Kitchen Choreography

This is the first bad review I have ever written…but feel so strongly about it, I feel like I must. I am an interior decorator and have also completed a number of personal renovation projects and this is the ONLY negative, stressful and infuriating experience I have had in all these years. I have had many people compliment us on our beautiful home renovation and a few ask who we used for our cabinetry because they needed a referral. I was quick to say “I used Kitchen Choreography…but DON’T use them”! There is no ‘Choreography' anywhere in their process. We recently underwent a whole-house extensive renovation with our fantastic group of contractors. My architect and I designed our renovation spaces and had complete drawings for our cabinetry needs. My ONLY mistake was hiring Kitchen Choreography to finalize the drawings, help with finishes and supply & install cabinetry in our Kitchen, Bar/Dining Room, Mudroom and Master Bath. Not a small job but certainly not their biggest. I became a low priority soon after writing the check for the first installment. I was passed off to employees who were nice but had no specific knowledge of my job or decision making ability. I am happy with my cabinets and like their finish. I would recommend the line but definitely not through Kitchen Choreography. Terrible communication, Disorganized and lots of Mistakes w/ No Accountability: Their answer to ‘accountability’ and fixing their mistakes is with “Change Order” fees for items already in the plans. 2.5 Months Late: you are at their mercy...they have your money. Installation: Their subcontractor was awesome and very detail oriented- but busy subcontractor schedules adds to delays. Countertops: They profited from being a go-between for counter tops but didn’t help. We had to go to KC to pick up and transport the marble pieces ourselves for the master bath shower. They were scratched and although they knew about the scratches...we had to handle communication ourselves with the fabricator to have the repairs made. Follow Up: Once the job was finally completed there was no follow up site visit. So much for their: “unparalleled service from the planning stage to project completion” as their website says.

I just recently had Kitchen Choreography remodel my master bathroom. They put in a walk in tile steam shower. Their designs and material choices were just what I wanted. Rick, the project manager was great and followed up quickly on any questions I had. The workmen they had do the various jobs (plumbers, electricians, tilers, painters,etc) were very responsible and careful. I have 2 cats and all workmen were careful to make sure the cats didn't get out. Angela suggested that I move the existing toilet so the shower could be bigger. This was initially more of a remodel than I had envisioned-BUT I am so glad I took her suggestion. It has made the new steam shower and bathroom fabulous. I am so happy with it. This is the 2nd remodeling project I have used Kitchen Choreography for and I would definitely use them again.

Excellent design work by Angela! Great communications with the construction manager Rick. The complete team of contractors were excellent, neat, organized and polite. Could not ask for anything more. Thank you! We love our new kitchen!

We absolutely loved working with Erika and Rick at Kitchen Choreography and their responsive, professional team to design and build our kitchen in our antique lake house. With a collaborative design process and excellent detail work by their craftsmen, we are thrilled with the result and are excited to be using the kitchen more than ever!

We first used Kitchen Choreography 8 years ago when building our home on Old Mission Peninsula. We learned of them from our architect and are glad we went with them. Angela worked effectively with our architect, offered recommendations and suggestions for design aspects beyond the kitchen and bathrooms, helped with interior color choices and made sure the overall design worked. Her project manager worked with our builder to insure coordination of the plans and to insure dimensions as the project proceeded. The hood for the range was custom made in their shop and the center piece of our kitchen. The results were outstanding. I purchased a fixer upper in Ann Arbor that needed a complete kitchen redo and we used Angela on this project also. It turned out to be another great experience working with Kitchen Choreography. They even coordinated a trip to Ann Arbor to confirm all of the drawing measurements to insure the cabinetry all fit. It was then time to finish the basement in our new home and again, we used Kitchen Choreography and couldn’t be happier with the end result. My next project was my daughters recently purchased condo in DC. It also needed a kitchen redo and again Angela came through with a great design. This time, I had to make sure my dimensions were exact since it was a bit far for them to travel but everything worked great and the kitchen looks awesome. I’ve also used Angela for several smaller bathroom remodels that have also been positive experiences and outstanding results. My favorite project was adding a wine cellar in the basement of our Old Mission home. The design was jaw dropping and her suggestion of a reclaimed pine counter top, manufactured in their shop, was the perfect finish to a beautiful wine cellar. At each of our meetings on each project, Angela’s staff would prepare samples of the various design items, cabinet doors, knobs, floor samples, paint samples, and other design related items so we could envision how each of our design decisions fit together and give us a good idea of the finished project. Kitchen Choreography along with its wood working shop for those custom pieces of a design is definitely a one stop shop for interior design.

