiling in the bathroom on the wall that was replaced is now separating. 3. The baseboards were not properly done and nor was the back wall behind the toilet painted, you can also see that with the window frame. 4. The baseboards as well as some of the walls were not primed. This is noticeable in the kitchen and living room. Ironically the only pictures evidencing primer are in areas not peeling. 4. The kitchen cabinets were suppose to be removed sanded and primed, as you can see this was not done. 5. Separating grout with kitchen counter To no avail I was told by the owner, sometimes these things happen. Oh and that they didn’t want us as clients

Part 1 of this review! We hired Preferred Home Builders to re-do our master and guest bathrooms. Our main POC, Roy, has been great to work with preparing for our jobs. We have also been working with Paul, who is our main office POC. We renovated our Kitchen last year and the experience with Roy/Paul has been night and day (better!) compared to our last contractor. They have been very on top of all the planning and are not starting demo until we have all the materials ordered. Today we even got a schedule of work for the week...amazing. Second post will be later in the job.

I took my time researching and vetting contractors before I was ready to hire. Preferred stood out from the beginning and I felt very comfortable with Tom’s friendly and open personality. After our first meeting he took me to a few of his previous customers and they all shared their experiences and opened their homes to me. I thought this was amazing as I was able to see some of his work and hear experiences and expectations from other customers. Although my job is on a much smaller scale than most of his projects and the jobs I visited, he made me feel just as important. I am now 2 weeks in to my bathroom remodel and we are expected to be done within the next week or so. Up to this point everything has been going smoothly and I look forward to updating this review once my bathroom is complete.

I just moved into a new home that needed to be updated. I was recommended by a friend of mine who is at the final stages of her kitchen remodel to give Tamir a call. After seeing her project and doing some research I gave Preferred a call and scheduled my free estimate. Tamir came out and started to measure and design my master bathroom. After a few meetings I decided to hire Preferred and am looking forward to tackle different areas of the house over time.

This is the first of a two part review of Preferred Home Builders (PHB) for remodeling the master bathroom and my kids bathroom. They have not started my job yet so this review covers my introduction to PHB, contract negotiations and how I came to select them. A subsequent review will cover the job itself, their work quality and whether or not I would hire again. Let me start off by saying if you are reading this, you are probably where I was, nervous about undertaking a project like this (+$60,000), trying to do your homework and hoping to find that diamond in the rough, an honest contractor who does high quality work in a professional and expedient fashion. Frankly I came upon PHB at wits end, you see I had hired another "contractor" before to do the job and he ended up being my worst fears realized. He abandoned the job after two months, after having been paid the bulk of the contract price and to add insult his work quality was shoddy at best and potentially dangerous at worst. Within two days of calling PHB and speaking with Paul in their office, they dispatched their salesperson Eran to my house to survey the job and price it out. Eran was pleasant enough, he listened to what I wanted done, heard my horror story regarding the previous contractor and did his best to reassure me that PHB had stayed in business for 22 years by doing things the right way and taking care of their customers. These are nice things to hear of course, but I don't know these guys from Adam, I literally learned about them from Angie's List, so the proof will be in the job and I will update you as we go. Couple observations thus far: - PHB was the highest bid I received. After my previous experience, I was done messing around trying to cobble together the job using bit players/subs. I wanted to go to one place and have it handled for me by a Company with seemingly more solid financial footing. Also, most of the time the adage holds true, you get what you pay for so here's to hoping it is the case here. - Eran has been responsive and available. I am engaged most of the day at work and don't have the time to check-in on the job or take protracted conversations on the phone so I use text A LOT. It's nice when your contractor is responsive on the form of communication that works. - Working with Eran we finalized a written contract that is as specific as possible. This is done so there is no question as to the scope of work on their end, but importantly so there is no request for additional money. This should be an all-in contract, not to exceed the agreed-upon price we established at the beginning. We will see if thats the case at the end. - Finally, I realize I am exposed here in the worst possible way, like a patient that is open, I have one bathroom that is half done by a contractor that abandoned the job, and am asking PHB to come in and pick up the pieces and take me across the finish line. It is an extremely uncomfortable position to be in for obvious reasons. PHB has said they are worthy of my trust, again this is something we will have to see. Wish me luck fellow renovators, update to come in about 1 mos time.

