When I started my project I commissioned Hartwells as the architect. I was completely green on what to do so wanted a full service company and able to advise. I got on well with Hartwells, lots of advice though I was clearly paying for it Over £30K before a brick had been laid. Then HMY bought Hartwells and while there was a lot more to do on my project, planning permission was in process, drawings had yet to be complete though lots of drafts, HMY clearly weren't interested and I had to argue with both the sellers Hartwells who did support me and HMY. Also the architect who was on my project stopped working for them, I believe he was laid off. Then they said they couldn't do anything more as they used a different drawing package. My project was multi building, one building still had to be designed. A holiday let, I specified a single bedroom, it was drawn as having two bedrooms. The main building was still in draft with changes to bring it at least close to what I had asked for from the very start still outstanding, ensuite bathrooms drawn which ignored the structure of the building. Then COVID hit and they basically closed their offices, I was looking at starting from scratch as I was weeks away from my application timing out.
I had to finish and redraft my drawings using "Fireworks" basically a painting package, in order to get them to planners in time. I did the lobbying. I brought in District Councillors HMY did nothing.
Even so, when it came to starting building I wrote to HMY asking for a quote for the next step - Hartwells no longer existed, HMY theoretically had the closest there was to scale drawings. No reply.
Now, having muddled along on my own, having spend what for me was a small fortune to absolutely ensure I got everything right, I am having to find an architect to reproduce the original drawings for my structural engineer.
I have no idea when my project will finish
