We are a handmade tile showroom/studio located in the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District. We make both original and one-of-a-kind tile for your kitchen, bathroom, floor, or fireplace. Clay Squared to Infinity is known for its beautiful, glazed terracotta tiles, available in thirty delicious colors. As a showroom we represent seven American historic tile lines from the Victorian, Arts & Crafts and Mid-century periods from the 1890s to 1950s.
We sell and ship our tiles both locally and nationally. Visit our showroom or order a free catalog of our work. Sample packs are also available for purchase.
Our tiles are made right on site so you can tour our studio, touch finished and in-process tiles, and ask questions of our friendly staff. We are renowned for our top-notch service, assisting you as you plan and design, from start to finish. One of the most frequent comments we hear from our clients is that our tiles look original to the home.
In our showroom we also represent seven historically accurate tile companies to help you match the original look of your period home. Choose from unglazed porcelain hexagon floor tiles, classic pink, green and yellow Mid-Century tiles to recreate the look you love. Whether you own a Victorian, Arts & Crafts, Bungalow, Tudor, or Mid-century period home, we are your one stop shop for authentic tile reproductions from the 1890s to 1950s.

Clay Squared was amazing to work with! We wanted to redo the old, stained, crumbling brick fireplace face in out 1908 home. The mantle was in good condition but we wanted to use tile in in a period-appropriate color to update the look. Clay Squared has period-appropriate collections to help you narrow down your color choices, and several sample fireplace layouts for inspiration. The tile color we chose was Jade Moss. We wanted to coordinate with some elongated hexagon-shaped window panes that flank the fireplace so we wanted to work the elongated hex tiles into the design. Louise designed a beautiful tile layout and suggested several area installers. We went with Hohn & Hohn and they did an amazing job on the installation. From start to finish, this was a project we were pleased with and our fireplace is now the focal point of our living room. See the before and after photos below.

We absolutely love our kitchen backsplash tile from Clay Squared. They are truly artists and create beautiful, one of a kind, handcrafted tiles. Josh and his staff were incredibly helpful, and spent time with us in their studio showing us options and making suggestions. We are already dreaming up our next project to showcase their artistry!

Though we no longer live in Minneapolis, we went to Clay Squared to find the handmade tiles we used for our hearth, knowing it is the centerpiece of the home and important to find just the right feel for the job. What sold us, apart from their caring and attentive customer service, was the unique glazes that they offer, making each tile unique and a piece of art just on its own.

We are very happy with the beautiful field tiles from Clay Squared. The colors are vibrant so it was hard to choose just one, we ended up using 3 of them! Design and Customer service was excellent too. Thanks to Louise in the design group for coming up with our dream fireplace for our new arts and crafts home.

I have done several large tile projects in my home with the help of a team of the most skillful installers in the business. We all agree that ClaySquared is one of the most unique and beautiful products we've seen. I took my idea to their designer and she patiently worked with me, and educated me, to bring to life such delightful project that perfectly projects my joyful aesthetic and still maintains dignity and functionality. This handmade tile has a life and feel to it that no mass produced product can ever pretend to. This was probably the best experience in home renovation I've had yet. Don't settle for mediocrity-color your world with tile from ClaySquared!

Terrible quality of finished product. These tiles are sloppy and are all over the place dimensionally. We ordered over $2,000 worth of 2X2 tiles and installing them was tedious. Instead of squares, we got a fair share of rhombus tiles. Examining their product, I can see that the glaze slops over the sides and makes the final dimensions a wide range of sizes. Because this shop does not offer to put these on a web, the installation process was tedious. I estimate it took me about 50% longer to install than other backsplash, and this is even with the use of a laser level. We communicated with the owner, Josh, and he responded by cancelling the remainder of our order. While he did refund all that we had paid him, including installed tiles, he left us high and dry regarding the remaining wall. It was a childish response on his part to honest feedback to the difficulties his method of production provides for clients. We had not requested any compensation for our difficulties. We only ask that the next batch better reflect the dimensions. Luckily, we found a beautiful tile with a competitor. Our new tiles came on a web, dimensioned perfectly (although still hand cut and hand glazed), and highlighting the stained glass window we have in the room. Now we have an amazing accent wall and we are thrilled! I'm just disappointed we started with Clay Squared to Infinity.