We converted our garage into a bedroom and their team worked with us to have high quality work done at a competitive price. Aviv regularly checked in on the work and Michelle was great on the communication front from the office. We are very happy with the end product of a beautiful bedroom and walk-in closet. I recently used Preferred Home Builders to renovate my small house, and was extremely pleased with their work. I’m not sure how their prices compare to others’, but they were open about costs and warned me to expect costs associated with change orders. I interviewed other general contractors, but found only PHB both professional and personable. They were amenable to my getting other quotes for aspects of the work: I had my own workers for the shower door and painting, but otherwise used all the Preferred crews. The kitchen and bathroom needed to be completely re-worked, and Ran helped me design spaces that work beautifully and are very attractive. I had an idea of what I wanted, but he added the practical to it, and informed me of the requisites. He also planned the space on the computer (several renditions), so I could see it in 3D. He managed to keep the spaces true enough to their 1923 roots, while making them work for 21st century needs: For instance, he suggested enclosing the light and exhaust fan in the existing space above my old Wedgwood stove, so that it is unobtrusive, and the stove seems to stand on its own in its original niche. He knew I loved that setting, had obviously been thinking about it on his own, and had come up with this very practical and responsive idea. The bathroom is a tiny space, and was very eccentrically laid out by the previous owner. The new layout makes use of what little space there is efficiently, and the end result is lovely. I discovered that the wiring and plumbing needed to be completely re-done; the wiring was original to the house, and I was not comfortable with it. My only dismay with Preferred is that they did the rewiring, but did not include the re-plastering of the holes they had made, since they were not doing the painting. I am told by others that this is normal, since they were not doing the painting, but I continue to think it should have been part of the re-wiring. However, they were upfront about it, so I really can’t complain. The plumbing in the bathroom literally crumbled when it was touched, so I redid the whole house. Preferred not only handled the permits, as they did for all the construction, but kept on top of the city, so that they would do the inspection sooner than they had planned. Edoe is the project manager, and manages to put together the pieces so that they fall into place one by one, an admirable ability for an exacting task. Except for city inspections, which occasionally held things up, there was very little waiting around for the next phase of the work to get going. And the various crews were pleasant, respectful, and cleaned up after themselves. The house has many quirks, such as un-plumb walls, and Preferred made accommodations for them so that they are not noticeably askew. When I had concerns about any detail, Ran and Edoe saw that it was corrected; they wanted me to be satisfied with the results, and I am (as you might be able to tell). Recently, one of my circuit breakers tripped, and I could not get the new breaker box open. I don’t yet have my own electrician, so I called Preferred and Edoe took the time to call the electrician who had installed it, call me back, and walk me through the safety mechanism, so that I could re-engage the circuit. I didn’t feel any hesitation or reluctance from Edoe, just a quick response to the dilemma. That’s service with a genuine smile! I will use them again if I do any other work, and highly recommend them.

This review is long overdue but I wanted to give the time and attention they so deserve! My sister was unexpectedly widowed and we needed her entire kitchen and laundry area redone, the interior painted in its entirety, ceiling fans taken down and reinstalled and in three rooms, they put brand new ones in for us. Yani Levi was the project manager and Michelle handles all of the office work. Their professionalism, courteousness during what still remains a very difficult time, and their attention to every little detail while under a HUGE time gun was met with nothing but "yesses" and they came in exactly at the budget they said they would despite doing some "extras" and not charging us for it as well as coming in on time! I truly believe they did this to be kind to a newly widowed woman and my and my sister's appreciation knows no bounds. Yani Levi was our project manager and Michelle handled all of the office work. Each week, Michelle sent both my sister and me a schedule of what work was being done on which day and when the payments would be due. I think the highest praise I can give is to say that my husband and I are going to be remodeling our three bathrooms and I'm going to DEFINITELY hire Better Home and specifically request Yani Levi to be my project manager. He's the best of the best; as is Michelle. My sister is SO happy to have, in essence, a new home to walk into every day. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

PHB was a joy to work with. I had them convert my detached garage to a sound isolated music production studio, and while they weren't knowledgeable about the specifics of sound isolation, Ran and his crew were patient and eager to learn the correct way of constructing an acoustic conscious room. They knew what they didn't know, and I found that very refreshing. And that's not to say that they didn't take the time to learn what they didn't know. Construction with sound isolation in mind is a very tricky game, with attention to detail being perhaps the most important aspect. Ran understood this and took care to get things done right, rather than quickly. Scheduling was a bit tricky at times, and the project took longer than expected, but I think that was the nature of my project specifically. Communication with the office at times went slightly awry, but nothing crazy, unexpected, or inexcusable. Ran was a pleasure to work with, and I would 100% recommend PHB to my closest friends.