My company worked in cooperation with Kitchen Choreography on projects during the summer of 2015. Not only is their work highly impressive, but they are a pleasure to work with. We provided interior decorative privacy window film as well as solar control window film to filter UV rays. I look forward to working with them again in the near future.

We recently finished up a major reno with KC of our Suttons Bay condo, which transformed a 1980's faux-Miami decor into a very modern, clean, year round design. This was a very complex project, involving, I think, every trade in the business, from moving walls to HVAC, to USB electrical outlets. Throughout the project, we enjoyed a fine collaborative relationship with all the KC people, who were supportive, innovative, atuned to our tastes, and helpful in every detailed decision. They have continued to be responsive to the few little details that inevitably arise from such an undertaking. Toward the end, KC's electrician declared our condo to be the "coolest on the lake", and we choose not to contradict him. We couldn't have done it without you, KC people!

Angela, Mike and the Kitchen Choreography team designed and installed our wonderful new kitchen. The entire process, from the initial design conversations to the final installation was wonderful. At various points in the project many members of their team were involved. Not a one disappointed. Each was friendly, easy to work with, and above all, came with deep knowledgeable and experience in their particular area of expertise. Without exception, every one involved with our project reflected the Kitchen Choreography values of excellence and customer service. Coordination among team members was seamless and communication was excellent throughout. Our project came in on time and within the predicted budget. The team gave freely of their knowledge and worked seamlessly with the other contractors involved in our larger, home renovation project. Being new to the area, they also freely offered suggestions for quality contractors we needed for other parts of our project and even used their influence to make them available. Compared to some projects Kitchen Choreography had underway we were not the largest or most lucrative for them. But we never for a moment felt that we were secondary to any other work going on. In every respect Kitchen Choreography is superlative. We do not hesitate to recommend them without reservation.

Kitchen Choreography helped us design our entire new cottage. I went into the showroom planning to order kitchen cabinets and ended up using Angela to coordinate everything including the kitchen, bathrooms, electric, floor materials, colors and even direction of the nickel gap boards. Kitchen Choreography also built a vanity from reclaimed wood for us that turned out great. We live 5 hours from our cottage and we trusted Angela to work with our builder on the details when we couldn't be there. We absolutely love how it all came together and could not have done it without Angela and her staff!

The designer offered us many styles to choose and she listened to our thoughts on design for our lifestyle. She also designed around our home style so that the kitchen blended with the home. Her suggestions were creative and made significant changes to allow more light into our home and added work space since we do alot of cooking. Budget and deadlines were not an issue. Improvements were made that were essential to the structure and insulation of the home. Items we had not considered but added to the overall outcome and structure of the house and kitchen. The communication between all involved was outstanding. The crew was respectful especially when during the project we iniated changes to the original plans. They actually felt like family entering our home. They made the demolition fun. When the project was completed we were sad to end the relationhip. They certainly lived up to their highly respected community recommendations.

I was lucky enough to work with Angela, Rick and team at Kitchen Choreography on the rehab of an lovely, but dated, lake cottage. We gutted and face-lifted the entire home including the kitchen and 3 bathrooms. The dynamic could have been difficult, as I am an interior designer based in Chicago and KC/project are in another state. However, the process proved seamless. KC was timely and clear in their questions and communications. We had a team approach right from the start which carried through the project. Ideas were shared and decisions were easily reached, benefiting the client and the project timeline. They shared local resources for custom metalwork, cabinetry, and window coverings. They made my job 110% easier. It was a PLEASURE working with them and I highly recommend them as a General Contractor.

From start to finish Kitchen Choreography provides outstanding design, planning and installation. Angela spent a lot of time understanding our lifestyle and listened to what we wanted out of our space. They designed our kitchen, bathrooms, laundry room, dining area, sunporch and put together a color scheme for the entire house. The layout and placement of each drawer, door, shelf, etc....was incredible. No detail was overlooked. The quality of the cabinets is excellent. We built our home from out of state requiring extra coordination and effort. Angela worked closely with our builder and architect to ensure nothing was overlooked. Each point of contact with the team at Kitchen Choreography was excellent. I cannot say enough great things about everyone at this company.