We couldn't be more pleased with the excellent customer service and quality of tiles from Clay Squared to Infinity on our fireplace remodel. We went with the Jade Moss subway style tiles and the Medieval Floral tiles as an accent. The end result looks original to the turn of the century fireplace we were refurbishing in our home. Even our tile installer mentioned what a treat it was for him to work with the handmade tiles from Clay Squared! Thank You!

I am an architect and we had replaced our front door and sidelites, and were putting in tile where the sidelites were. I was looking for someone to do custom tile in colors that are not very typical, not the standard grays, beiges, etc. that are out there now. I also needed it to be tile that could be installed outdoors. Clay Squared was extremely helpful and easy to work with. I got samples from them, emailed with Josh about colors, got some more samples, did my layout, ordered the tile and they finished and shipped it early, which was great since it was exterior tile and I was worried about the temperature for installation.

Clay Squared created some beautiful tile for our kitchen backsplash. I love that it gives a splash of color but is still not too busy. The tile was made and delivered in the time stated. It came well packaged, which was great, since the remodel took longer than expected. I absolutely love it and am so happy I chose them.

When my wife and I decided to refinish the fireplace in our Craftsman style living room, our search for tile suppliers quickly took us to the completed projects photos at the Clay Squared to Infinity website. We were immediately in love with what we saw and knew this was where we could get the custom tiles and design expertise we needed. Josh and Louise at Clay Squared provided the knowledgeable guidance, thoughtful suggestions and patience we needed to lead us from idea to design to execution.
We also knew that we wanted some custom art tile elements, and were inspired by a set of custom-painted grapevines Josh had created for another client. Josh walked us through the artistic process of creating grapevine tiles that matched our fireplace's style and color scheme, and the results are spectacular.
The final resulting fireplace is a work of beauty and a perfect match for our home's decor. It is stunning at first sight yet a design we know we will be happy to live with for many years to come. We are extremely satisfied.

The handmade tiles in our new bathroom remodel are totally mesmerizing. The "cosmic rain" tiles in the shower have such beautiful variation that the space feels like you are inside of a piece of art. The combination of colors and texture which were designed by the team at Clay Squared has a modern look that real feels like it fits my house. The customer service was great with updates all along the process.

Josh at ClaySquared answered a million questions cheerfully, while I honed in on my final design for our kitchen backsplash. He and his staff then helped me work out what was needed. We did a double layer of two different kinds of Mississippi border. The tiles came quickly, and are so gorgeous! I looked at a lot of different tile vendors before choosing ClaySquared and could not be happier with the results. Any imperfections in the project are mine - the tiles were perfect :)

We wanted to install tile that would complement our California Craftsman home, which was built in 1907-1908. We are so happy that we went with a custom design, using the beautiful handmade tiles from Clay Squared to Infinity. Louise was very helpful in getting us the exact size and color tile that we needed for the centerpiece of our design, and it came out beautifully. Resources provided for planning and installation were very useful. Everything shipped out to California well packaged, arriving in pristine condition. We added this tile as a backsplash above our stove and in our coffee prep area underneath the microwave. We love looking at it when we cook and make coffee, and it adds an artistic, human touch to our new kitchen that is very fitting with the Arts & Crafts movement and style of the home. The variety of tiles available makes Clay Squared to Infinity a great choice for a home of any age.

Though we had dabbled with design on our house projects, we wanted this big remodel to reflect an enduring yet personal style. These beautiful hand made tiles from Clay Squared to Infinity made this great fireplace surround.
The tiles have glaze variations that enhance the look. Many size and shape options are available. I have done many tile installations over the years, and this is a favorite.

We were looking for Arts and Crafts tiles for our new construction home fireplace backsplash. Clay Squared had exactly what we were looking for at a very good price. We LOVE our tile from Clay Squared. We looked everywhere and when we finally found them, we had so many wonderful choices of unique colors and beautiful handmade tiles.
The tile guy loved installing our backsplash, instead of the boring old white subway tile that he usually deals with.

We hired Clay Squared to Infinity to produce the tiles for our fireplace. We told them what we wanted, they helped us to design it and then produced a plan for us to follow for the installation. The tile is beautiful and they were wonderful to work with.
This project was very special to us and the focal point of our home and we wanted only the best. We got it with Clay Squared to Infinity!