I hired Preferred Home Builders after receiving multiple bids for different companies. Preferred was one of the higher bids, however I feel that it was worth the money! My project manager was professional, caring, and responsive. The process was very simple we had 2 long meetings where I sat with Tom, the owner of the company. He explained the entire process thoroughly and created a 3-D before and after design of my home. I was able to see what the final product would be before we even started. After the 2 meetings we set a start date and end date which was spot on. Overall I had a great experience and I was very pleased with their craftsmanship, professionalism, and dedication.

I have been waiting TEN YEARS to do this full bathroom remodel, for one reason or another. The primary reason for my hesitation wass that I didn't have a contractor I trusted. I'd been ripped off and displeased so many times in the past decade on work done in my home. The estimate was on par with others, maybe even higher, but DO NOT use a cheaper outfit to get a deal. The work PHB does is above and beyond what anyone else has ever done on my home. I am now finished, ON TIME and ON BUDGET. I have no words for how pleased I am with this company. Ran, the design contractor - was totally willing to 'get my vision' - which is pretty eclectic. My house is 100 years old and I wanted everything vintage looking and funky. He brought his 3-D software and showed me what we could do, suggested other ideas I hadn't thought of, and I was inspired. We took this massive room down to the studs. Every week, Ed, the office manager, would send a schedule and a purchase list. He would also check in daily to see how I was and apprise me of things that were coming up. Everything was done to perfection. It is an absolute showroom. The crews were clean, punctual, and kind. There was a project manager and a foreman, just as organized and efficient as it gets. Everyone involved made me feel comfortable with the process. I will recommend them to everyone I meet and would never use a different outfit. THE BEST. Period.

Preferred is rocking my home addition. They are achieving each milestone at a great pace, and if all keeps going well, we should be moving back in on or ahead of schedule. I like that all services are done in house, giving the contractors control over the schedule. My project is well managed, with weekly schedules and communication from my dedicated project manager and Tamir, the owner. The crew at my house has been very professional with no complaints from my neighbors, and their work is high quality (from what I can tell as a layperson—let’s say they’re getting the go-ahead after each inspection). Can’t wait to see the final result!

Have to say the project is set to start next week but I wanted to put up a review just to discuss my experiences in planning this project. Ran is my project manager and from the moment we met he was SUPER communicative and available. After meeting with 4 other contractors, none of them showed the experience and dedication the way Ran did, so he is the reason I chose PHB. He does design and works on drawings and ideas right in your house (let me tell you, MANY do not, and require extra time to have extra meetings to design, or they will say "isn't this a good idea?" only to find out it isn't possible because they didn't understand construction). Ran put SOO much time and effort into my kitchen design, I never felt rushed and he was really cool and understanding with all the things I wanted and very easily incorporated them, while also thinking of ways to make my kitchen better and more functional. He is available to text, talk on the phone, and email and he is ALWAYS clear and precise and easygoing...communication is the best with him than ANY other contractor I've ever worked with, and I've worked with plenty. The timelines never got pushed, and so far everything is smooth sailing and we feel we really know what to expect. I will put up another review after the project is completed, but I have to say so far I'm beyond impressed and would (and do) recommend as highly as possible.

After getting multiple estimates to remodel my bathroom, I contacted Preffered Home Builders. They sent Aviv (project manager) out to give me an estimate and he was very friendly, fair and knowledgeable. I ended up signing my contract and the remodeling began. The process was very quick and the work was great. My bathroom turned out so beautiful. Aviv and his team were great. I would definitely use them for any future remodels.

Eli designed our dream kitchen, and working with Daisy and team in the office, kept the whole process very professional and on schedule. Preferred built an addition onto my house and refinished a bathroom. There were easy to make plans with and handled all the permits just fine. Their work is of good quality and was performed on time and within budget. Finished product looks great! We love our new master bedroom.

