We were so excited for the prospect of our kitchen remodel project with Four Brothers after being a fan of their design aesthetic from a distance. Starting the project was a bit shaky, some communication difficulties with our project manager and the site manager (which changed midway through our project). But the real issues arose with the final execution of the project. Our refrigerator & the panels were improperly installed as confirmed by GE, so every time we close or open the freezer drawer it damages the surrounding cabinets. Our brand-new dishwasher that they installed broke down and may be due to install issues, Bosch is still assessing the issue. Our garage was used as a staging spot as well as a woodworking studio, but there was no attempt to ensure our gym equipment which is housed in the garage was protected, which led to damage of our expensive belongings. The wood floors that were installed have damage including large dents, gaps and wood splintering. The painted walls have cracks and bubbles, despite drawing attention to these issues early on. We now have to bring in our own contractors to fix the many issues that Four Brothers left us with. My husband and I both attempted to contact Kent and Sondra who had been our main contact people at Four Brothers with no response. We are extremely frustrated and disappointed with a very costly project that left us with unnecessary headaches and messes to clean up. We made sure our home was a welcoming place, leading with kindness for all the people coming in and out each day, with snacks & access to indoor bathrooms. We feel sad that they have not been kinder to us in return.

I used Four Brothers back in 2019 for a big project and they did a great job but wanted to highlight how helpful they’ve been since. I recently reached out to Leroy for a recommendation for a small project that would have been too small for them. He responded immediately and connected to me to a good recommendation which I really appreciated. I like that they not only are responsive to customers during a project but continue to be so even after the project is done. I’ll definitely use them again for my next big project!

Four Brothers was terrific. We completely remodeled our kitchen, tearing out a passthrough; installing an island; and replacing floor, cabinets, counters and appliances. We had some idea of what we wanted, but were somewhat overwhelmed with the amount of potential choice. 4B quickly ascertained the amount of guidance we needed, and helped us make final choices efficiently. Only a few minor problems arose, which they quickly addressed. For example, we picked a flooring which turned out to be a bad color choice next to the wood floors in adjoining rooms. Our architect came to our house the same day and helped us find an alternative. The construction process was quiet and very neat, which was an unexpected bonus.The whole team was a pleasure to work with, but we were particularly impressed with our creative architect (Kate Donahure) and our careful chief contractor (Jose Moreno), who was very careful and attentive to detail---and considerate as well. For example, there was a serious illness and then a death in our family that meant we weren't always available during the project Jose did things like shovel our icy walk, since we couldn't. And our kitchen looks great---we get lots of compliments!

From start to finish, Four Brothers did an exceptional job on a three-story addition to our single family home. Throughout the initial design consultations they worked with us to develop a vision for the project that centered around our family’s daily rhythms, and the creativity of their design team enabled us to transform our entire home into a more open, comfortable space that we will enjoy living in for many years to come. Every morning when I come downstairs now that the work is done and I am back in my house, I find myself grinning and grateful to be living in such a lovely environment. My house was built in 1905, had no insulation in the walls, so I took it down to the studs and built it back up again, pushing it out some and adding an ADU. Four Brothers was great to work with from start to finish. They listened carefully to what I envisioned and then were able to make it happen. Their crews were friendly and careful and competent, easy to work with. Just could not be more pleased.

Four Brothers recently completed our kitchen remodel, and we are thrilled with the finished design. Their attention to detail is obvious in the design as well as the cabinet and island installation. Our in house team was lead by Alex, who was so easy to work with. He was prompt, clean, professional, and truly cared that we were satisfied with his work. I used Four Brothers to do a complete home renovation. We started with a tear-down on Capitol Hill and built my dream home. Four Brothers was fantastic to work with. They stayed on time and on budget. They take great pride in and responsibility for their work and they are very responsive and easy to work with. We have lived in the home for two years and everything is exactly as we wanted. The quality of the work is top notch and anything that wasn't perfect, they came back and fixed for me. I would recommend them for any job, big or small.

My home project did not require a complete condo renovation. Instead I had a few select projects and Four Brothers was one of the few companies to respond to my request. In addition, they didn't try to oversell me on what other projects I should consider. I felt comfortable meeting with Ben Johnson, who is very pleasant, and he provided me a work plan and estimate that was within my budget. The projects included a complete master bath renovation, floor tile work at the two entrances of the condo, decorative tile work in the kitchen, new windows and doors throughout the unit, and the removal of a gas fireplace that was replaced with built in bookshelves. These projects took place in two phases that spanned approx. 3 months. All the contractors that came into the unit were professional and friendly. Work that did not meet my expectations was redone without any questions. The renovations are fabulous and I'm thrilled with the completed work. I would call them up for any future projects.

I used Four brothers for a complete condo kitchen renovation. They were professional, responsible and did amazing work! My husband and I recently hired a Four Brothers team to renovate our unfinished basement. The experience was extremely positive – from beginning to end. Design: It was very clear early on that Sondra (project architect) was committed to finding creative solutions to uniquely customize the space to fit both our contrasting (ridiculously different) styles. She succeeded. Construction: Walid, Steven and his dedicated team faced the challenge of starting and completing this project during the current COVID-19 crisis. Steven kept us informed (6 ft. away of course) about District of Columbia construction regulations, and it was apparent they were taking safety protocol very seriously. As we were both working from home, we observed their professionalism firsthand. In the middle of an actual pandemic, they showed up every day and made us feel comfortable. In addition, their work was consistently thorough, and they finished on-time (less than 6 weeks) and (even better) on-budget. We were blown away. The final product is beautiful, functional, and most importantly, we both truly feel “at home”. In conclusion, we love our new basement and highly recommend Four Brothers!

Four Brothers helped bring my vision to life in my home. They listened from the beginning and we did not need many revisions to the plan. I also appreciated their creative ideas and providing me with options that were below, met, and exceeded the budget. I was always in choice and was able to save in some areas and splurge in others all while staying on budget. I loved their collaborative style and incredible work ethic. The overall project was managed to the deadline with one delay of the custom hood, which was based on the fires in California and out of their control. My wife and I live in a row house, built in 1892, on Capitol Hill, Washington, DC, and wanted to renovate our master bathroom. It is a compact space, about 4.5 ft. x 11.5 ft., with 10 ft. ceilings. This small space only underscored the need for a firm that could execute all the details perfectly, because there was no place to hide or fudge mistakes. Having dealt with two other design and build firms in the Washington, DC area when we renovated other areas of our house, we were wary of starting another project -- but with Four Brothers, there was no need for apprehension. Stuart Pumpelly, our Team Leader, initially met with us and guided us through the contract process -- and stayed with us throughout the renovation. And, we had superb Four Brothers personnel in Walid Kraydi, our Foreman, and Kate Hillman, our ace carpenter and project manager. Kate was on the job everyday -- and saw that all details were given attention. Simply put, she treated our renovation project as if it was being done in her house. All the subcontractors involved were excellent, both in terms of expertise and customer care. In short, Four Brothers assembled an outstanding team. The plan was developed by the Kohler Design Team, but Four Brothers managed the process, which was considerable, given all the details regarding plumbing fixtures, ceramic tile, and lighting involved in a 4.5'x11.5' space. Excellent communication was the key to getting the project done -- and Four Brothers delivered, with even one of the Johnson brothers, Kent, making occasional visits to see how the project was going. In conclusion, Four Brothers is an excellent design and build firm that delivers the goods and leaves the customer satisfied. I know that I am. That's why I recommend this firm wholeheartedly to anyone on the Hill that wants a quality job done right.

We hired Four Brothers to do a full redesign of our first floor and added a master bathroom to our 119 year old home. As first time home owners with no experience in renovations, Four Brothers patiently guided us through each step, taking a lot of our anxiety out of the process. Any issues that we had in the project were relatively minor and they were always willing to collaborate with us to find a solution. Their beautiful work speaks for itself. This is our second project with Four Brothers - we've done a full kitchen gut and now a master bath redesign - and we cannot recommend this company highly enough. In addition to their attention to detail and high quality work, they are quick to address any issues that arise, they're very responsive, and they work efficiently. Furthermore, they are just great people so it's a pleasure to work with them, and we are always so excited to see their perfect finished products. Truly awesome; you will not be sorry!!

This team of professionals performed superbly from start to finish. Their exceptional responsiveness from my first outreach to Ben continued through the last walkthrough; they set the standard for customer service. The design team (led by Kristin) worked miracles to convert abstract ideas and preferences into a beautiful schematic, and the construction crew (led by Manny) turned those designs into reality. No detail escaped their notice, and they accommodated adjustments along the way without missing a beat. Most importantly, they made the entire process painless -- they obtained permits and permissions smoothly, and they left the spaces clean after each day's work. When minor obstacles arose, they did not stop to "admire the problems," but instead moved quickly to overcome them. I would refer Four Brothers to anyone in the market for top-notch service.

UPDATE: 3 years later, we're finding a lot of instances of shortcutting and poor craftsmanship. We do believe 4B is a good firm that does good work, but overall we're unhappy with the cost-to-quality level. Overall our experience with Four Brothers was very positive. We hired them to assist with design and then be our general contractor on a large renovation project of the lower level of our condo in an old building. Our main project manager Stuart was fantastic to work with from start to finish--extremely professional, a great communicator, expertise in a lot of areas, and importantly a nice and kind person. The design team was overall very helpful, but there were also some communication issues and things that were said multiple times that were forgotten or ignored in deliverables. We did have a custom vanity built and had some expectations around costs, which had huge overruns that were never communicated to us until we received an invoice. Four Brothers ultimately credited back most of the costs, and we were certainly happy with the result, but it just didn't feel great to have to deal with. Our two main day-to-day contacts were Mike and Alex. Both were really easy to work with and totally trustworthy. Mike was senior on the project, came with a wealth of experience, and was definitely a huge value to have when he was here during the early phases of demo, plumbing relocation, HVAC work, floor leveling, framing, etc.. The rest of the project management was a little lacking and there was a fair amount of sloppiness with the work--including managing the subs. The Four Brothers team ultimately did a good job remedying our concerns, but it took a lot more of our time and oversight than we would have liked. Overall the subs they used were really great. The only group we had issues with were drywall + paint. A bunch of the drywall lines on brand new framed rooms were crooked and painting was sloppy including poor ceiling lines and paint on surrounding surfaces. Again, Four Brothers had most of these issues fixed for us quickly and without charge. We've had a couple issues since and Four Brothers has been very responsive, fixing warranty items for free and quickly. From a cost perspective, their design services can get expensive and for the overall cost of the project, their quality of work is about on-par with what you'd expect.