I had great service with Clay Squared. I was able to get the 1950's color of tile that I wanted; and despite the first batch of tile being defective, Clay Squared was able to quickly resolve the issue and have shipped to me a replacement order. When I walked in to the studio, I knew I had found a gem. I checked out some tile boards, but I had already seen what I wanted, but I did not want to be too impulsive. So a few weeks later, I returned the tile boards and ordered the North Shore tiles for my kitchen backsplash, which was what I knew I was going to get!! Josh was so supportive, and really happy to see that my cabinets were yellow, he obviously loves color and was asking immediately when I picked up the tiles to bring him photos when the project was completed. I love this combination of colors, and the beauty I have in my kitchen. Great place, great art, great experience.

We have used Clay Squared tiles to redo two fireplaces in two homes. The first was a 1930 Tudor bungalow, and we were told when we sold the house that the fireplace was a big draw. The gorgeous tile was very true to the house’s period in shape and craftsmanship, but with a fun, little twist in that the color (blue with copper).
We’ve just done another fireplace in a new build home (designed to look old) and it, too, gets attention and comments from everyone who sees it.
Clay Squared has provided us with exquisite materials and excellent customer service both times we’ve worked with them.

From start to finish it was wonderful working with Clay Squared to Infinity on our backsplash. I had searched everywhere and couldn't find just the right "match" for our granite countertop...but then stumbled upon C. S. and Josh in NE Mpls. The small, friendly showroom is accessible...not at all overwhelming. And Josh is the best...professional and helpful. He helped us narrow down color and accent choices; sat down with me to figure out layout, etc. The project was completed in a very timely manner....ready for install on the date we needed it. All in all, it was a great experience. The backsplash is one of a kind, unique, and artistic... we get lots of compliments!! Best of all - Clay Squared is a local artisan and affordable. I highly recommend Josh and company!

Love these hand-made tiles. On time, on budget and exceeded my expectations. My fireplace went from 1970's blah brick to timeless arts & craft tile. Even though I had a strong idea of what I wanted, working with Josh improved the results. His suggestions made a big impact!

We contacted Clay Squared on the recommendation of several friends who had worked with them in the past to create custom tiles. When visiting their studio, we knew they were a good fit for the work we wanted done. We were gutting and renovating our kitchen. When walking into our condo, one of the first things people see is the sink area of our kitchen. We wanted to have a custom tile piece that would catch the eyes when people walked in. Clay Squared did a great job of listening to what we wanted and interpreting it into something we love! We pointed out elements of tiles they had created in the past, colors that would be in our kitchen, and gave them very general suggestions. We wanted an organic piece with elements of relief. Other than that, we were not specific. We wanted them to create something without our saying too much and without our micromanaging the creative process. The first time we saw the design was when we came to pick up the finished tiles. The tile artwork they created is the highlight of our kitchen. The only down side- we do not have a need for any more tile projects to work with Clay Squared.

We used Clay Squared tiles for a kitchen back splash in our 1935 craftsman style bungalow. The tiles were made to order and arrived faster than I anticipated. They look great and the variations of the handmade tiles add a lot to the kitchen. We are very happy that we decided to go with the Clay Squared.

The tile job for my basement bathroom was not one that falls within the norm these days, as I wanted to replicate a 1930s look. My contractor balked at first, but quickly realized it wouldn't be that hard to figure out thanks to the guidebook Clay Squared has which lays out each of the different pieces of tile and where they fit in a scenario like this. Josh was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions very patiently. I am thrilled with the results and feel that the shading in the Kiwi Green tiles looks historically accurate. Even my contractor and tile installer, who were both skeptical of my plans to use this vintage-style tile in the beginning, ended up loving the results, surprising themselves.

I would highly recommend working with Josh at Clay Squared. When I walk into our new kitchen months after its completion the first thing that catches my eye is the tiles, each one slightly different from the other (the tiles are handmade) creating a very unique look. Ordering tile is easy, pricing is clear, and Josh bought back the extra tiles we didnt use. The cost is more than you would pay in a big box chain store but I feel it was very much worth it.

