We recently inherited our current house on the family ranch and wanted to return it to the Spanish Revival style it was originally intended to have. After visiting friends’ homes that had exactly the look we were after, they directed us to their designer: Maraya Droney/Maraya Interior Design. The results of our total-house makeover are breathtaking; Maraya and Auriel created the authentic, early 20th century Spanish Revival look that we had envisioned. From tile work to light fixtures, beautiful draperies to custom-made period furniture, perfect color choices and a great eye for proportion, we couldn’t be prouder of Maraya’s transformation of our house into a true showcase.

Maraya has been extremely easy to work with on my project and is quick to get back with answers and ideas. She has also worked seamlessly with my contractor and his subs and for this I am forever grateful as I threw her to the lions in the middle of this project! When we started working with Maraya & Auriel our remodeling project was quite large, but our building plans only had minimal detail – just the required engineering and structural detail needed to get our building permit. Maraya has been the one who has enabled us to move forward in a timely manner and to get all the details right. She has impressive computer skills and is able to quickly produce multiple renditions of design options, providing the visualization we need to be confident in our design decisions -- be they big picture or minute details. She works as skillfully with us, the home owners, as with our contractor, providing him with drawings which reflect our creative vision as well as the precision and detail necessary to bring out the best in each trade and craftsman. Initially we were not sure how much professional design assistance we really wanted or needed in our project, but working with Maraya & Auriel been an increasingly positive experience, their value added becoming more and more obvious with each additional task we added to their care. In addition to Maraya’s initial duties of designing and highlighting important architectural details and doing room layouts, Maraya & Auriel have gone on to do a complete gut renovation of our kitchen and butler’s pantry, have provided tile layouts for a variety of rooms, made paint color selection easier and more satisfying than I have ever encountered on any of my previous projects, and pulled the whole house together by guiding our selection and overseeing the manufacturing and installation of window coverings, custom furnishings and custom carpets. And given that they also are respectful of budgets and the need to be thrifty, they have thoughtfully and creatively brought old furnishings to life with selectively re-upholstering and re-purposing, finding ways to make old favorites harmonious in their new setting. Most importantly, they are wonderful listeners and creative problem solvers so that the end product doesn’t look like a sterile designer showcase, but the house has been turned into a home reflecting our lifestyle and preferences.

Maraya and team were fantastic, our remodeled kitchen and family room couldn't be better. Our family and friends are really enjoying how everything turned out!