There are not enough superlatives to describe Four Brothers LLC. They are brilliant designers, master craftsmen, keen listeners, and completely trustworthy managers. We hired Four Brothers for an extensive renovation, along with an addition, to our 1945 brick colonial. They made the design process a delight. They excepted nothing less than perfect in every facet of the construction. They came up with creative, and master craftsman ideas that we had never thought of to bring in natural light in every room, to vault a ceiling, to add a dormer so that we would feel as though we are outside when we are inside in almost every room in the house. We were focused on using principles of universal design to make our home beautiful and accessible for all generations, all abilities. So, Four Brothers created one step-less entry for us, and two specially designed step-less bathrooms. So brilliant and beautiful are these bathrooms, that we have had 15 requests for the floor plans, primarily because our neighbors want to incorporate these types of bathrooms into their own or their parents' homes. And speaking of bathrooms, our Four Brothers project team was not satisfied with the initial work of their tile subcontractor. So, unprompted by us, they tore out all the tile from each renovated bathroom and started over with a high end tile craftsman, all at their own internal expense. Needless to say, we trust Four Brothers for quality work. Two other features have provided us with a WOW factor that we love: 1) The rear of our home has a southern exposure, so to optimize it, Four Brothers created a 4-season sunroom, adjacent to a roofed outdoor porch (equipped with mosquito curtains), extending into an open (uncovered) porch (where the grill is) with a retractable awning. 2) The kitchen/family area has a real-brick backsplash created from reclaimed bricks from a Chicago warehouse that Four Brothers designers researched and found for us. People visiting simply cannot stop complimenting this beautifully warm kitchen backsplash design, a design which was key to the entire open area of our kitchen/family room. We are elated with our newly renovated home! We have already recommended Four Brothers to 12 families who have hired the company and are thrilled with the results. You will be too!

Four Brothers was very easy to work with, listening to my ideas and concerns, always prompt, and finished the job quickly once they began, able to pivot mid-project to provide new solutions to new problems as they arose. Mine is an older house, so the project had many uncertainties when tearing down walls, but the flexibility and skill of the construction were able to tun my old hallway/pantry/laundry room into a beautiful new powder room

Words cannot describe how incredible Four Brothers were to work with. I could not have asked for a better contractor. They are extremely thorough, organized and most importantly they do it right the first time. They are so meticulous in ensuring the work is done precisely as was intended. Our experience with Four Brothers was outstanding. We did a major remodeling of our master bedroom/bath suite that entailed a total renovation of the bath and the addition of a walk-in closet. And, while the bath area is not huge, the remodeling required a significant change to the placement of fixtures and utilities. My wife and I have done other DIY projects around the house but this was one we didn’t want to tackle. Those DIY projects along with many years of working on construction projects while in high school and college with my family’s construction company in Wisconsin provided a pretty good understanding of what our project would entail. We chose Four Brothers after obtaining estimates from three other companies that we selected after doing an evaluation of a subset of contractors with high quality evaluations in Washington Consumer Checkbook. We thought that we had a good idea of the design for the remodel that we shared with Grant, the architect. He produced drawings that allowed us to get a good feel for the trade-offs within the space we had to work with. We worked with him to make major changes to our original design concept that gave us a final design that was perfect. We would have been very disappointed in the outcome if we had stayed with our original design. The cost associated with having an architect involved was worth every penny. In addition to iterating on the design using detailed floor layouts and visualizations of the space, Grant provided guidance and recommendations on sources for fixtures, cabinetry, counter tops and tile. We have a beautiful glass-partitioned, tile-walled shower, double vanity with marble top, along with tile floors. The contract laid out a clear description of cost and schedule for labor and a materials allowance based on our description of the type of cabinetry and fixtures that we had in mind. The final project costs were right on target. The project management and the work done by the Four Brothers team and their subcontractors was outstanding. There was excellent coordination among the various crafts and with the county for obtaining permits and inspections. The crew was on site throughout the duration of the project. They arrived every morning on schedule. They isolated the work area with plastic to have minimal dust or disruption in the rest of the house. Four Brothers will be on the top of our list for any future projects.

We absolutely loved working with Four Brothers and could not be happier with how our kithcen renovation turned out. They were dependable, stayed within our budget, listened to our questions, and kept us in the loop the whole time. Most impressively, they stuck closely to the timeline and finished right on time. We had a very small kitchen (space you could stand in was the size of a closet) with a hallway to one side and a small room behind it. My fiance and I love to cook with each other and our friends. We wanted to expand our kitchen to use the entire space that used to be the kitchen, small room, and hallway. We looked into Four Brothers because our friends had recently used them for a kitchen renovation and they had excellent things to say. After looking at several other firms, we picked Four Brothers. We worked with Leroy, Kristen, and Mike. All three were incredibly nice, professional, and a delight to work with. They were FANTASTIC!!! They listened carefully to what we wanted the space, respected our budget, and were very responsive to all communications. Leroy did an excellent job as the point person. He walked us through the process so that we understood exactly how things would proceed. Kristen worked with us to design a kitchen that is beautiful and functional. She even created a little nook where we could hang our bikes out of sight and managed to fit a pantry and half-bath in without making the kitchen feel cramped - it feels huge given the small rowhouse we are in. I still can't believe how well she translated our conversations into a design. Mike was our lead carpenter. He was great at keeping us in the loop and explaining what they were doing at each stage. The worksite was kept unbelievably clean and not a single thing in our home was damaged our dirty. They finished the project in the exact amount of time they had estimated, which was very important to us. We would highly recommend Four Brothers to anyone. If we ever have another home project, we will absolutely be working with them again.

We had an excellent experience with Four Brothers. They fully remodeled our kitchen and added a powder room to the main level of the house. This was our 1st time doing a project like this and we didn't know what to expect going into it. Ben Johnson was our main contact and was very helpful in explaining the process. They were very professional from day one. We felt the cost of the project was very reasonable. The design process went well and was very collaborative. One of the best aspects of their work is their reliability. They showed up everyday and on time until the project was completed. The project was finished on time and within the initial budget. We will definitely use Four Brothers again.

We were pleased with everything, starting with Liz who designed the kitchen for us. I shared my ideas and she really listened.. finding ways to do what I asked, or making suggestions to make it even better. My favorite was the kitchen sink. I said I hated dish drains, and she found a sink that incorporated one -- I didn't even know that was possible. I didn't want to be swamped with decisions... like what kind of handles to use on the drawers.. so I asked for a limited number of options to chose from and she did just that. She internalized our style and picked just the right things. We asked them to replace the kitchen while we were away -- our friends thought we were crazy, But they did, on time and on budget. A friend/realtor who stopped to check in periodically said it was the cleanest demolition she'd ever seen. They salvaged what could be donated or reused, gave me a weekly report, and delivered an incredible kitchen. The other thing I liked was that they guaranteed the price. So even when we ran into a little glitch with the existing vent for the stove, they found another way (turned out to be a better way) and covered the costs. Ben and Kent were great to work with and very responsive to any requests. Carlos managed the project day-to-day and he too was a pleasure to work with. I'm usually the first one to complain when something doesn't go right, but I never had to with this project. 95% of it worked out as planned and they promptly addressed the other 5% on the fly. I'd use them again in a hearbeat.

We had the distinct pleasure of working with Four Brothers from January 2017 to September 2017. We started by meeting with Leroy, and we ineptly described what was bugging us about our 1930s, boxy brick home with lots of little main floor rooms and a poorly built back extension. Leroy listened to us babble along for an hour, and then gave us his impressions -- house looked smaller on the inside than the outside, the front hallway tunnelled darkly to the guest room, people likely get "stuck" in the corners when we're entertaining etc. -- and seemed to articulate what had bothered us about our home for over a decade. We then worked with Leroy and our designer Kate, who came up with a design that removed most of the interior walls on the main floor, rebuilt the extension, carried the hardwood floors throughout, created a huge butcher block that waterfalled into a custom made an 8ft dining table (with two 2ft extensions), a new deck with greenwall, and lots of plumbing, AC, window, engineerial "surprises" that our house had in store. The Four Brothers crew was very communicative, proactive, and very protective over our family (we stayed in the house!). Early on in the process, we made clear that we didn't have much patience for the unlimited universe of home design products and designs. Kate had an amazingly intuitive sense for what we liked and gave us three choices -- our request! -- for all decisions and almost always, within her curated choices, we found the perfect option, be it paint colors, pulls and knobs, light fixtures etc. The project manager and carpenters who were at the house every day, managing all aspects of the project and making sure we were happy. Our day-to-day manager became part of our family, and our kids still ask after him! And, the results were spectacular. We recommend Four Brothers without reservation.

