JD Ferguson Design

We live in a modest 3-bedroom ranch in the suburbs of Chicago. We raised our family here and have recently invested in some remodeling of the interior - new kitchen/dining room space, updated baths, new hardwood flooring, new efficiency windows and a beautiful new fireplace. We love how it turned out, but felt the exterior grounds could use some refreshing as well. So we asked JD Ferguson Design to create a conceptual design of our property for us. He provided some interesting, new and innovative opportunities that opened our eyes to the possibiliites that we have with our little half acre by the river. His masterplan gave us beautiful options that could be implemented over a 3- to 5-year timeframe, which was a very practical approach for us.The creative flair he demonstrated combined with current trends gave us the perfect impetus we needed for our next step. Thanks, Jeremy.

I had the pleasure to work with Jeremy while he was in Shanghai, China. He is someone with a truly international pedigree; having lived and worked in northern Australia, Shanghai and the US for a number of years. Yet geography has not limited his vision to create timeless landscapes and articulated stonework and detailing that complement luxurious estates and commercial plazas. Integrity is an important value for him as it ensures a high level of quality appropriate to the built environment. Jeremy has a personable demeanor, a down-to-earth attitude and importantly has a sense of humor. I think he can just as quickly sketch something out for you (a trait becoming more ratified in the age of computers) as he can tell you about it. Well-rounded and highly recommended.

I hired JD Ferguson Design to provide a landscape design and a deck design. Their designs were great, and their execution and follow through was fantastic. My front and back yard turned out even better than I expected. They talked to me to find out what I was looking for, then they shared design ideas with me before committing anything to paper. Once we were on the same page with the general look and fell, JD Ferguson Design put a detailed plan together that exceeded my expectations. They constructed a multilevel deck with an attached dog run on the side. They also installed landscape planting around the deck and the perimeter of the yard. What they created was a wonderful outdoor entertainment space that brought us outdoors much more frequently than prior to their work. They also implemented an open lawn space plan with fresh sod in the backyard. In the front yard, they put a wood split rail fence in the front yard that looked phenomenal and did some privacy planting with trees and bushes that complemented the fence well and provided some shade for the yard and some privacy for the house. I highly recommend JD Ferguson Design.

Always a consummately professional colleague, Jeremy was responsible for designing and overseeing many projects, often several at a time, while exceeding client satisfaction and meeting deadlines. In a fast paced environment, Jeremy was consistantly able to come up with imaginative concepts and develop them to a level a detail that show his undeniable knowledge of the built environment. His ability to communicate his ideas and detailed design through tremendous hand graphics, Sketchup and AutoCAD made it easy for his teams and clients to understand his ideas. Jeremy has the ability to guide a project from concept all the way through to construction documentation and is supremely knowledgable of technical construction issues. The staff under Jeremy’s guidance flourished and became more technically adept and polished designers. He was always willing to offer his assistance to his colleagues and his rapport with his clients allowed for the best ideas and most technically competent ideas to be developed.