We purchased our home in October 2014. We knew we were planning a full home remodel so arranged appointments with a number of building companies/contractors. We choose Preferred Home Builders for a few reasons a) their thoroughness in meeting with us and understanding our vision b) their ability to do the work in half the time of anyone else and c) their organizational skills. Our team consisted of Tom (owner), Hadas (Project Coord/Office), and Jossi (Foreman) and then their teams. On average there would be between 3 – 8 people onsite each day and each and every person that was onsite at our home was friendly, courteous and very professional. We had a new kitchen, 2 new bathrooms, demolition of walls, new patio door entrances and complete painting. Our initial concern was that if they are able to do the work in half the time of anyone else could, would the quality be compromised. This was not the case! The quality of work was exceptional and we saw work being redone if it wasn’t to standard. We had a few tricky aspects (a 3D Wall, patio door extension, unusual kitchen island) and PHB handled these excellently. They worked with us extensively (and often way after hours) to ensure we had the kitchen island perfect. We wanted this to be the centerpiece of our home and when we finally got there we appreciated there advice and input (it looks amazing). They held true to their word that the remodel would be completed within 6 weeks and that the price would not increase. The only downside was that they do not do everything (Low Voltage, Flooring, closets). . Outside of this, we couldn’t be happier. The finished work was outstanding, the quality is exceptional and team (offsite and onsite) are the friendliest builders you could hope for. We made the right decision in choosing PHB.

I hired Preferred Home Builders to remodel my Master Bath. Shai was awesome to work with. He understood my design aesthetic and helped me create a beautiful retreat. I was so pleased with the work on the Master Bath, I retained him to remodel my kitchen as well. Both turned out beautifully, I get a lot of compliments. I'll definitely be calling Shai again next spring, when I plan on doing more remodeling work.

We did a remodel of our 2500 s.f. house. Preferred was knowledgable, experienced, met deadlines, worked well with us and pretty well met budget. The contractor and his office staff were bright, knowledgable and consistently responded promptly to us. This was crucial throughout the remodel process. The negative was the painting crew which did a very sloppy job ( e.g., did not paint edges, left blotches and drips, damaged electrical outlets, got paint on brick patio, painted walls the wrong color.) Preferred fixed everything promptly. Over all, Preferred got the job done professionally and to our satisfaction.

We've used Preferred twice now, first we gutted our dated kitchen and now more recently we built a mother in law quarters over our garage. We've been nothing but happy with them both times. The kitchen a was super fast, painless experience that was done exactly when they projected with little to no changes. The back house took a little longer, but mostly due to the city inspectors. My only complaint is that the workers rinsed off paint from their tools directly into my raised garden beds, which they rectified by removing the beds after I mentioned it. No use growing organic veggies in contaminated soil. We have given their number out several times and have several friends that love them as much as we do.

I chose preferrd home builders after looking at two other companies.When i called them to set up a meeting, Roy, the booking agent, was very nice and helpful, he answered all our questions.We met Tom, he was very personable and really knows what he was talking about...We wanted to do a complete kitchen remodeling and we wanted to break some walls to make an open space, Tom gave us few options that worked with our budget. He designed for us with a 3D laptop computer.After selecting Tom and his crew we set up start date for the the end of feb, they began on time and the job ended after 4 weeks, as promised.During the entire project we got each morning an update from Hadas, the project manager- she updated us on a daily basis regarding the job process.Tom helped us getting all the materials needed for the work, his crew is top notch, highly skilled professional, polite, and were leaving the house at the end of each day spotless, as clean as construction sight could be.We already gave them two referrals since they finished our job and we will continue to do so. We have a beautiful kitchen and we are very happy with the results.