We highly recommend Four Brothers LLC. Our project was complicated with a solid front to the house, approaching 100 years old and a 55-60-year old rear addition that was in poor shape foundationally. We had spoken with several architects and builders for several years before we met Four Brothers. We had been planning to do a first floor renovation and addition, but by working through the issues with Ben and the team and in order to have a solid house, we realized that we had to demolish the troublesome rear of the house and re-build it with a full basement underneath. Ben and team presented us with several options and the final result is great and the workmanship impeccable. Our house has old school charm with an open floor plan and plentiful light that was preserved and enhanced. The renovated kitchen and the upstairs master bath are beautiful, as are an added screened porch and renovated deck. The company built us some beautiful custom vanities and buffets. Michael Schmeider was the manager of our project, and we couldn’t have asked for better. Mike came up with creative solutions when we needed them, and the project was finished in a timely manner. We completed our 2-story addition in 2016 and absolutely love it. So much so that we are already considering having them come back and build us a new master suite. Although it was a small job, Ben and his team treated it as though it was their highest priority. The project manager and all the tradespeople were skilled, efficient and thoroughly professional. I especially appreciated how neat and tidy they kept the work area. I would hire Four Brothers again without hesitation.

We did a major kitchen renovation and selected Four Brothers LLC. They had previously done a major renovation for our daughter. She was very pleased with the outcome and that is why we chose them. We were extremely pleased with Four Brothers LLC ,,, starting with the design process and then the entire renovation job. They were very professional and at the same time pleasant and easy to work with. There were a few change orders that had to be made while the job was underway... this happened flawlessly. Overall, their attention to detail and work quality were excellent. Very important for us, Four Brothers completed the project on time and on budget. I love my new bathroom. Indeed I experienced a minor electrical problem several months after the work was completed and an electrician came to replace a part. We hired Four Brothers to renovate our entire 1931 center-hall colonial home in Chevy Chase, DC. We started planning in 2013 for the project (all four floors of the home) and decided to do the design and work in three phases, completed over four years. This was our request as we wanted to live in the house throughout construction and take our time with the design for each phase. This approach was definitely not the easiest for the design/build firm, but is the first example of many, as to how flexible and client-focused Four Brothers truly is. The scope of phase 1 of the project included gutting the basement to the foundation and installing a drain and pump, rebuilding the basement with a guest room, full bath, family room and laundry room. HVAC was reworked and we added a second system. Other electrical upgrades were made. Decorative trim work, custom doors, and hardware from England were installed. Four Brothers treated our basement project as if it were the most important work they had ever done. In fact, I felt as if we were their only client -- for each of the phases. Phase 2 was the reworking of the main floor including gutting the kitchen and powder room, creating new openings in walls with oversized pocket doors (requiring structural engineering), and installing custom doors and windows. They installed decorative trim and reworked the staircase. We ran into problems with the installation of hand-made bronze/glass doors that was met with dogged determination to fix. Phase 3 was a full remodel of the master bath, hall bath, installation of new custom windows, and built-in closets on the second floor. This required gutting the entire interior of the back of the house to move walls and borrow space from closets. We kept the plumber working full time moving fixtures. Every inch of space was utilized. We worked with two project managers over the three phases and many subs. Everyone who worked in our house was beyond professional and the best part was that they were creative problem solvers who would never settled for "good enough". They took pride in their work and my house shows it. Our main contact at Four Brothers was one of the owners (a brother), Leroy Johnson. He is responsive, fair and always interested in learning about new products -- something that our project required as we customized many of our items (doors, windows, banister, even hardware). Leroy listens to his client's goals, has infinite patience and delivers a beautiful final product. I couldn't recommend Four Brothers more highly.

After interviewing a range of well-reputed firms, we selected Four Brothers for an extensive remodeling of our Washington, DC condominium in 2016–17. This was a seven-month project of design and construction, using high-quality materials. It was a pleasure working with Four Brothers—they made us a lovely home for a reasonable price. The overall direction was under Ben Johnson, one of the Four Brothers partnership; our project manager was Alfred Johnson, also one of the Four Brothers. Our lead carpenter was Michael Schmieder. Our design team was architect Tamar King and designer Kristen Mendoza. We as owners wanted to be closely involved at all stages, and the design and construction teams accepted and welcomed this. One of the features of Four Brothers is its strength in good design and how it integrates its design team with its construction team. Our design team was creative and resourceful, while always remaining responsive to our needs and wishes. Another feature of Four Brothers is the high quality of their work. In all aspects of the work, the construction team worked with care and precision to achieve an excellent result. Four Brothers consistently demonstrated professionalism, integrity, skill, responsiveness, and pride in a job well done. When, as is inevitable in any substantial construction project, unforeseen issues arose, they handled them promptly, calmly, and efficiently. They were impressively easy to get in touch with (available evenings and weekends). When we requested changes from the agreed plans, they accepted them with good grace, incorporated them into the schedule, and were transparent and fair regarding the costs of changes. Finally, Four Brothers was great to work with—they are good people and we really liked them! In contrast to our earlier experiences of construction work, working with Four Brothers was not an ongoing conflict between owner and builder—rather it was a joint effort to achieve the best result for the owner. As Four Brothers said and proved by their work, “we just want you to be happy with the result,” and indeed we are. We recommend this firm, and particularly the teams we worked with, without reservation.

My wife and I contracted with Four Brothers for a major kitchen renovation. The project included removing a wall between the existing kitchen and dining room, new electrical, upgraded insulation, new plumbing, cabinets, installing a 3-panel sliding glass door, new flooring and appliances. The entire Four Brothers team (LeRoy, Sarah, James & Walid) made a usually stressful process enjoyable. James, our on-site manager, was a pleasure to work with. James communicated daily regarding scheduled work and effectively managed any challenges. All change orders were addressed quickly and at a reasonable cost. On December 27, 2016, my wife and I signed a contract, not without some anxiety, with Four Brothers LLC, as the scope of work called for the complete gut of our master bathroom and the creation of a brand-new bathroom and renovation of laundry room located in our basement. Prior to the start of work, scheduled for the first week in February, Ben, his foreman Manny and additional work crew members arrived - introductions were conducted - and then we ALL began to assess how to protect walls, floors and other household furnishings from potential scrapes, dings and damage during the construction phase. It was a meticulous operation. Very impressive from the start. From start to finish, at the end of every day, we reviewed the work, discussed what was in store for the next day and Manny cleaned the work area before leaving. There were few surprises during the 90-day construction project. As usual, architectural drawings and reality clashed when the final piece of molding went up, the last pieces of wall/floor tile were installed, the need for metal protection for the LED light housing in the attic was identified or the last cabinet was attached to the wall. Home construction is a dynamic process and the Four Brothers team was outstanding in resolving these nettlesome details. Manny, Justin, Phil, Omar, Keith and Trevor were quick to identify complications and offer solutions as we went forward. All the subcontractors, except for the countertop supplier, were excellent technicians, timely and a pleasure to work with. My only advice is that to guarantee such success the homeowner MUST have one adult member on site, or otherwise be easily available, every day of the process so that building questions and product selections are reviewed to ensure timelines and schedules are maintained. We just completed our second major house renovation, in addition to a handful of smaller projects like bathroom remodels over the years. Four Brothers provided our best experience so far. The quality of the worksmanship was great, and when there were problems they were quickly addressed to our satisfaction. The support staff was great with the architectural drawings and ordering things like door handles and made it all very easy. Special thanks to lead carpenter Kevin Delgado, who was always reachable, helpful, and professional.

We hired Four Brothers to remodel our kitchen and sun room, and convert a storage shed into an office. The entire process from design through construction was fantastic. The designer worked with us to create a space that we couldn't be happier with, and the crew completed the project on schedule despite several additional tasks that arose due to the age of our home. We will definitely be calling 4 Brothers for any future projects, and have already recommended them to several friends considering similar projects.

Four Brothers is highly recommended after completing a major townhouse renovation in NW Washington DC. Leory and the Four Brothers team did an excellent job throughout project estimation, initiation, execution and close-out. The entire team was extremely professional and was always willing to be available any time we had questions. The quality of work was impressive and the company ensured expectations were met throughout the design and construction process. It was clearly noticed that the company leadership stresses a clean working environment and everyone working on-site was more than accommodating with cleaning and dusting the site every day without being asked. We loved working with Four Brothers. From the design process to the construction process it was easy, seamless and fun. We have two small children and couldn't use our first floor during the entire renovation, but the team set up a mini kitchen for us, made sure to have roll up doors to prevent as much dust as possible from coming upstairs, and always did a great job of cleaning up before the end of the day. They have skilled craftsmen who know what they are doing and we loved our designer. They were always on time in the morning and there was great communication with what would be happening that day or week. And we didn't really go over budget. We thought we might, but it was pretty much on target. We have been through renovations before and this was one was probably the most seamless. We would absolutely recommend Four Brothers. The quality of the products they use, craftsmanship, design skills, and communication make them worth every penny.

We hired Four Brothers to fully renovate our kitchen and master bathroom. We could not have been happier with our choice! We chose Four Brothers because of their deep experience with 1920s row-houses, and because they were a one-stop-shop design and build firm with very positive reviews. The entire process was very smooth. The project lead (one of the four brothers) and designer spent several hours with us looking at our house and talking about our goals. After several weeks of follow up meetings and reviewing drawings, we had a final plan as well as a project timeline. The designer was very helpful with guiding us in the right direction for all of our finishes, and had lots of ideas for interesting solutions that hadn't crossed our minds. When construction started, our lead carpenter and crew showed up promptly every single day. The whole team was clearly experienced and skilled, and we never worried about how they would care for our old house. Construction took just over 8 weeks. At the end of the project, they finished several weeks ahead of the initial schedule, and for several thousand dollars less than the initial quote. I've never heard of a contractor being on-time and below-budget before, so we were thrilled. The quality of the work is top-notch. We've gotten lots of compliments from friends and family, and from another contractor who was in the house for some unrelated work. We love everything about our new spaces. We haven't missed our old kitchen and bathroom for one second! The one slight frustration we had with the process was at the very end of construction. They had another project scheduled right after ours, and ended up not fully finishing our work before moving to the next project. This was all small stuff and our house was definitely useable, but we would have been happier if they had just spent two more days dedicated to our job. We've recommended Four Brothers to anyone who needs help. They're great to work with, their work is extremely high quality, and their pricing is fair. We'll definitely be using them again when we're ready to do another big job on our house.

