Megan is an exceptional designer. She transformed our home into a beautiful and cohesive space that is completely livable with young children. Her vision and instincts are spot on, and the rooms have turned out just as she envisioned them. She’s wonderful to work with — hard working, creative, responsive and trustworthy. Megan made the whole process easy / fun, and she gave us results that were beyond what we could have imagined. We are very excited to work with Megan again whenever the opportunity presents itself!

My husband and I were searching for a home for over a year when we found a lovely "cottage" with great bones, but in desperate need of a facelift! We found Dichotomy Interiors on Houzz and after looking at past projects, knew we had to work with Megan! Megan managed to transform the interior of our home completely- from dark and dingy to a bright, cozy, beautiful space! Megan's taste level is impeccable and her vision and attention to detail is second to none. Everyone that worked on our home was professional and meticulous. We couldn't be happier with their work! We were on a tight timeline and Megan managed to keep the project moving quickly and on budget. As our house is in Red Hook, we were so happy she "crossed the river" for us. Megan made our renovation, what can many times be an incredibly stressful process, lots of fun! She's not only talented, but a pleasure to work with!

Dichotomy Interiors is the absolute best! From an inspired reimagining of the exterior to a complete renovation of the interior, Megan transformed my dated 1970s contemporary into a spectacular organic-modern retreat. She took the time to fully understand my vision and improved on it beyond anything I could have imagined. With her well-trained eye and great taste, Megan selected items at various price points to create a space that is beautiful, functional, warm, and entirely unique. Megan managed the entire 4,000 square foot project, overseeing and coordinating various local artisans and tradespeople with whom she has cultivated strong relationships over her years working in the Hudson Valley. Perhaps most importantly, she is committed to finding the best prices and somehow manages to stay on budget and schedule. I honestly don’t know how she does it. It is exceptionally rare to find a designer who is both a creative visionary and a practical, budget-minded project manager. Megan is that and more. I could not recommend Dichotomy Interiors more highly.

I cannot recommend Megan highly enough. She did 2 bathrooms for us this year and we are moving on to reno the rest of the house. She is more than a designer - she is a complete pro A-Z from vision through execution. She not only has great aesthetics but she understands the construction in order to manage the entire team. In fact, she out-contracted our first contractor… As for design, we are aiming to update our 1960's ranch to a minimalist, organic modern style. The master bath is a complete dream that I never want to leave. A mutual friend from the city referred me to her and I would pass along that advice without reservation.

I highly recommend Megan and Dichotomy Interiors. She helped us to chose furniture, fixtures and lighting for a new 3 bdrm country house. She also connected us with local artisans for custom work. She was extremely professional, organized and collaborative and worked quickly and efficiently given our tight timeline and budget. She went above and beyond to help us find the right pieces and to stay within our budget and timeline. She has a great eye and excellent taste and found many pieces I never would have found on my own. She helped to coordinate orders and deliveries and was very helpful given that we were not always in town.

I have worked with Megan on 2 jobs in the last 5 years. The jobs were very different in scope though Megan's professionalism and vision provided for remarkable service in both instances. I couldn't recommend Megan more highly. She has an incredible eye, and I love her sense of style. She is very focused on the details of a job while never losing site of the overall grand design she is creating. Megan is also great to work with and a lot of fun. She is very responsive and helpful and goes above and beyond what is required. She is a true gem!

Megan was fantastic to work with! Very efficient and on organized! She was super communicative and honest with her opinions. Our personalities matched up extremely well, which made for a really easy, fluid relationship right from the start. This was our first experience working with a decorator and we were more than pleased. She was supportive of our vision, encouraging of versatility, and suggestive of novel ideas and concepts we knew nothing about! In terms of cost for the project, she was extremely fair with billing her hours, and didn't charge/take percentage for miscellaneous extras that other designers tend to do! My husband and I would definitely use her again for future projects and recommend her services to anyone in the area.

I think it is rare to complete a renovation project and feel strongly that your designer/project manager is an honest, trustworthy, and talented joy to work with, yet after 6 months and a complete renovation of a 2000 sq ft house, I can recommend Megan without reservation. My project was to take a 2000 sq ft house that had not been renovated since construction in the 80s and update it entirely. I actually thought about tearing the house down, but with Megan's vision we were able to salvage it into a space out of Remodelista and roughly on budget. A few unique points: (1) I can't stress this enough--hiring Megan is to hire an advocate who will act in your best interest and is trustworthy; (2) Megan is particularly talented in executing modern spaces while being cost conscious / creative; (3) Megan will go above and beyond to make sure your project is a success (late nights, battling with contractors, etc). In my case in particular, I was remote and Megan handled on matters on site in an professional, and indeed, thoughtful way.

Megan is a dream! We used Dichotomy to help us furnish our new weekend home in Woodstock. The house had a contemporary farm house vibe and I wanted it to feel more like a cabin. Megan walked in and immediately had about a hundred ideas to do that. We replaced most of the lighting and did some minor renovation in the kitchen (new countertops, a built-in wine fridge-critical!, and painted the cabinets. Megan had wonderfully creative ideas about furniture, textiles and paint that I would probably not have considered on my own. The result is a rustic sanctuary from our busy NYC lives. I could spend hours just sitting here, admiring her work. Megan and her colleagues are complete pros. We came up some weekends while the construction was still in progress and the guys were very careful about leaving everything spotless so we could enjoy the place even before it was finished. Megan and her assistant, Chelsea, are very easy to reach and completed tasks in record time. Frankly, I wonder when Megan sleeps. I know she had other, much bigger projects going on while she was working on our place but I always felt like her most important client. She's simply the best. We will definitely use Dichotomy again when we renovate the bathrooms next year. I can offer an unreserved recommendation for Megan and her team. Megan Oldenburger has all the qualities of a designer and project manager that a client could desire. She's creative, insightful, thorough, reliable and incredibly mindful of budget.