Our relationship with Preferred Home Builders started in October of 2012 and it is truly astounding to think of what has happened since then, as I sit and look in amazement at our beautiful new kitchen and addition! In late October, Tom met with us to prepare our project. We were looking to expand the footprint of very small house but had no idea what was possible. Within 2 meetings, Tom had prepared a digital example of what our house could look like - a new addition on the back of the house (master bedroom and bathroom) and a newly structured kitchen. On paper and on the computer, it almost looked to good to be true! But we knew that Tom and Preferred had successfully and beautifully completed 2 projects for our neighbors and we were excited to get started with them. They gave us a contract for cost and for dates and I can say sitting here post HUGE project that they easily came in on budget and on time (as they said they would!). After permits were secured, they broke ground the first week of December and action never stopped from there. All day long and on Saturdays too (wow!), rain or shine and even without slowing during holiday season, Tom's team was driven to complete one chapter after another. The addition was first and the construction did not interrupt our lives at all! They worked very hard to do the work without disturbing our family's rhythm and each step of the process was well executed with excellent communication with Hadas and Roy in the office along the way (helping me understand what would come next, etc). As they new addition started to come to life, it was time to begin the kitchen demo process. Within 1 day, the old kitchen was gone and the new project was up and running - it was a relief to see them working so quickly and yet precisely too. While we knew we would be living without our kitchen for a month or so, they were extremely respectful of our living space and helped us to set up our makeshift kitchen in the dining room! Each and every day I would come home from work and MARVEL at the beautiful work being done! The outside of the addition was being completed while the kitchen was being restructured and each detail (siding, painting, roof, etc) matched our existing house without a hitch. It was so clear that the addition was built in the style of our Craftsman house with great care to extend the look from top to bottom. It was looking like it had always been there which was truly incredible. The kitchen also came together quickly as they completely restructured the space and prepared for the redesign of the space. As the gorgeous design touches went in on the new bathroom, the kitchen and the bedroom, it was a thrill to see the beautiful finishing touches and the attention to detail. From cabinets to tile work to paint, each and every professional that came in and out of our house performed their work with excellence. The finishing details were simply beautiful and somehow our little cramped Craftsman house was transformed into a spacious, inviting and state of the art space! As we have "moved in" to the new space, it has been a daily thrill to walk in the door and experience our new home. It has been transformed in a way that we never dreamed possible. Our daughter runs up and down the hallway and in and out of the new rooms, laughing and giggling, finally able to explore a house that is big enough for her to enjoy! My husband keeps saying that he feels like we are housesitting someone else's fantastic house! It feels like a vacation and we are still basking in the glory of living in such a refined and happy space...from design to construction to final details, Tom and his team took wonderful care of our family and we are forever grateful for what they have added to our lives!

We are a repeat happy customer of Preferred. Last fall, we hired Preferred to fully remodel our kitchen. We spent a lot of time planning the design and functionality of the new kitchen in advance so that the actual construction portion would run smoothly. Tom was extremely patient and open minded with the design process and ended up helping us solve a couple of issues we were having. We are very pleased with the finished kitchen. The construction crews were respectful and punctual and generally very detail oriented. The work area was left clean most of the time, although we did have one issue when the tile was being installed. I found that if I reminded the workers to reseal an area they were more than happy to do so. As part of our remodel we planned on opening a wall between our kitchen and family room. During this part of construction, the workers uncovered a major issue in that the wall was not only weight bearing but also a shear wall. Without any hesitation, Tom called in engineers and architects (at his cost) to design a solution to our problem. The problem was solved with minimal delay or costs passed to us. Our new kitchen is fantastic! We think Preferred did a great job!