Stunning success with master bath re-do! After a massive leak in our 3rd floor shower damaged the ceiling and walls of the living / dining space below, we hired Four Brothers do an entire re-do of our master bath and the experience was fabulous! From start to finish they were a pleasure to deal with, professional and friendly and communicative throughout the several month process, we really feel that it was a team effort and we were part of the team. Four Brothers walked us through the process as we chose all the components from tile and paint to fixtures to features including the steam room system with blue tooth sound system - so we owned the project from the get-go. Our choices guided their work. Stuart the Manager, Kristen our designer and our project chief Justin were a well integrated team, with Justin on site every single day supervising the various professionals who came in to do plumbing, electric, dry wall, painting, and the glass and tile work. Having one project chief on site every day maintained the continuity and quality control from start to finish, and it was for us the real key in completing the project so successfully. Four Brothers is a superb contracting and design company - they take pride in their work and it shows in the quality of the finished project. We couldn't be happier with our new state of the art master bath, and recommend Four Brothers to you all in the highest possible terms .

We hired Four Brothers for a total renovation of the kitchen-family room-half bath in our 1920s-era house. We were delighted and impressed by their proposed solutions to our design challenges (including limited space and a low structural beam dividing two spaces we hoped to integrate). The design process was collaborative, and it was clear that the designers were attentive to our priorities and concerns. The final design was both more practical and more beautiful than we had expected. Now that we have lived in the new space for some months, we remain extremely pleased. As the work commenced, it became obvious that not just the design but the craftsmanship and especially the management skills of the team were up to all our challenges. Those came to include some unexpected problems from a previous renovation that could have interrupted our project for several weeks and which required extensive additional work to not just on the renovated space but to the space above (a master bedroom). We were particularly impressed with Four Brothers ability to gather the right experts and trades, revise part of the construction schedule and keep us on track for our original completion date. (In the end, the lost time was made up.) Throughout the project, communications were easy; the Four Brothers team responded to questions and issues without delay, including over the weekends. We certainly would work with Four Brothers again.

After extensive research of Washington DC contractors, I selected Four Brothers for a full bath renovation in spring 2016 because of: (i) their level of experience; (ii) recommendations from previous clients; (iii) their professional and impressive approach to the planning process; and (iv) their thorough preparation and estimates. In the end, Four Brothers transformed a very old bathroom into both a functional and beautiful space within a reasonable time. The company’s (management) team leader provided timely and substantive communication throughout the process as well as meaningful guidance and suggestions. The designer listened and incorporated my tastes and needs into the design options and produced a clever and pleasing final design. Lots of convenient storage for a tiny bathroom were added. In order to meet the project timeline, one of the Johnson brothers built two cabinets entirely and the craftsmanship is impeccable. The construction team was considerate of my needs and professional in their work from the demolition through the finished product. The demolition and installation were performed meticulously and with high quality. Specialized teams were responsible for the carpentry, tile, countertop and shower door as well as the utilities installation. The workers were on time and worked diligently every day. They took pride in their work and were clean and respectful of my home. I found it impressive that Four Brothers engaged an independent technical review of the installation, especially the electrical and plumbing, prior to closing the walls. The renovation of a bathroom in a late-1920s condominium building with its structural parameters is not an easy project. A building riser replacement project took place simultaneously as my bath renovation. The riser work was conducted independently by the building’s own plumbing company but its implementation, management and oversight turned out to be a hurdle to my renovation. Nevertheless, Four Brothers overcame the challenge. All in all, the company’s teams dealt with problems promptly and efficiently. For the few issues that required my input, Four Brothers came up with clear and well thought solutions. I have worked with and led many project teams professionally and I would recommend Four Brothers without question to friends and associates.

We hired Four Brothers to do a kitchen remodel and to replace the wooden flooring in the kitchen. We couldn't be happier with the quality of their work, professionalism, timeliness, accessibility, and friendliness. When we contacted Four Brothers in the spring (based on a recommendation) one of the brothers -- Leroy -- reached out to us and set up an initial in-house consult. As with most people considering a renovation we were concerned about price but the project timeline was as important to us, perhaps more so. Leroy had his schedule on hand and told us the earliest work could begin would be early June and last about three weeks. When the project finally began a couple of months after the initial consult it did, in fact, begin on the day Leroy estimated months before. At the start of the renovation Four Brothers provided us with a Google Calendar so we could see their estimates for when certain phases of the renovation would be completed. We saw the on-site carpenter, Zach, on a regular basis (some mornings and evenings) and talked or texted with him if any questions or issues arose. They installed plastic sheeting in between the work space and our living room to minimize dust and keep the living area still livable. Zach sent us and the project team an email at the end of each summarizing what was done that week and what was on tap for the following week. A nice touch. The renovation officially took three weeks to complete (as was originally estimated!) but they had to return about ten days later to install a late-arriving butcher board from their supplier. Four Brothers seemed more upset about the delay than they thought we might be but in the context of house remodels -- and the horror stories we heard about delinquent and disorganized contractors -- this was trivial. Compared to most of the renovations and remodels Four Brothers does, I suspect ours was among the more straightforward and uncomplicated. That being said, though, Four Brothers gets our highest recommendation. They may be a bit more expensive than some of their competitors but everything -- the permits, materials, craftsmanship -- is aboveboard and high-quality.

I had my floors installed by Leo, and He did exelent job! He was experienced, on time, and did everything he promise. I am looking forward doing business with Leo.

The team out Four Brothers, LLC was outstanding in their work, professionalism and craftsmanship. The results of their work far surpassed what we requested and what we envisioned for our project. We requested for small outdated and useless closet to be converted into a bookcase and Four Brothers custom designed the project, implemented the work and even sent progress pictures throughout the day. We can't wait to use them for our kitchen revamp.

2nd successful bathroom remodel with 4B. Since this is a guest bath we wanted to keep the budget reasonable so we recycled RH cabinetry and fixtures. Installed beautiful soaking bath and replaced ugly tub surround with glass partition, large subway and accent tile. Tile designers also found wood look ceramic floor tile to retain spirit of the 100 year old house with modern updates. Guests love it. Unexpected things will happen but 4B always make it right.

Four Brothers renovated our kitchen and did a lovely job. We are very pleased with the outcome. Their design person, Kristen is top notch and the carpenters, Steve and Sean were the best. The work, from design to installation of cabinets, flooring, backsplash, appliances and countertops, was excellent. The team stayed on schedule and left the premises clean every day. Ben Johnson and his team were always responsive to any questions or feedback that we had throughout the course of the project. We would use them again in a heartbeat.

Four Brothers was a pleasure to work with on converting our full bath to a half bath. They showed up for meetings and work when they promised (or they called in advance to say way they could not), they met or exceeded the deadlines and budget for our project and they were flexible throughout the process. Communication was key (and excellent). They replied to emails promptly and had patience in the back and forth that occurred. The best endorsement I have is that we have hired them again for another project to start in May.

We hired 4 Brothers to redo our sun room, transform our attic into a master bedroom, redo our floors and build a mud room. They also redid two bathrooms. We interviewed 3-4 companies before settling on 4 Brothers. We were impressed by their presentation and no pressure approach. The builders were very communicative, prompt and polite - always. Mike even brought doughnuts every Friday for our children. Here's the bottom line. Their work is impeccable. We had not one delay in the work, nor an increase in pricing. Their people were on site every single day, like clockwork. Their calendar is adhered to religiously. They are thorough in the prep work and during the design phase and will bend over backwards to adjust whatever needs adjusting. And finally, they clean up every day for about 40 minutes. In sum, we were impressed by the big ticket items and the little things. We miss the guys, as do our pets!

Working with Four Brothers was great. We hired them for a complete kitchen remodel as well as a few other smaller things on our DC row house. Everything was taken care of properly -- a real full-service experience. The designer did a fantastic job translating our ideas into a well-designed project and the carpenters executed the plan well. Solid communication start to finish. Throughout the project they were proactive in looking for ways to make the outcome better or the process easier for us, rather than waiting for us to ask. I engaged Four Brothers to renovate my kitchen and open up my kitchen, living room and dining room into one large open area. I wanted a very modern look and Four Brothers delivered that in my rather small, U-shaped kitchen space. The attention to detail from start to finish was incredible, from meeting with Leroy and then the whole team, to having Zach Bornstein in my home everyday overseeing the project. Friends were shocked that I was living at home during the renovation but every night I would come home to an incredibly neat and clean house. There were a few hiccups as there normally are with these kinds of projects but each and every one was handled beautifully by Leroy and his team. The quality of fit and finish is extremely high and the service and attitude of the team is second to none. Four Brothers is expensive but worth it in the end. I couldn't be happier with the result. It is great to know that there are outstanding professionals around that take so much pride in their work and in their team.

I can't say enough good things about our experience remodeling our kitchen with Four Brothers. Although our previous contractors had done a decent job, they had been highly disorganized, stressful to work with, and seemed to be trying to squeeze every last dime out of us. In fact, the whole experience with our previous contractors had been so unpleasant that I had dragged my feet for two years before finding the emotional energy to go back out there on the hunt for a new contractor to redo our tiny, sad, 1950s kitchen. The minute I rant across the Four Brothers website, I knew the hunt was over but figured that our budget would probably be too tiny for them to consider working with us. Wrong! Not only were they happy to work with us (and our tiny budget), they went out of their way to help us find additional savings. They were also very responsive to questions, kept us in the loop on everything as the project moved forward, were extremely organized and on top of things every step of the way, and started and finished the project right on time. Now every time I walk into my beautiful new kitchen I just want to break out into a happy dance. Not only has it changed the function of our kitchen but it has also changed the whole function and flow of the first floor of our house. The change has been huge and all for the better. We couldn’t be happier!

