Review of Roof Contractor Alik Konovalenko: The contract consisted of the following: 1.Reroof the entire house, approximately 1850 sq feet, not including the garage. The work included hauling out all the resulting trash. 2.The roof includes a relatively flat area which leaked during rain before this work. Stopping this leakage was extremely important. This area is roughly 150 square feet & situated in near the center of the house. This area houses two sky roofs which were replaced with new ones as part of this contract. 3.Install rain gutters with appropriate number of drains on all sides of the house, except the south side. The work started around 08/13/2024 & completed around 10/14/2024. At the beginning of the project, there were some problems in communication and doing the work the way we had agreed. For example, I had asked Alik to not use our North side neighbor’s driveway to carry out the debris from the roof, to which Alik & the demolition foreman had agreed. The workers, in this case 3 or 4 non-English speaking guys, drove the truck to the neighbor’s driveway causing some minor plant damages. I could not communicate with them but was able to have them move out the truck. Ounce I talked to Alik and/or foreman, they restored the order and we had no major problems afterward. Throughout the project, Alik responded to problems and tried to improve the situation. For the relatively flat portion of the roof, Alik used material called “Touch Down” which is normally used for commercial buildings according to Alik. I give a lot of credit to him for using it, nobody I talked to suggested this material. We can’t claim complete success yet because we have not had any rain to test. But we did ½ hour water test with a hose with lots of pressure and we did not observe any leakage. Good sign. The entire work took about 2 months to complete. This is few weeks more than what was verbally promised but I have no major schedule complaints. Overall, I think the project went relatively well, the workers applied themselves diligently and cleanup was OK. I would hire him again, especially if the leakage in the flat portion of the roof is completely eliminated.
