EAG Studio helped my family through a complicated process to legalize our family home, and we remain deeply grateful for everything they did. Michael and the team brought patience, persistence, and considerable technical knowledge to the matter. They understood from the beginning that this was about much more than drawings and permits. It involved my elderly mother, our family’s stability, and a process that could easily have become overwhelming and financially burdensome. We know that EAG Studio is recognized for much larger, more creative, and highly sophisticated design projects. Our situation, by comparison, involved a great deal of administrative work, research, coordination, and negotiation with the City. It was not glamorous work, and it did not offer the firm any financial benefit. Nonetheless, Michael and the team accepted the challenge and treated our family with the same seriousness, care, and attention they would give to an important high-end project. They carefully examined every possible path, worked strategically with the City, and continually looked for ways to reduce costs and avoid unnecessary complications. They left no stone unturned. What impressed us most was their humanity. EAG Studio truly goes above and beyond to serve its clients and community. Michael and the team did not simply provide professional services. As someone deeply engaged in art and design, I value nuance, restraint, and a strong sense of place, all qualities that EAG Studio brought to every one of our projects over the past 15 years. Together, we created homes in Hawaii, San Francisco, and Charleston, each with its own architectural language and cultural context. In Hawaii, EAG developed a serene, tropical environment with subtle Asian influences, natural materials, layered textures, and a fluid indoor-outdoor relationship that feels effortless. In San Francisco, they navigated the city’s rigorous planning and permitting framework with precision, while still achieving a calm, refined urban residence. And in Charleston, they approached the historic fabric with sensitivity, creating a home that feels both rooted and quietly contemporary. What distinguishes EAG is their ability to synthesize personal sensibility with regional authenticity. There is a cohesion across all three homes, seen in the tailored detailing, spa-like bathrooms, and integrated landscaping—yet none feel formulaic. Their construction documents are exceptionally rigorous. Contractors had clarity, which translated into a higher level of execution. They also remained closely involved throughout construction, ensuring that the design intent was preserved at every stage. Equally valuable was their guidance on procurement and value engineering. They approached decisions with discipline and discernment, helping prioritize investments without compromising the overall vision. Over time, this relationship has evolved into a true creative partnership, one grounded in trust, attentiveness, and a shared appreciation for bespoke, place-sensitive design.

I worked with EAG on a major expansion of our Cow Hollow home, from early design through entitlement, construction, and beyond—and the experience exceeded expectations at every step. EAG handled the entire process seamlessly: thoughtful design, complex entitlements, and hands-on construction management that made what could have been an overwhelming project feel surprisingly simple. In 2011, my partner and I decided that it was time to renovate our Corona Heights home. Vin Leger was highly recommended to us by a mutual acquaintance and after seeing examples of his previous home projects, we quickly decided that he would be good fit for our renovation project. Our working relationship spanned two years. The first year or so was spent in design consultations as we refined concepts and ideas and discussed budgets and timelines. He listened to us carefully about what we wanted to accomplish with the renovation and always provided us with options and solutions. Our to-the-studs renovation took 10 months and Vin shepherded us through the entire process. He was always calm and collected and worked expertly with our general contractor. The final product was a well-designed modern home that reflected our own taste and style and realized by a highly skilled design professional. The house recently sold for 25% over asking because it looked so good. We can’t recommend Vin highly enough.

Vin has a gift for beautiful design. He is professional, courteous and respectful of our ideas. He is also conscious of costs, timeliness, and is practical.

EAG Studio Vin Léger and Becky Chan My partner, Rich and I have renovated several homes through the years and working with EAG was by the far the easiest and quickest of any project we have ever done. Vin and Becky are so responsive as well as their entire team. We loved their drawings of the new space, we gutted a 1600 square foot space in a Pacific Heights tower and to our joy the finished product looked like those initial drawings! Vin works with terrific subs who do great work in a timely manner. No matter what is going on Vin remains cool and calm. At the completion of the project I remember telling our realtor, Rebecca Schumacher/Sotheby's Realty, who introduced us to Vin, "I wish I had a 10,000 square foot home, I could just continue working with EAG, they make it fun, interesting and I just like having them around!" A remodeling/renovation/design project is a close relationship, so it is important you like whom you are working with. In less than 6 months Vin and Becky created all of our designs, took the apartment down to the concrete and bare walls, oversaw our GC, worked with our HOA in a 65 unit building and then decorated our apartment creating a space that was just right for us. Vin from EAG Studio was recommended to us in mid-2012 as we were in the process of buying a single family home in Cow Hollow. The existing floor plan was a disaster and the entire house needed a full update. Vin worked with us to redesign the floor plan, add square footage and finalize all the finish decisions before helping us select a contractor. We also asked Vin to oversee the GC that we finally hired to execute the design. Vin has a strong design ethic but also listens well to develop a home that befits his clients. It was a relief to have Vin's experience to help us select all the finishes (tiles, grout color, flooring, countertops, hardware) as the number of decisions to be made combined with all the choices can be overwhelming. His feedback and knowledge of the SF permit process was also extremely valuable in order to avoid lengthy delays in the construction project. The entire process of designing and renovating our 2300 sq ft home took approximately 15months.

We found EAG while house shopping. They had designed and furnished a place that we were out-bid on, so we hired them to help us find and design our new home. Vin worked with us throughout our buying process to find a home with the right potential and value. He did a fantastic job opening up and designing our dream home and getting us through the construction and all the way to furnishing it.