If you care about your home, are a little nervous about a big renovation job and want top notch results I recommend Four Brothers. My home is a well built but older (constructed in the late 30's). I had never contracted with a design and build company for a major renovation and was especially interested in retaining my home's character as well as key elements of my home's interior design and structure. My renovation required major work on every floor of my home including major structural work (taking down dining room/kitchen wall), major construction to renovate existing bathrooms & kitchen and add a powder room, as well as "behind the wall" electrical, heating & AC , insulation and window improvement. From the initial design consultation to final walk through I am very satisfied with the company's knowledge, professionalism and commitment to hi quality results. The actual renovation was on time (three plus months). The design and planning time (which took longer due, in part, to my schedule ) was key to creating a working relationship that incorporated my goals for the renovation and the architect and designers' skills and creativity. All the individuals I worked with on this project were skilled and responsible. I was assigned a crew lead and project manager who were were either on site or available from 7:30 am until later afternoon each working day. The crews were courteous, took care with the house and kept the work site clean and neat. They were able to problem solve some of the challenges you find in older home and keep on schedule. It's difficult to measure but perhaps most important I believe the crew and leads took the responsibility of delivering a quality job. That attitude was key to me and built my over all trust that I had made the right decision to tear up my home after close to 30 years! I believe the results are stunning and credit the designers and construction crew for making quality improvements to my home. I also prefer a local company that is not large because you deal with the same people whether it's related to billing, design, or construction. My rating is not saying the process was flawless, no big project with all the choices, changes and individuals involved can be, but my overall experience rates the highest ranking available.

Our experience with Four Brothers was only positive from beginning to end. The team took pride in their work on every way (timeliness, quality of workmanship, communication, cleanliness) and made sure that their sub-contractors met that same high standard. Four Brothers renovated our master bathroom and closet. The project consisted of a complete redesign and remodel including everything from the design to tearing down to the studs and rearranging plumbing to construction of the new space. We wanted a better workflow, maximize the space, and a update the design, and we got it. Our Four Brothers project manager served as our point of contact throughout the entire project. At the onset of the design phase, they assigned a designer who managed the layout and design, She also participated throughout the construction phase to answer questions and provide assistance for ongoing decisions. A lead carpenter managed the day-to-day construction phase of the project and came onsite daily (on time, every day). The team provided clear, timely, and professional communications via their email, text, phone, and their website depending on the circumstance and our preference. The carpenters provided updates daily and enlisted our input consistently throughout the project. Every project has issues, as did ours. The team sought our feedback throughout the project and responded quickly to minor issues before they escalated to major ones. This team completed the project within 2.5% of the budget and within 1 day of the scheduled end date (they finished 1 day early). The carpenters paid attention to all of the details. For example, when they discussed the tile layout with me, they walked through every seam, tile cut, and edge. They designed the wall-tile layout so that the horizontal grout lines between the tiles on opposite walls lined up at the same height. These details resulted in a very professional and polished end-result.

We hired Four Brothers LLC to completely remodel our kitchen. From the outset, I found the company's representatives to be very professional and straightforward. They explained the contract and the work to be done in detail and answered all of our questions. The project was completed in a very reasonable amount of time, and we are very pleased with the new kitchen. We absolutely love our new, spa-like master bathroom! Working with Ben Johnson and his team of professionals was a straight-forward and pleasant process. We worked with several top-notch designers at the firm and relatively quickly arrived at an innovative design for the space we had to work with. Selection of materials took place at their lovely office and online, so we didn't have to travel to showrooms or warehouses to pick out tile or fixtures (our choice and it made the process so much more pleasant for us!). The actual work took place within a reasonable time frame and the workers were respectful of our house, cleaning up well after each day's work. Four Brothers did a complete gut and renovation of our master bedroom suite that resulted in a master bedroom, master bathroom and a dressing room with multiple wardrobes with shelves, drawers and hanging space. The result was a spectacularly lovely and peaceful retreat. There is not a day that goes by that we don't comment on the beauty of this space. The Four Brothers staff was enormously accepting of our creative ideas and willing to adjust things to meet what we wanted. They also guided us in the right direction to ensure that everything fit appropriately and was aesthetically pleasing. They were a delight to work with. The bathroom is breathtaking with a custom made dark brown walnut split floating vanity below a stunning slab of stonewood that covers the entire wall above the sinks and spans the countertop. The rest of the bathroom is tiled in a porcelain tile that mimics real stone and complements the backsplash. There is also a dark brown walnut floating cabinet in the bedroom. It is clear that the Four Brothers are master carpenters/craftsmen with old world skills and work ethic. The rest of the bedroom, bathroom and dressing room are a subtle shade of classic grey. The dressing room has uniform 8' wardrobe doors with long pulls masking interiors of shelves, drawers and hanging spaces of differing lengths. We wanted to remodel our master bathroom by taking out the tub, enlarging the shower and adding another sink. Four Brothers was highly recommended to us by friends who had used them for a similar master bathroom remodel. We can’t say enough good things about Four Brothers, from our first meeting with Ben, meeting with the designers Drew and Tamar, and then the actual remodeling process. During the design phase our ideas were listened to and carefully considered. The team patiently worked with us to accommodate our wishes. Nothing was off the table, however they kindly guided us in the right direction in the few instances when our ideas weren’t realistic. The actual construction process went very smoothly. Phil, the project manager, kept us well informed and was very responsive to questions and emails. The end result is a beautiful, modern bathroom that exceeded our expectations. We will not hesitate to call Four Brothers for our future remodeling needs.

Four Brothers is the second contractor I've used and the service they provide is worlds apart from the competition. I appreciated how professional everyone was -- from the extensive planning beforehand to the pre-construction planning meeting they held with me a week before work started where we discussed every detail and expectation. The crew did a great job of doing their best to stay on schedule despite surprises popping up (as is always the case with construction) and I appreciated the online Google calendar so I knew what was happening and when. Overall, their work was top notch and they helped me transform my basement from a dark and unpleasant space to a bright, modern and welcoming showstopper. We have had a wonderful experience with Four Brothers LLC. We renovated our 1920s tudor, extending the kitchen and adding a second floor extension, along with bathrooms. The architects did an incredible job of maintaining the integrity and tudor style of our home. In addition to the beautiful design, they were able to make modifications to our roof line and gutter system to correct drainage issues. We could not have been happier with the execution of the project. Everyone who worked at our home was courteous and respectful -- making the entire process run smoothly. We were also regularly informed and updated on the progress of the project -- and were informed of the budgetary considerations. All of our concerns were addressed immediately. We couldn't be happier with the end result and would gladly recommend them for a large project (like ours) or smaller projects.

These guys are incredibly great. On time, on budget and wonderful pre construction planning. We really didn't have any complaints but when one of the owners came by to inspect he added several items he thought might add to our satisfaction. No cost I might add. The construction crew was fantastic. Like family members. Cleaned up every day. Overall price was about in one with other bidders but the quality of the results couldn't have been better. Four Brothers, LLC thoughtfully redesigned and skillfully performed a total renovation of our 1300 square foot condo in the Foggy Bottom neighborhood of DC. And they did it while we were absent; living and working in Africa. We followed their lead as they represented us getting building permits from the DC government. As 4 Brothers developed floorplans we received clear drawings and options to choose from via Internet and worked with them to fine tune the plan. As it came time to select materials we had a few preferences that 4 Brothers acted upon and in other cases, 4 Brothers provided us good options from which to choose. Communications flowed extremely well between DC and Africa. Throughout the project we trusted their recommendations on layout, materials, changes, kitchen and bathroom fixtures, flooring and a significant soundproofing effort. We were thrilled with the results. With Alfred as lead on construction, Tamar overseeing details of interior finishes and Ben as our interface, 4 Brothers employees and teams of high quality sub-contractors worked with small spaces, difficult access, challenging aspects of the original building design, and even cranky neighbors, to ensure that our condo would be ready for occupancy when we returned from Africa. Each of the Four Brothers team members made us feel that our job was their most important. As we worked together by email and phone calls to make final decisions on infrastructure and finishing, and to accommodate our desire for some unique features such as an acacia wood bar that we shipped from Africa (a later challenge for Alfred and Phil to install). 4 Brothers excellent design and craftsmanship was accompanied by good documentation, honest assessments, and cost estimates that did not grow. And they were waiting for us the Saturday morning of our return to the United States to introduce us to our totally new home. We enthusiastically recommend 4 Brothers, LLC.