I wish I could give more than five stars! I had a *great* experience working with ClaySquared. Josh Blanc at ClaySquared worked with us on our tile backsplash in a partial kitchen remodel last year. The customer service at ClaySquared is excellent! Josh was unfailingly helpful, the sample service was great, and the delivery was next-to-instantaneous. And the tiles themselves are wonderful. High quality with an alluring color range and wonderful artisanal "vibe." We wanted to give our somewhat plain, modern kitchen a more handcrafted and unique atmosphere. I am so happy we went with ClaySquared. I look forward to working with them on future projects. They are truly a gem!

Josh from Clay Squared created the handmade tile for our fireplace project, working with our designer and tile setter to create a beautiful focal point for our living room. Our fireplace was transformed from stark white brick to a lovely, colorful Arts and Crafts design which takes inspiration from details in our nearby stained glass windows. Josh is very experienced and great to work with. He had previously made the tile for a backsplash behind our kitchen stove which we also love. We were extremely pleased with his work on both projects.

We have had the pleasure of working with Josh Blanc and the staff at Clay Squared to Infinity on several projects, including a large kitchen backsplash and a bathroom remodel. I can't recommend both the amazing tile and the warm, helpful staff highly enough. Both projects receive rave reviews from anyone coming to our home. The quality, color and design of the tiles is exceptional. Josh worked with us as we designed the projects ourselves with his patient (!) support, making us feel like co-creators of what we consider to be art pieces.

We first saw Josh's work while attending Art-a-Whirl.
We particularly liked his celestial tiles and had been searching for something for above a fireplace.
We visited his shop with the intent of purchasing tiles, but quickly decided to have a custom set done to our particulars. He was very quick to guide us through the process and created 15 or so tiles for us to choose the 9 we needed for our grouping.
We chose 9 and are so thrilled with how they look in our space - we could not be happier with the process and product!

I ordered tile for my kitchen backsplash and fire place hearths from Clay Squared to Infinity. The Jade Moss tile that I selected was perfect for my classic craftsman themed kitchen in my 1920's craftsman home. The Avocado and Ginger Snap tiles worked perfectly for the two different fireplaces in the house. The handmade nature of the tile offers the classic appeal I was looking for. The order was processed quickly and efficiently. They fulfilled my special request for color variations within the Jade Moss tile. The staff at Clay Squared to Infinity called to make sure my order was correct, and made sure I did not miss anything. I am very happy with the quality of tile and the service provide. Incredible one of a kind art... True craftsmanship in Clay squared and just a pleasure to deal with. We had a little project in our 1870 Mississippi home we are restoring. We wanted a little something different for one of the fireplaces and tried our hand at a little funkiness while maintaining integrity of quality. Thanks so much!

I have worked with Clay Squared to Infinity on several projects this year and have found them to be reliable, professional and have a superior product than others on the market.
Clay Squared to Infinity was there when I needed to reorder wall outlet covers. I called and asked if I could get the correct style sent as soon as possible. Josh assured me that he would get then to me the next day; it was a relief knowing that this would not hold up the completion of my project. The product arrived on time as promised and I will continue to use Clay Squared to Infinity in the future.

The staff and Clay Squared was patient, provided rapid service, were always cordial, and helpful. The product (tiles) is exquisite, and the price was extremely reasonable for this type of tile. We picked out a set of Josh's comic tiles for a wall display in our living room. We needed a few more so we commissioned him to create the remaining. Some that we commissioned were unique so we had to explain what we wanted. Josh did an amazing job of creating what we asked for. The outcome is a feature in our living room these attracts lots of compliments.

Bought pesto and jade moss field tiles, plus two floral design accent tiles, to re-tile a fireplace facade in an old victorian style house. Clay Squared had exactly what we wanted, and the result looks fantastic. Josh Blanc and other staff were very helpful. The tiles arrived ahead of schedule with no damage.

Josh and ClaySquared are top notch. Not only do they produce a one of a kind key border tile that you really cannot find anywhere else (trust me I looked) but also their personal service is outstanding. I had several important layout issues that Josh took the time to go over with me before we finalized the order and when I needed something last minute he was also there in a pinch to meet my demands.

I used Clay Squared in Minneapolis to order the custom tile used to restore a 1949 vintage pink mosaic shower stall floor to match the original (long obsolete) tile still present in the rest of the bathroom. Josh Blanc and his staff were very attentive and helpful in the entire process from selecting the individual tile piece colors (3 different shades of pink) to keeping me informed on the progress and schedule of the custom tile manufacturer. I was very pleased with their service and would certainly buy again from them if the need arises.

