Laura is an amazingly creative individual and an excellent designer of outdoor spaces. She goes beyond decorating property to developing outdoor spaces which are wonderful to live in and to experience. What Laura brings to property development beyond a vast knowledge of plant materials, hardscape possibilities and design skills is an amazing ability to visualize a space in its maturity, its development and growth over time.

After 20 years, our landscaping was looking dated. Family Tree Nursery recommended Laura Stack of CREATIVE OUTDOOR SPACES to provide some inspiration. From our first consultation, we knew Laura’s creativity would bring a fresh and bold look to our yard. Laura’s design expanded the front bed, added a flagstone path, rebuilt the stone walls, and she suggested plant material to accent our redesigned front entry. One of the things we really appreciated about Laura was her recommendation to repurpose some of our current bushes in several newly designed beds in the backyard. Laura addressed drainage issues in the backyard with Missouri River rock beds which melded into the natural lines of the yard. One of our favorite additions were large unique sandstone rocks to create visual interest and focal points in the beds. The beds in the backyard were expanded to complement the newly installed colored stamped concrete patio. Laura brought in new plant materials which added a variety of textures, color, and height. One of Laura’s great suggestions was the addition of a partial fence in the backyard which provides both visual interest and hides firewood and garden supplies. Laura’s design added evergreen trees and bushes which embrace the firepit area and will also hide the back fence when fully grown. Laura asked us to accompany her to select all the plant materials and featured stones fully engaging us in the process. Joel Bockelman’s COMPLETE OUTDOOR EXPRESSIONS, LLC team did an incredible job installing the plant material, building stone walls, placing the flagstone and rocks just the way we wanted them, and grading and sodding. Their patience and attention to detail was phenomenal. Laura's designs always considered the view from 360 degrees. Wherever you look from any angle brings interest and inspiration. We highly appreciate Laura’s creativity, knowledge, problem solving, and transparency of the budget and spend.

Laura helped us transform our backyard and side yards into something much better than just grass! She was knowledgeable and friendly, and we enjoyed working with her. No, I need some patience to let the plants grow!

I hired Laura to landscape my backyard and help curtail the spread of bamboo which had become overgrown and was starting to overtake the backyard. Laura and her team did a fantastic job!!! Laura listened to my requests and came up with some wonderful ideas as shown in the attached pictures. She created a beautiful backyard that I really enjoy and is easy to take care of especially for someone who is not a good gardener. I really appreciated how Laura listened to my requests both in terms of maintenance and cost and came up with ideas to accommodate both aspects but still lead to a beautiful backyard oasis. Laura managed her team and some other external contractors and the results are truly amazing. Joel and his team were also wonderful and very responsive. I love my new backyard and look forward to spending lots of time in it in the years to come.

Yes what a transformation to your backyard!! Two outdoor living spaces for your enjoyment and entertainment! The new patio walls bring dimension and interest to patios and accomodate addtional seating. Your contemporary preferences and desire for simple landscape allowed the hardscape to be the dominate designs elements. The planter walls and serve as the containment for the bamboo. The fence panels provide immediate and permanent screen from your neighbors shed.
Your willingness to repurpose your old patio, we cut in pieces to be used as a pathways to gates and between patios.

After living in our home for 25 years I wanted a fresh set of eyes that could help make an otherwise overwhelming task doable. Just getting started and wanting to do a lot of it ourselves. Laura came in and almost immediately had been able to envision what we could not. Looking forward to using her ideas as a guide for taking our yard from a lived-in look to a very liveable space!

My drive to visit you and your property was a great way to end my week! I enjoyed our discussion of ideas with options as we casted a vision for what could be! I am glad that you both prioritized and were excited about the side yard terrace and raised gardens with a new fence to keep the dogs at bay as a starting project! Keep me posted as to your pruning and project progress!! I am glad that the field sketch was enough of an outline for you to move forward.

Best DIY help! I had an area prepared for some plantings, but not sure what to put in there. I contacted Laura and she came out and sketched a plan. Not only a plan for that area, but how to incorporate it into the rest of the backyard. We then went to the local nursery and Laura showed me options available for each planting. We then loaded up both of our trucks and Laura came back to my house to help unload and place the the bushes. Three days later, I got all planted. Great help and a fun day!

Our day was well spent with casting long term vision and broadening the scope of your backyard buffer. We were successful in meeting our day's objectives of conceptual design, plant purchase and layout of plants on site, in all the areas that you had prepared!. Congratulations with all your hard work over the following days to get all the plants installed!!

Laura was hired to help us envision long-term plans for our very bare backyard, determine prioritized phases to spread out work over a few years time, and create a long-term budget. After lengthy discussion of our goals and creative vision, we decided to focus the first phase on creating a play area for our young children, a cobble border with boulder outcroppings along the back fence, and a new bed along the west fence. Laura is a dynamic, true visionary landscape designer who collaboratively created a unique nature play and playground area for our family. We showed up with A LOT of creative ideas and goals around the type of play environment we desired, and she helped us prioritize and make it a reality. It has become a place of exploration, discovery, and imagination for not only our children, but all the kids on the street...exactly what we had hoped for and envisioned for our backyard. The space is truly unique. Laura made every design choice with intention and love for our family. We feel very grateful to have found a landscape designer who thought outside the box to make our collaborative vision come to life. Unfortunately, due to budget, we were unable to fully complete phase one this summer. But, we look forward to adding more plantings with Laura's expertise and guidance in the future. And then on to phase two!

Creative outdoor play was our overall design objective!! Glad that we were able to incorporate the fun natural play elements with boulders, river rocks, tree stumps, and dirt/sand piles, along with the traditional play set equipment. Your decision to use the rubber mulch was a fun element to provided added interest and color to your landscape. The pictures you send me bring me great joy to see the space filled and active with your kids and the neighbors. We appreciated your grace in navigating difficult circumstances in the midst of your project.
And we now celebrate the succuss of meeting our goal of creating an active outdoor play environment for you and your family and friends!!

Laura provided great vision for our 3 acre property. Laura carefully listened to the ideas we had and made them come to life. She was responsive and created good drawings to communicate her vision for how to integrate and enhance existing landscape into design. As an engineer, I appreciated Laura's attention to detail, schedule and cost control. Laura also works with excellent subcontractors. We were very pleased with Complete Outdoor Expression. Everyone who comes to our house as one question; who did your landscaping? We are very pleased with the services of Laura Stack and highly recommend her for landscape design.

Thank you for the opportunity to bring function and beauty to your property! Your initial design objective was to connect your lower patio to the upper portion of your backyard. What emerged was a new and expanded patio, with open lawn view of a new berm planting bed, and garden path access to your new amazing raised planter bed gardens. Now your passion to grow vegetables will continue with elevated access to plant and harvest! Thank you for trusting me with the layout and scale of your front yard street landscape to highlight your stone address monument and along with your renovated eagle sculptures!

We were thrilled with how Laura, and her team at Creative Outdoor Spaces, designed and implemented a plan for our large back yard space. It was beautifully landscaped with our needs in mind. It is the gardens of my dreams. Laura recognized my need for year round color, texture and interest in landscaping and designed a space which flows visually into other areas, creating a beautiful “whole” environment. We appreciated how she stayed within budget and utilized existing plants in the design. We have enjoyed the area so much, wildlife abounds, birds have found a sanctuary in abundant evergreens! It is nice to be able to share the view with friends. On a side note, it has held up well, despite our active dog. The landscaping looks fabulous and has been easy to maintain. Thank you, Laura! We highly recommend Creative Spaces