Over the summer in 2014, Four Brothers handled our first-floor renovation. This update included moving our kitchen to a different room and the addition of a powder room in our 1931 Chevy Chase home. Starting with the design phase, they instinctively got what we were looking for based on pictures we sent them and what was popular in our neighborhood. During the iterative process, they listened to our feedback, honed in on our crucial "must haves" and offered creative (and cost effective) options for us to achieve our goals. For materials, they directed us to several supply experts to guide us through the decisions. The construction team we worked with during the renovation were extremely proactive and responsive and we felt so comfortable with them that the lead carpenter (Mike) seemed to be part of the family for 3 months! Oftentimes, lost in the shuffle of contracting teams are the partners they work with. The subcontractors we met with were top notch and always communicative about what was happening. During the entire process, Leroy kept us feeling comfortable and up to date on what was going on. One of our big worries in starting a big job like this was what we'd find when the walls actually came down. He and his team put their experience and inspection process to the test to minimize any surprises arising from our older home. When we found the oddities during demolition (like stray pipes in crazy places and behind-the-plaster termite damage) they had already planned for it. Through it all, Four Brothers took what could have been a project-stopping problems and made them non-events. With Four Brothers on the job we accomplished everything we were looking for and more with our renovation. Throughout the process, Four Brothers worked with our modest budget and "Rolls-Royce" requirements and found innovative ways to deliver a fantastic result. We couldn't be more satisfied. Four Brothers did a full gut job on our Mount Pleasant row house. They took it from 'uninhabitable' to a beautiful, efficient, historic, wonderfully livable home. The work consisted of tearing down the entire back wall, tearing off the roof, gutting the entire house except for some historic features like stairs and wooden floors, bumping out the back, and building an additional story while remaining within the historic guidelines of Mount Pleasant. We conducted a rigorous search for contractors, and we interviewed 8 different firms that came to our attention for either green building practices, great reputation, or specific recommendations. Four Brothers was not the cheapest option, but they came across as tied for the highest quality product and they won us over with their smart, responsive team, creative design, and willingness to work with us through some green building ideas that were beyond the norm for our market. The Four Brothers team consistently delivered excellent service from initial quote to final follow-up. We cannot recommend them highly enough. The lead carpenter for our project came on weekends, worked early and late, and went to great lengths to make sure the neighbors were well-informed and accommodated during our significant renovation. This team is smart, polite, thoughtful, and committed tot their long-term reputation in the community. Throughout the design-build process - which was not without its stresses! - we trusted that the Four Brothers team was committed to delivering a strong, beautiful, and high-quality home. We are well pleased with their renovation of our kitchen and master bathroom. Asthetically impeccable. The lead everyday contractor, Sean, was clear, communicative, responsive, sensitive to our needs. Leroy, one of the principals, was with us from start to finish, was reasonable, accessible, and very attentive to our wishes, respectfully and persuasively chiming in with a different take from time to time, for which we remain grateful. What was particularly welcome is that Four Brothers finished on time, give or take a couple of days, and not including follow-up fixes which were not intrusive at all and some which were new items that we identified after the fact. Very professional and a pleasure to work with. We were interested in a Design-Build because we needed help with determining exactly what we wanted - we had broad strokes - and we wanted accountability from start to finish. Four Brothers delivered. We would not hesitate to hire them again and recommend them wholeheartedly.

We hired Four Brothers to create a bathroom and laundry area in a portion of unfinished basement in our 1910 row house. It is a pleasure to engage a company whose staff, from top to bottom, respects both the client and the work. All of our interactions with everyone in the firm, from design through construction phases, were straightforward, relaxed, and left us confident in the progress of our job. The project itself involved a number of subcontractors (waterproofing, plumbing, electric, drywall, tile) and our lead carpenter working in a very tight space on an ambitious schedule. Substantial coordination was required for things to stay on track, and to everybody's credit they did. Having worked with other contractors in the past, it was apparent to us that corners could have been cut at various points to save a little time or effort, but this did not to seem to cross anybody's mind. Such above-average professionalism and attention to detail made for a surprisingly worry-free project, and they will be first on our list when planning future renovations.

We are very happy repeat-customers of Four Brothers. Four Brothers did a complete redesign and overhaul of two 1913 bathrooms in our Mt. Pleasant D.C. home in 2009, from the skylights down to the floor joists (you can see the finished products on their website gallery – the Kenyon Street baths). When we were ready to renovate our kitchen this past summer and do some other first floor work (we removed an old gas fireplace and replaced tile in the foyer with new oak flooring), we went straight back to them. Now, we are considering rebuilding an addition on the back of the second floor, and can’t imagine anyone but Four Brothers doing the work. This family owned business (yes, there are four brothers) has many exemplary qualities. They have a talented and creative workforce, and are extremely reliable and full of integrity. What you see and hear is what you get -- no BS, they stick to their word. The firm was very creative in the design phase with both the kitchen and the bathrooms, reworking the available space and guiding us to the modern esthetic we asked for. They stayed on budget and finished our projects on time. The workmanship is the finest quality; they have very high standards, and don’t cut corners. For example, they corrected a chipped counter edge in one of the bathrooms that we hadn't even noticed. And, they are super clean during the work phase (which we really appreciated, living through the construction), sweeping every day before they leave. Finally, they communicated with us throughout the projects, keeping us informed of progress and developments. It is a pleasure working with everyone at Four Brothers, from the owners to the designers to the carpenters, and the final projects are fabulous and life-enhancing!

Four Brothers completed a renovation of the kitchen, basement and back porch of our 1900 rowhouse this past summer. This included waterproofing the basement, moving a staircase, putting in a full bathroom, and significantly expanding the kitchen. We were impressed throughout with their professionalism, attention to detail, and quality. With their significant experience with renovating older homes, they knew what to expect and came in on time and under budget. They clearly communicated throughout the project, and worked closely with us to resolve any unexpected issues that came up. We were very satisfied with how the work turned out. Four Brothers renovated the kitchen in my Cleveland Park apartment, tearing out everything and rebuilding it from the floor up. They finished on time and on budget, were a pleasure to work with throughout, and I couldn't be happier with my new kitchen. I have recommended them to friends and neighbors and will seek to use them again for my future projects. This project was my first substantial renovation, and Four Brothers expertly and patiently guided me through the whole process, from the design -- Leroy and the design team worked through many design/layout options for the smallish space -- through the construction itself. Fernando, the lead carpenter, was terrific and kept me apprised daily of the progress. Working in a 1928 apartment building, in a tight space, both my neighbors and I appreciated the care they took to minimize disruptions caused by the work; several neighbors commented on how smoothly the job went and how nice the team was. (And of several recent renovations in the building, mine was the only one to finish on schedule.) The vendors they work with are also excellent - knowledgable, responsive, and friendly. And when I identified a faucet issue several months after the kitchen was completed, they did not hesitate to come take a look at it and arrange for the necessary repairs. Having heard so many horror stories of construction projects gone awry (or abandoned), I was braced for problems coming into this project. I selected Four Brothers because the quality of their work and reputation gave me confidence that they would get the job done timely and well, and they delivered on all counts.

After using Four Brothers to install some built-ins in 2009, we went back to them to remodel our kitchen and install a powder room in our pre-WWII Dutch Colonial. We couldn't be happier with the results. Not only do they do great work, but we have found them to be very easy to work with. As a family with a busy schedule, we have come to value Four Brothers's flexibility and responsiveness. We would whole-heartedly recommend Four Brothers and are contemplating using them for future projects.

We give Four Brothers our highest recommendation. Our home is typical of many pre-World War II colonials in the Washington area with two small abutting bathrooms characterized by a stand-alone sink above which is a mirrored medicine cabinet and a single light, a toilet, and a tub with showerhead. For the rehab job, we asked Four Brothers for more light, more storage, and a walk-in shower with a rain showerhead. We got that – in spades! We now have two beautiful bathrooms that actually seem bigger and more spacious than their predecessors. These new bathrooms are light, bright, and have more storage space than we could have imagined. The Four Brothers crew was a delight to work with. They were timely, polite, knowledgeable, and cleaned up after themselves every afternoon. When we had questions, they were answered promptly and accurately. The 8-week job proceeded apace and was delayed for a brief period only by a tile company’s delay in product delivery. The project proceeded within budget. Most noteworthy is the complete honesty of the Four Brothers staff. When we were going over our final list of “check-list items”, one of the brothers spotted some hairline floor cracks that we had overlooked. We mention this because the remedy will require an amount of rework – removing and replacing three large tiles, pulling the toilet, etc. – that Four Brothers could have avoided and that arose only because of the company’s commitment to quality and integrity. When Four Brothers says that they want to do things right, you can believe it.

Working with Four Brothers has been a great experience as they designed and renovated three of our 1940 bathrooms, living room and upstairs hallway. The firm's team is highly professional and have the highest degree of integrity and trustworthiness. Glitches arise in any major construction-renovation, and when they occurred in ours, the owners went out of their way to resolve the issues to our satisfaction and always provided us options.

We've worked with a number of good contractors over the past 25 years in our house, but Four Brothers was by far the best -- in terms of quality of design, quality and timeliness of construction, price and overall responsiveness, reliability and professionalism. We highly recommend Four Brothers for any design-build project. Our project involved the demolition and reconstruction of a master bath and hall bath. With somewhat small bathroom footprints, we asked Four Brothers to help with a design that opened up the space, modernized the appearance and brought in more natural light. The design is modern and beautiful -- with curbless showers, floating vanities, and a six-foot glass panel in the master shower that brings in substantial light from a window in the adjacent walk-in closet. Josh, the Four Brothers designer, was wonderful with tile and fixture selections, totally in tune with our desire for high-end materials but always conscious about prices. We were able to incorporate natural stone, including marble tiles and soapstone counters, and top quality fixtures within our budget. And Four Brothers delivered the project a week early and well within the budget that we agreed to. The team was great to work with. The designer was always responsive, and came up with creative solutions and ideas. The on-site builder was responsible, always on time and respectful of our space, and he communicated daily with us about the progress of the project and any decisions that needed our attention. He ensured that our house was kept clean and as dust-free as possible throughout the course of construction. We loved Four Brothers. They exceeded, by far, all expectations.

Four Bros took my bathroom down to the studs and created a spa-like environment. On time, on budget and completely professional. Seems like the basics for contractors, but few deliver in every area, Four Bros not only delivered, but they exceeded every expectation. Turned over the complete design to them with very little of my own personal input. The wow factor doesn't even begin to describe the end results.

I hired Four Brothers to enclose a formerly-screened second- story "sleeping porch," converting it to a 3-season porch/sunroom. (They had recently performed a major renovation of the house next door, giving me an extended opportunity to become familiar with their work and practices.) I knew the look I wanted, and made most design decisions myself. I also performed all of the interior finish work myself. Four Brothers were pleasant and easy to deal with, readily accommodating my specific preferences and situation. The work was completed on time and within the contracted budget. I was pleased with the result.