We purchased tile from Clay Squared to Infinity for our backsplash as part of a complete kitchen remodel. We ordered samples first to help us decide on the colors. I corresponded with Josh a few times via e-mail with some questions I had about the layout. He responded promptly and was helpful. Even though they are quite a distance away, we felt confident ordering from them due to all the info on their website and the samples we received. And we thought the Comic Spot tiles were so unique and cool!
We placed the order and received the tiles about 4 weeks later. They were very well packaged and we were delighted with how beautiful they were. I discovered I had not ordered enough of the trim and there was one small mixup on our order. I contacted Josh and he got the additional tiles out to us in less than a week. Our local tile guy installed them according to our plans and did a fabulous job. The tiles go really well with our soapstone counters and copper sink and switch plates.
We love our kitchen and everyone compliments us on it. If you are looking for unique tiles for a one-of-a-kind project, we highly recommend Clay Squared to Infinity.

We purchased handmade tile from Clay Squared for a backsplash in the tiny kitchen of our 1914 bungalow. Josh encouraged us to borrow tile, play with tile, and discover a pattern and colors that we would love. We were surprised that we ended up with something completely different than what we thought going into it. We ordered tiles - they came right on schedule. Josh recommended a number of tilers - Bread & Roses installed the tile. We also bought a couple of dozen small art tiles (Stone Hollow, I think), which were available at Clay Squared - they highlight our interest in gardening, beekeeping and the outdoors. The tiles completed our kitchen - but they look like they've been there all along. Fabulous!

We have a house from the 1930s. The bathroom had lilac tile that was not available at any tile shop I went to (even those who claimed to have tile from the period. )They all told me I couldn't find it. Then I discovered Clay Squared. I found what was an extremely close color. We had had to tear many tiles out of the shower stall to replace pipes and not all of the tile could be saved. I ordered replacement tiles from Clay Squared. They sent me a sample, responded to emails with questions and completed the job within the time period they promised. The tile was perfect, the service excellent. I am very pleased with the product.

We are very happy with the tile from Clay Squared for our bathroom remodel. Our home was built in 1893 and we wanted tile that would fit the era with a slight midcentury twist. Clay Squared had exactly the color of vintage jade green subway tile and hex flooring we were looking for. They worked with our budget and kept us updated while the order was being completed. It turned out great and I would definitely recommend them!

I needed to redo part of my 1950s pink and peach bathroom while preserving as much of the original as possible. Clay Squared offered a peach reproduction tile that complimented the original tile (although not an exact match). It was availble in a variety of sizes and shapes. I used it for the stall shower and it looks splendid. Tile arrived in perfect condition. I would happily recommend retro renovators to check out Clay Squsred.

We were having trouble finding the right tile for the back splash in our kitchen remodel. We were trying to do an up-to-date kitchen with a touch of the old Craftsman look. We checked out all the local tile stores in our area but had no luck. Next, we moved our search to online sites. We found several companies that had beautiful tile but the prices were out of sight.
We were excited and hopeful when we came across Clay Squared To Infinity. Their prices were within our budget and the photos on their site appeared to show tiles that would help to create the look that we were after. After ordering samples, we picked out tiles that fit perfect into our design. They arrived in a very timely manor,. The tiles were packaged extremely well and arrived in perfect condition. I have to say the tiles were the perfect detail that made a great kitchen just perfect!

I had a wonderful experience with Clay Squared. I ordered sample tiles several times, and Josh always sent them out promptly. When the actual boxes of tiles arrived, they were securely packaged without a single breakage or damage.
I had originally looked at Motawi art tiles for our kitchen backsplash, but they are way out of our price range. These tiles were just as beautiful and far more affordable. I hope to do our fireplace with tiles in the Arts and Crafts style, and will definitely be coming back to this company. Its craftsmanship and service are first-rate.

