Working with Paul Hendershot Design has been a wonderful experience! Paul's designs are elegant and timeless. He transformed our front yard from exposed and undefined to our own private, peaceful sanctuary. His staff are professional and a pleasure to work with. Nobody has a better eye than Paul Hendershot! He is a landscape genius and a pleasure to work with. He has created some of the most beautifully simple but elegant gardens (including ours) that I have seen. People stop by our house regularly to comment on the garden. He cares deeply about his work and his clients. Not only did we end up with the garden and outdoor entertaining spaces we’d hoped for, but we also ended up with a new friend in Paul.

We turned to Paul to help us with our landscaping after standing in a delightful, sycamore shaded garden he created for our neighbors. We needed a total reconsideration of an original conception for our property that had never quite worked. Paul did an amazing job of finding a new way forward for us that didn’t bust our budget.

Highly creative and knowledgeable, and easy to work with, Paul Hendershot is a standout among landscape designers -- and we tried a few on the way to him (!). His love for the South of France is in perfect sync with California garden design. Thanks to his good taste and restraint, his designs are never faddy, fussy, or overdone -- instead, they're simple, classic, and timeless. Our garden looks wonderful. Plus, he's funny! A pleasure to work with.

Paul is an amazingly talented designer who is down to earth, flexible and easy to work with. We feel privileged to have had him design our new front yard. His office support individual, Alicia, is also amazing in every possible way she could be.

It is with GREAT pleasure that I write this review for the UBER talented Paul Hendershot. I had the great fortune of discovering Paul through Martha Stewart Living 20 years ago, and have been so deeply grateful ever since. Paul designed and installed our hacienda garden in Santa Barbara 19 years ago, and we enjoy that space every, single day. It is so peaceful, serene, private and nourishing. We have an outdoor fireplace, two stone cisterns, niches, gorgeous, dry stacked stone walls to sit on, and a drought tolerant garden that brings us SO much joy! We love the ease and simplicity of the pea gravel Paul suggested, and raking has become a beloved task! It's like a meditation practice for me. Paul also helped us with a rental property in Ojai, and that garden is so perfect for that mid-century modern home. Paul is a visionary. He just knows what works. He suggests just the right plants, and not too many. He knows what will work even before you do. And you can be sure that whatever Paul designs will be timeless, classic and breathtaking. I've recommended Paul to my nearest and dearest, and I would never have done so had I not believed that he was THE BEST! I encourage anyone contemplating a landscaping project to reach out to Paul. He will not disappoint! His own home is a testament to his masterful aesthetic. It's right out of a dream! But honestly, all of his gardens are dreamy. It's just how he rolls!

Paul is fantastic - did what he said he would do, when he said he would do it, for the price quoted. Very experienced, knowledgeable, and loaded with great ideas. Paul actually listens to his clients. I love the raised bed garden he installed for me.

Paul was the first and only choice for our home in Ojai. Every home we admired in the area had their landscape done by Paul and we wanted a similar sense of escapism, structure, and casual European elegance. Paul does indeed bring the best of Provence to California while still maintaining a sense of locality without anything feel faux or over-cooked. His entire team was incredible. I absolutely love Paul Hendershot and his team! Paul created wonderful landscape design plans for my family home. He understood our personal style and used his knowledge to give us the perfect landscape design for our house. We were hesitant at first to remove the grass in our front yard and to replace it with pea gravel, but once we saw pictures of other homes he's worked on and trusted his vision, we went with it and love the outcome. The drought tolerant plants and pea gravel look very nice and we couldn't be happier. My husband and I are impressed with Paul's knowledge and experience. I have used many design consultants over the years. I have a passion for architecture and design. Our 1930s Spanish colonial for 30 years has been an ongoing project for me. Every so often one finds a special person that really gets it with a unique eye, the right touch, the perspective for what should be done with a change here, and an addition there. Never too much. Not overstated, not overdone, just simple classic landscape design that complements the architecture of a home with ease; a design that soothes ones sole. Paul Hendershot is the guy. Fair with money, a likable person with a special gift. Need I say more?