I highly recommend Four Brothers for any renovation job. Leroy and his team were highly competent, thorough, and courteous. They worked around my schedule and travel and incorporated many last-minute suggestions. The craftsmanship of their work is unsurpassed. Every man on the team is a professional. Four Brothers renovated my kitchen and finished part of our basement. They completed most phases of the construction on time. Given that this was my first step into home improvement, Leroy and his team had to do a lot of hand holding and guide me through the process. The punch out process is the most frustrating step on any renovation project. Most contractors I've heard of will complete 95% of the job, then never return. Not the case with Four Brothers. They want to make the client happy. They have come back to my house several times to fix something discovered months after the project completion date. Four Brothers took down a load bearing wall separating the living room and a bedroom, replaced it with a half wall in order to open up the space, painted and refinished the wood floor in that area. They also replaced a formica kitchen cabinet with granite, added a subway tile backsplash, new sink faucet and hardware for the cabinets. Because the house is old, surfaces were uneven and the work therefore more time consuming. The Brothers did outstanding work. They are very easy to talk with, very responsive, and do work of the very highest quality. The price was also quite reasonable for what we had done (we got 3 or 4 bids).

We had put off a much needed remodeling of our kitchen for several years because the whole process and decision-making seemed daunting. We just weren't sure where to start. Neighbors recommended Four Brothers LLC and we were so impressed with their approach, experience, ethics, craftmanship, project management and professionalism. Their kitchen designer Liz was wonderful to work with. The resources they recommended for purchasing kitchen appliances, tile, granite, etc. were also great. Their subcontractors (electric & plumbing) were top notch. The skill level and communication abilities of their carpenters/workers were especially outstanding. It has been 2 years since Four Brothers remodelled our kitchen and we are still incredibly happy with the outcome. They worked very hard to give us a high quality result in a very acceptable time frame and at a price we believe was well worth it. We will defintely hire them again for home renovation projects.

We spent more than two years searching for the right contractor for our renovation. The project involved: major demolition of 1st floor kitchen, diningroom, and two 2nd floor bathrooms; a small addition to extend the kitchen, updated electrical, new plumbing, adding central air, refinishing all wood flooring and building a new deck. After completion of the design process (4 months), the project began in early July and was completed in mid-October. It was completed on time and within budget. We stored all household contents and vacated the house during construction. The success of our Four Brothers renovation involved the following: detailed planning of what the project would look like; regular communication from the start of the design phase to the completion of the project; listening to what we wanted and understanding our budget; an experienced staff, project manager, and vendors; providing detailed budget information for changes that we requested, with options; and follow-up after the project was completed for the next year. We can't emphasize enough the importance of two-way communication. We love our renovation and recommended Four Brothers to our neighbors. They hired them to transform their basement into a two-bedroom apartment.

We highly recommend Four Brothers who built our screened in porch. It is not an ordinary porch but thanks to the design and craftsmanship, it is a unique addition to our home. The space is practical for our family while also shows great style. In addition to demonstrating great craftsmanship, the company upholds the highest integrity. Over the course of the project, all of the employees were hardworking, honest and committed to the final product. The project was well organized and the company was receptive to feedback and demonstrated flexibility. Four Brothers took steps beyond the usual expectations to ensure that the final product looked just right—from the porch door, to the floors to the top notch paint job. We have worked with many companies over our years as homeowners and Four Brothers is by far the best. .

Four Brothers did a complete gut-job of our kitchen this past summer, and we could not be happier with the end result! We had an 80s builder-grade galley kitchen that we had gutted down to the studs and built back up in to a now beautiful and modern kitchen. Due to it's layout (galley-style) we weren't knocking down any walls or moving too much electrical/lighting/plumbing, so it's layout remained largely the same, though it was a very comprehensive project. Four Brothers was the only company who gave us a comprehensive and accurate bid from the start (most others came, took literally 5 minutes or less to look at our space, and then sent us a bid, without truly having an understanding of the nuances of our project or the full scope of work that would need to be done). Their initial bid to our final bill was spot on. We had one project manager who was on the job all day every day. He did most of the work himself, and managed all of the tradesmen that came in to do work outside his scope (the tile guy, electrician, plumber, etc). Every single person we encountered was very professional and responsive (they've come out twice since the project wrapped up to take care of two minor things), and took great care to keep our house as clean and organized as possible during the chaotic time of renovating a house in which you are still living! They put up plastic "walls" with zipper doors to try to contain the dust, and ran some sort of air sucking machine each day to remove as much dust from the air as possible. Four Brothers provided us with a mini fridge, a microwave, and a hot plate to use throughout the renovation, so we were able to make some (very basic) meals at home throughout the project. This seems insignificant, but it was a nice touch, and speaks to the kind of company that they are, and their focus on customer service. They worked Monday-Friday (no weekends), and they stuck to their timeline down to the day, which was key for us, since we were due with our first child within a month or so of the renovation. I can't recommend them enough!

We contracted Four Brothers a year ago to design, and complete, a renovation in our basement. I cannot recommend them highly enough!!! Everyone we dealt with at Four Brothers was extremely professional and a pleasure to work with. After our initial meeting, we were given a detailed schedule of completion dates - every date was met on time and in perfect order. Four Brothers was efficient in working with the gas company and other outside contractors - which was a huge time saver for me. The finished product was (and is) fabulous. I would contract Four Brothers for ANY future jobs we might require. I would be happy to speak with anyone who is considering them, but would like more information.

We hired Four Brothers to do a partial kitchen remodel, and they did an outstanding job. They helped us with design, and gave us a really beautiful space, while going out of their way to address our preferences (they sourced a lot of eco-friendly materials for us, at our request). They finished on time and within budget, and were friendly and pleasant throughout. I would hire them again in a heartbeat.

We had a huge, wonderful screened-in porch added to our home in Palisades. Four Brothers designed and built the porch, adding many individual touches that really personalized the space - built-in storage, extra large windows and high ceiling with exposed beams. It's become our favorite space in the house. We have also had Four Brothers renovate our bathrooms, turn a garage into an office and we'll be calling them next for a kitchen renovation. The team was very professional and a pleasure to have working on our home. We would not hesitate to recommend them.

Four Brothers was recommended to me by my next door neighbor, and I did see first hand the results of their work. I was interested in having my basement finished in a high-end manner (including wet bar and full bath), to really create an inviting space for my family and friends. What I brought to the table is my personality: being extremely particular in every detail, not wanting a disruption to my life during the process, and scared to death about losing sleep and gaining stress. To me, the most important factor was my trust and confidence in Four Brothers. Their caring nature made me feel like the fifth brother. They were able to listen to and understand my desires, then help me make informed decisions. I have worked with other contractors (full kitchen renovation) that could be cheaper for someone interested in flipping a house, but if you are getting work done on your own home and you want to not be worrying about walls caving in, enjoy (really, no kidding) the process, and relish in the results, I’d go with Four Brothers. You would never guess, but I now prefer showering in my new basement bath.

I purchased a home built in 1950 which had very outdated bathrooms. With three full and one half bath, I knew it would be a large project. I evaluated and received price proposals from several contractors. The proposal approach taken by Four Brothers was definitely much more personal than the approach the other contractors were taking. Leroy Johnson really went into great detail looking at the property, making suggestions, talking about other jobs that he had done that were similar, talking about things that I should consider, etc. I got the impression that he was remodeling this house for a family member or a friend more than just a client that he had never met before. During the course of the actual project, Leroy also suggested other updates to the home, including upgrades to insulation and electrical systems. Throughout the job, which took months, I was always kept updated where they had delays, which were inevitable I think, and I was informed ahead of time so that they were not detrimental to my overall schedule. The bathrooms were completely gutted and transformed with custom tile, natural stone and custom cabinetry. Most importantly, the end product was superb and came in within budget. Four Brothers LLC remains the best of all the contractors that I have used for various projects at my home.

We had Four Brothers renovate our third floor attic to create a bedroom for our daughter. This involved gutting the attic and then rebuilding the walls- putting in insulation and building a bookcase into the wall with cabinets underneath. They also replaced the sky lights. This job took place during a snow storm in February 2009. Leroy had estimated it would take 3 weeks and even in spite of the snow storm the job was finished on time and very well done. We are thrilled with the results. Ben who did the work and also suprevised the project was courteous, a pleasure to work and always polite and respectful. I would highly recommend them and only regret not knowing about them for other projects we had done on the house.

We had our bathroom remodeled with Four Brothers not long ago. The level of service at Four Brothers was truly outstanding. They listened, worked with our ideas, and rolled with the punches as we made changes here and there to our original design. After being extremely satisfied with several smaller jobs done in our home by this company, we hired the Four Brothers to design and build a new kitchen for us. The overall design was brilliant! They even presented a creative idea for connecting our existing flooring to our new marmoleum floor, and suggested an innovative stone range hood to complement our stone wall in the great room. All of their deadlines were met and they completed the project within our budget guidelines. Every day before leaving they always cleaned up by vacuuming and sweeping the area and also putting all tools away. They are extremely courteous, enthusiastic about their products and very easy to work with. I will hire them again as more renovations are needed in my home.

Four Brothers did an outstanding job renovating our townhome! The renovation involved total gutting of all the systems, wiring and plumbing, a new roof, new windows, doors, moving of walls and addition of numerous architectural details (arched doorways for example). Their workmanship was incredibly high standard. They left no stone unturned in making a beautiful finished product. The project came in on time and within budget. Almost 4 years later, the home still looks fantastic inside and out and the systems work perfectly.

Four brothers remodeled the kitchen in our apartment. They were absolutely the ideal contractors. They were professional, friendly, trustworthy and very very courteous. They provided excellent guidance and technical advise during design, kept us regularly updated throughout implementation of the project, pro-actively resolved all potential project-related challenges and finished the project on time and within budget. During construction, as our apartment was small and the project took up a significant amount of living space, we moved in with a friend who lived nearby. We left the apartment to four brothers, and they proved to be excellent care-takers and trustworthy. After the project, I have referred several colleagues and friends without any hesitation. If I have another remodeling project tomorrow, I would, without any hesitation, choose four brothers.

Provided design and build services for a complete gut of the top-level of a single family home, including master bathroom and three bedrooms. Provided blown-in insulation in roof and all exterior walls, as well as a new design of the master bath and one bedroom. The master bath is the gem of the project, with a much more efficient use of space and a sleek, contemporary look. The work was high quality and all of the craftsmen were professional and courteous. The project was completed within the pre-defined timeline and budget range. We would definitely consider Four Brothers for a future project.