We recently remodeled our kitchen and purchased our tile from Josh Blanc @ Clay Squared to Infinity. We were interested in a unique design that we could create and didn't want a 'cookie cutter look' or tile from the big box stores. Josh Blanc at Clay Squared really knows his way around tile. He is a handmade tile maker himself, as well as a business owner and president of the Handmade Tile Association. When my client was looking for field tiles to go with my handmade accent tiles for his fireplace, I sent him to Josh. Josh
made beautiful field tiles that worked perfectly with my accent tiles. The fireplace turned out so much better than I had imagined! My client was happy, and so was I! I would certainly recommend Clay Squared to Infinity, again and again, because of their excellent work.

Josh Blanc at Claysquared in Northeast Minneapolis is an exceptional and creative tile maker. He made the tiles for a backsplash in my renovated 1912 Craftsman in St.Paul. It is the highlight of the renovation but would have been equally stunning in a modern or Victorian house. He was extremely friendly to work with and prices were entirely fair given the quality of the workmanship and design. Note that he does not install but was able to refer me to several qualified installers familiar with his work.

I fortuitously discovered the website for Clay Squared to Infinity last year, when we began a complete kitchen renovation. I knew I wanted handmade terra cotta tiles and their offerings of glazes was what caught my eye. We sampled many gorgeous samples, and Josh was always helpful via email and calls. I was in search of just the "right" green -- and found it here. We chose a mixture of Avocado and Pesto field tiles and I couldn't be happier. Now to decide on the wall color!
Thank you, Josh -- you made the experience simple and enjoyable, 5-stars! If we ever make it out to Minneapolis -- we're on the East Coast -- I will be sure to make my pilgrimage to your shop.

Clay Squared made some custom logo tiles and a mosaic piece for my office floor. Everyone who walks in the door falls in love with our floor. I'm always quick to refer them to Clay Squared.
In addition, I've had the need to consult with Josh on small home projects as well as large commercial projects. His advice has always been spot on, and he's helped advise us on creative ways to keep the projects within our budget.

My husband and I wanted a fabulous tiled floor in the bathroom we were remodeling - but on a very limited budget. Josh Blanc of Clay Squared to Infinity met with us and offered suggestions about how we could achieve the look we wanted by mixing inexpensive manufactured porcelain tiles with hand-crafted tiles from Clay Squared.
We found tiles we liked at a builder's surplus warehouse, and Josh cut one-inch square accent tiles for us, matching the thickness of the porcelain tiles. We opted to have them glazed in nearly all of Clay Squared's signature colors. We used a row of the colored accent tiles in between each of the large porcelain tiles, and did a wide grout line to keep the small colored tiles visible.
Through the process, Josh was unfailingly friendly and helpful. We had ideas about what we wanted, and he was tactful in guiding us away from the things we wanted that would not have worked for us, and toward what did work. He created the individual tiles especially for us, and finished them well ahead of our deadlines. We would not hesitate to work with him again, or to recommend him to anyone else.

After completely gutting and remodeling the kitchen in our 1932 bungalow, we wanted a handmade tile kitchen back splash to compliment the tile in the bathroom we loved. We also wanted to design and install it ourselves. I had looked in tile shops all over the Twin Cities and couldn't find what I wanted until I saw one of Clay Squared's tile sample boards in a kitchen remodeling store. I remembered that we had some tiles colored to match our bathroom to replace cracked ones several years earlier by Josh, so I went to his newer location and fell in love with the ideas I gathered there. Josh helped me immensely by welcoming me to the shop to play with tiles, look at the design samples, bring one home to work off of, and he answered many, many questions that came up for me. He also made suggestions on details about products for us to use in our DIY project and other helpful suggestions to help make it a success. It turned out beautifully and we are very proud of the result. Josh has used photos of our new kitchen for his own marketing. We have further plans for other tile projects in our house in the years to come.

I purchased an order of custom made tiles for a fireplace surround in a client's home. The handmade tiles were absolutely beautiful. Neither the homeowner nor I could be happier. After receiving the tiles, but prior to installing them, I realized that I had erred and under-ordered. Josh was extremely responsive and was able to make another handful of tiles to complete my order and keep me moving without losing much time.

Josh Blanc as owner has shown integrity in all facets of the business and currently serves as President of the Handmade Tile Association. He is always striving to educate clients concerning handmade tile. For the latest project I have worked with him, I needed some tiles made with exact measurements besides the basic field tiles. He made the tiles and they all fit without cutting - it was great. It is wonderful to have a collaboration between tile maker & installer to produce a fantastic installation.