Our home is in the middle of a literal full remodel...all new plumbing, wiring, electrical, facade, roof, interior paint, walls moved, kitchen and 3 bathrooms, ceiling, flooring, windows, literally every room touched and a ton of work done. First and foremost, I am always at least a little leery of review sites wondering if the reviewer is real, or what the deal behind it all is. Let me tell you, contact me, message me, Facebook me, I am a real customer that legitimately loves this company, and here is my story... We moved into an older home that needed a lot of upgrades. We bought an Angie's List subscription and also got into the whole Yelp/other online source world to find a contractor-- I mean, you hear more horror stories than anything else. We honestly met with about a dozen different people, spent hours with each of them and exhaustively searched them online. Working in customer service myself, I know how sometimes certain people can't be pleased even when their the ones you've gone the furthest with/for so I was willing to take a couple bad reviews with a grain of salt. Now, on a side note, having personally worked with Preferred for as long as we have I have NO IDEA how they can have a single grade below an A, but that's neither here nor there, this is about my personal story of growing to absolutely love these guys. So, once we figured they were the ones we wanted based on perceived knowledge, photos seeming to show quality and the general good feel we got, we decided to vet other clients. We were given a list of about a dozen former clients all of varying projects and backgrounds and we called every single one of them. We even went out to see the homes of people willing to have us over and were AMAZED by what former clients were willing to do for Tom--these guys must LOVE him we thought. Every person we talked to purred harder than the last going on and on about the great work, attention to timelines, tightness to quoted budget and cleanliness the job site was left upon completion. And when we saw homes? All the work was great. So that was our evaluation process...in case you didn't figure yet, we're thorough. We did the work so you don't have to haha! How'd the job go...? Well, and Tom will probably prefer I didn't put this because I bet it drove him crazy, but my wife and I must have changed the scope of the project 10 times on the poor guy, and each time it was, "no problem at all Toby--let's just get it to where your home is exactly what you envision." Finally, we agreed on a set of drawings and began the work. I will tell you, it is probably rare for a person to review their contractor in the middle of a project, when stress is likely at its highest, but that is where we are-- we are in the middle of the work and we are so happy we wanted to take a moment and tell you that these guys are awesome. Of course, I will post again after the job is done, but I feel like it is vital to report on some of the intimidating parts of remodel and say how easy and great it is with Preferred. The review process, the vetting process, getting the job started, it's all been a breeze. We have ordered many (MANY) changes to the job as this process has gone, and, not surprisingly, that too has been a joy to encounter with these guys. The owner is Tom who really, sincerely treats you fairly. It's strange that that is so refreshing, but in the world of remodeling, you can feel very vulnerable and it is just so refreshing to have someone be transparent on options as you make decision and so fair on pricing we LITERALLY feel guilty at times. Our project manager is a woman named Hadas who is excellent with response time and gives my wife a very warm feeling consulting her on a daily basis with what's happening at the job site. A few of the experts working at our home, Adrian, Felipe and Alfredo head up much of the work and they are a pro's pro, each of them. The work is so, so beautiful it's hard to say that it exceed our VERY particular expectations (as we expect perfection) but it truly did--it so far has exceeded expectations. Now, as I said, you can imagine a person being in the middle of this work, writing this about his contractor, so you know we must be happy campers. Do you want to feel this overjoyed in the middle of your project? We sure as heck did and that's why we did so much research on the front end, discarded what seemed like less "warning sign" reviews, met with clients face to face and can honestly say we're sure we'll be back on Angie's list at the end of the project with pictures and all telling you that the work got even better!! 10 out of 10

Fixed ceiling cracks, replaced floor molding and painted living room, dining room, hall and master bedroom. Created a walk-in closet. Painted exterior of the house, replace wood floors in bedrooms, drywall and insulation. My Husband and I decided to do an Addition of 400 sq. ft and major remodel to our home including kitchen and 2 bathrooms.Not only do we have an older home but a high profile home in our Neighborhood. Never having this amount of work done before , hearing all the "horror stories", and knowing that if anything went wrong in the process I would have Neighbors coming at me with "pitchforks" made me terrified of having anyone work on our house! I called and made appointments with 5 Contracting companies I found on Angie's List. That's when I found Preferred Home Builder's! Tom came to meet me and my husband, he was so professional, knowledgeable , he answered all our questions, and we had a Lot! I must say , there price was a little bit higher then the rest of the companies , but as we always say- to get a top of the line and quality work sometimes you have to pay a little bit more and we were absolutely fine with that.I have to say that everything from start to finish was done so professionally it was almost shocking. they kept on schedule, they would contact me before I had a chance to contact them , and the workmanship is all "A" quality!we started with blue prints for the addition, it was easier and faster then we expected, we got all the permits from the city, Tom update us every day regarding the process so we could be involve even if they did it all. he went with us to choose the tile& granite and advice us where to buy the appliances and fixtures , he was great! They remodel our kitchen with new and beautiful custom cabinets made by Mike the cabinet guy and amazing , quality granite from a huge slab yard!! i love my kitchen and enjoying using it every day! The bathrooms looks great,i love the tile Tom helped me choose, my kids are happy to use it every day. :) Felipe and the crew are professionals!!! they kept my house clean, covered the floors, furnitures , they were very polit and nice!! I been recommending Preferred Home Builder's to our Friends and Neighbors .one of friends allready hired them for her kitchen. I cannot say enough nice things about them! Thank you! We Love our Home. Preferred Home Builders did an excellent job with our remodel. Kitchen fully redone, conversion of 1/2 bath into 3/4 bath, addition of closet and pantry. Tom has a good design eye and his team was working every day and well supervised. Very pleased with their work overall and the job was completed on budget and on time.

they did a great job on our room addition. The quality of work was excellent, the workers are punctual, hard-working, respectful, and efficient. Our new room is beautiful! I did wish that the project manager updated us more often, but the company is very responsive when this concern was raised. The custom-built bookshelves are beautfiul, and the stone work on our atrium makes it look like a piece of art. Tom was very enthusiastic, with a lot of good ideas. Roberto and Belin were great foremen. Victor was a pleasure to work with!