Have had Four Brothers remodel the bathroom in 2010 and the kitchen in 2012. They are excellent. Good quality work at a reasonable price. Leroy usually plans the design phase and takes every detail into account, so there is very little that is not anticipated. Have good ideas. That fit with contemporary taste. Get work done pretty much on schedule with a few delays. They take good care of your home while they are working in it. Very accommodating and easy to work with.

Four Brothers just finished our complete kitchen renovation and we could not have been more pleased with both the process and result. The new kitchen perfectly matches what we discussed as our vision for the new kitchen during the design phase. The kitchen is now a beautiful and functional space for our family to cook, eat, and socialize. From the time of our first consultation with Ben Johnson through the design and construction phase, we had no complaints. Ben took the time to meet with us during the initial discussion phase and prepared a very comprehensive, detailed, step by step plan of how to fulfill our needs within our budget. Ben was involved in the project from inception to conclusion – there was always an open dialogue with Ben and his team. We then had the opportunity to work with Liz St. Rain, our kitchen designer, who imagined a space that we had never thought was possible. Liz was very patient with our needs and managed to fulfill all of our expectations in her design plan. In addition to her design expertise, she was incredibly courteous, responsive, and just an all-around really kind and thoughtful person. Our construction was led by the foreman, Fernando Landivar, and we found his workmanship, management style, and respect for our space terrific. Despite losing several days to a snowstorm, Fernando worked overtime to get our kitchen remodel back on schedule. Fernando’s attention to detail was much appreciated. Fernando would debrief us either every evening or in the morning so we knew what stage they were in the construction, what had been done, and if any problems arose. The few issues that did arise actually worked to our benefit. Fernando discovered that the original electrical and plumbing work needed to be corrected to ensure that it was safe/to code. He also discovered that our ceiling could be raised in the kitchen to match the rest of the house and worked to incorporate that into our design plan – we love the higher ceiling. Fernando was very respectful of our choices and would often ask us questions relating to different details in the kitchen. We always felt that communication was open and solicited. All of the personnel affiliated with Four Brothers, including the vendors they worked with to make our dream kitchen a reality, were professional, courteous, and performed excellent workmanship. The enthusiasm that they brought to the job and their genuine interest in making our kitchen a successful project was much appreciated. We would highly recommend Four Brothers for any home renovation project, big or small.

Four Brothers just completed the renovation of a bathroom for us. We're very pleased with the result and with the way the project was handled. The day-to-day work couldn't have gone more smoothly. The foreman on the job kept us apprised of what was going on each day and consulted us about how unexpected problems should be resolved. He coordinated a crew of plumbers, electricians and other subs very efficiently. We were impressed with the friendliness and competence of the workers in our home. At the front end of the operation, one of the brothers, Leroy Johnson, met with us initially and spent time with us in showrooms where we picked out materials. He is extremely pleasant to deal with and has good taste. He steered me away from trying to replicate mosaic tiles I'd seen on a trip to Venice and encouraged us to stick with our original very contemporary design. I'm glad he did. We first got to know Four Brothers a few years ago when they renovated our kitchen and master bath and did an excellent job on both. We are very impressed with their operation and would definitely use them again.

We hired Four Brothers to do a complete remodel of our master bathroom, to both address serious moisture/ventilation issues and also to create a more appealing space. While the footprint remained the same, we removed and replaced all surfaces. We also had Four Brothers design and build a banquette in our kitchen. I can say only terrific things about Four Brothers. From beginning to end, the process was transparent and well-communicated. The impact of choices on overall budget was well-presented and the proposed contract was clearly itemized and easy to understand. From my first interaction with Ben, I was confident in his integrity and commitment to doing a top-notch job. The firm's design professional, Tamar, did an excellent job of translating my taste and design ideas -- which were pretty well-defined -- into a plan. She was prompt, experienced, and a pleasure to work with in planning the bathroom project. The project manager, Keith, was simply terrific to have around every day. He was tidy, respectful and extremely flexible. He did an excellent job of communicating progress and next steps to me, and was always on top of the schedule of the several sub-contractors who worked on the project. I never had to do any clean-up, as they designed a very effective dust management system and did any necessary clean-up at the end of every day. The end result is a gorgeous, highly functional bathroom as well a terrific looking, comfortable banquette. Both are actually what I was hoping for. I'm looking forward to using Four Brothers to renovate our kitchen in the near future.

We hired Four Brothers for a total bathroom renovation in our row house in DC. This job was down to the studs. It was expensive but you get what you pay for- high quality design, craftsmanship, and a beautiful result. We have a pretty small master bathroom, a bit under 6x9, but it feels much larger now. We raised the ceiling, added a skylight, and expanded the shower (sacrificing another bedroom's closet) with floor to ceiling subway tile and two niches for shampoo and such. Very happy with results. Only hiccup wasn't their fault: a shattered roof beam was discovered during the demolition phase, but repair was done quickly and no delay resulted. Great job- extremely pleased.

We hired Four Brothers to turn our porch/patio into a year-round sunroom and to widen the passage between our living and dining rooms. It involved structural, HVAC, electrical and painting/finishing. We are totally satisfied with the completion of the project. We are pleased with everything the company did on this project. We looked at a number of firms to do the renovation and we were impressed with Ben and his brothers from the outset. At every step along the way we found the whole team to be helpful, responsive and highly competent. The company has a very positive energy in its staff that made the whole project very easy. The designer's work and his suggestions for colors, flooring, and windows were good and helped us in the planning stages. Ben Johnson's input and explanation of the different components of the job made all our decisions easy. The lead carpenter on site, Phil, did a great job with the work itself. He is a skillful carpenter and innovative problem solver. The frames, walls, windows are solid, level and good looking. We were always impressed with the extent to which Phil went above and beyond the basics of a good job and sought for outstanding. Some examples that quickly come to mind include recessing the unexpected light switch into the brick wall, covering the entry stairs to the sunroom with custom cut and stained treads and risers, building a porch/stairwell that none of us had planned on, helping us hang the television and more. He was always on time and stayed as long needed. He was very pleasant to work with and both patient and engaging with our questions and conversations. He managed the staff and subcontractors well. We would recommend Four Brothers without hesitation to anyone.

Four Brothers is a top notch organization. From beginning to end, they were prompt, professional, and most importantly honest. I wanted an entertainment center that comprised of all reclaimed wood. Leroy and Alfred were integral in the creative process by listening to my ideas and also offering suggestions. We decided to incorporate reclaimed wood to make it a more elegant piece with a rustic look. Ultimately, I got a beautifully built piece of "art". It's definitely not a piece "everyone" would like, but it totally speaks to my esthetic and I love it. The craftsmanship is impeccable. They also did an amazing job tiling my kitchen. It was not an easy undertaking because the tile I chose was very difficult to work with. They were not your standard 2x3 style blocks that you just slap together quickly but rather a funky pattern that required skill in cutting and matching so the final product looks seamless. I can't praise enough the quality workmanship that went into making a perfect outcome. I had such a great experience with all the team members of Four Brothers. At one point in the middle of the process, I had changed my mind about a product. Leroy reacted with grace and accommodated my fickle decision by making sure I got what I wanted in the end. Their proven abilities of respecting and listening to the client, providing great customer service, delivering a solid product, and being patient are what makes them an outstanding choice.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Four Brothers! We hired Four Brothers to design and install various upgrades to our converted schoolhouse loft, including a large custom bookshelf, drywalling in formal bedrooms, moving, installing light fixtures, hanging doors, and painting. They also designed and converted a small closet into an office/pantry space we have dubbed "the phone booth." Four Brothers was very helpful in understanding our budget, listening to our ideas (some crazier than others), designing and implementing with our taste in mind, and gently offering advice on which we should reconsider. The end product is better than we ever imagined! Their work was high quality and professional. They also completed the job on time, and communicated every step of the way. I've been working with Four Brothers since 2006. They've done 2 big jobs for me and I've loved working with them. I did a kitchen and remodeled the back porch to create a beautiful eat-in nook off the kitchen. I love sitting their and looking out the windows into the back yard. Four Brothers is everything you want in a design-build firm. They are very easy to work with and they are excellent craftsmen. I also like their guidance on maintaining the architectural detail of my Federal style row-house. It has created a seamless look throughout the house and increased the value greatly.

We hired Four Brothers to renovate a small bathroom and perform structural and clean-up work in our cellar in our almost 100 year-old home. This is the second time we used the company -- we also used them to redo our kitchen in our prior home. We were very pleased with the end result of the work. Liz, the designer, did a great job helping transform my ideas for the bathroom into a beautiful end product. The bathroom went from drab and dingy to beautiful. Leroy once again was excellent to work with and did a great job understanding what we wanted from the work in the basement. The project manager on site was very punctual and did a fantastic job cleaning up every evening. The entire group responded quickly to any issues and questions we had during the process. Their responses were not only timely, but kept the project on budget and on time. We will definitely hire Four Brothers again for future projects.

I love our new bookshelves from Four Brothers! My initial contact with the company was through Leroy, who was very responsive, informative and helpful. The designer, did a great job asking questions that helped me clarify what I was hoping to accomplish in our home. The design she submitted to me was exactly what I had in mind, both practically and aesthetically. She was available to offer advice on the hardware I selected, and which looks perfect with her design. The person who came to do the work was courteous and friendly. His attention to detail was most impressive, and he did an outstanding job cleaning up at the end of both days he was in our home. He clearly took pride in his work. The bookshelf/cabinet combination are even better than I envisioned. Our house is an older home, from the 1930s, and the bookshelves manage to look both in keeping with that time period and fresh and modern. I would highly recommend Four Brothers to anyone looking for custom cabinetry."

This past fall, Four Brothers completed their third project here in our DC condo!
