I never liked my old master bathroom as its design was very 90s and it also didn't have a bathtub. The remodeling was a huge undertaking as the whole bathroom pretty much had to be gutted, as there wasn't anything that was worth keeping. Faye came highly recommended. She was instrumental in helping me pick the new material and she made sure I got good prices. She also spent many hours designing the new bathroom and made sure the new bathroom would be both functional and modern. She coordinated with the plumbing team, the tile people, and the painters and was on top of things. The transformation was stunning and I have been enjoying the new bathroom every single day!

My husband and I needed a general contractor to manage the renovation of our powder room, laundry room, guest bathroom, and master bathroom. While we already had a designer who provided the initial concept, we were looking for someone to bring it to life and oversee the entire process. I found Faye on Houzz—or rather, she found me! We had just parted ways with a contractor a few days before they were set to start, so I uploaded our project scope, design concept, and material list to Houzz. From there, I selected about ten general contractors to interview and walk through our home. Each one received our designer’s renderings and material selections, but Faye stood out immediately. She arrived at our first meeting with a meticulously organized notebook, complete with dividers for each room, samples of every paint color and tile we had chosen, and thoughtful design improvement suggestions. One of her best recommendations was using Porcelanosa tile throughout the space, which turned out beautifully. What we didn’t realize at first was that Faye is not just a talented general contractor—she’s also a designer and a lighting specialist. Although her quote was the highest, we quickly saw that she was worth every penny. She met deadlines, stayed on budget, and the final results exceeded our expectations. She’s professional, punctual, and easy to work with, whether you need full design services or someone to execute plans from a designer you already love. Throughout the project, we made a few strategic changes based on Faye’s expert advice, either to modernize the design or reduce costs. For example, we swapped out $1300 pendants in the powder room for $500 sconces and upgraded all the tile to Porcelanosa. We also opted for large-format tiles in the master and guest bathrooms, along with new sinks and a rain showerhead. I never considered myself a tile enthusiast before, but I absolutely love the finished look. Faye’s crew is just as impressive—highly skilled, detail-oriented, and professional. They kept the workspace clean and were some of the best tradespeople we’ve ever worked with. We will absolutely be using Faye again for future projects!

I got zero value for my $$$. She charges $150/hr and ever time she comes over with one tile and spends 2 hours. Not to mention the tile is 4-5 times more expensive than regular stores on top of it she takes 10% extra on the material if she procures. Total disaster and disappointment.

I did a house upgrade project during pandemic. Faye walked me through the whole process and we are making our home a much more loving place. I would recommend Faye to anyone.

Faye Nielsen designed and managed our complete master bath renovation. The project involved every design and construction element, wall tile, bath and plumbing fixtures, lighting and cabinetry. Faye helped me with the remodel of my kitchen. She was extremely responsive to my needs and really looked out for my interest. Her design is unique and not run of the mill. We were left hanging by a contractor that wasn't able to finish a glass tile back splash, installing a under cabinet vent hood and under cabinet lights in our kitchen. I wanted a very modern-looking bathroom, and a specific budget, and she was able to make it happen with her terrific connections with contractors and suppliers. The bathroom turned out better than I expected, and am so very happy with Faye and her team. My budget was not very high, given the style and selection I wanted, but she made it happen and I could not be happier! She is able to come up with terrific innovative solutions for space compartmentalization, lighting, and the overall flow of how a person's experience should be for that given area. Just look at her portfolio and it will speak for itself. The best part is she was absolutely fair with her pricing for the amount of work she did, so I had no issues with her at all. Would hire again 10/10 times!

We were impressed with the portfolio of work that The Neilsen Collection showed us and when we had the initial meeting it was clear that there was an immediate understanding of the work we needed doing and the style we were looking for. Faye offered us some excellent options and ideas that we had not considered. The various contractors did excellent work in a timely manner and we were very satisfied with the results.

Mrs. Nielsen was instrumental in creating a fabulous new home, from the very beginning of the design process through the contstruction process, and even on to placement and arrangement of furniture/paintings/decorative items after we moved in. Her input into the lighting of the house was crutial. She added refinements to the kitchen to eliminate unslightly wall outlets and switches, installing little items that were flush to the surface which activated appliances with a simple touch. And once the project was complete she was and is still available for consultation, more like a friend than an employee. I cannot recommend her highly enough.
