Chango

We followed Chango & Co on Houzz, Pinterest and other media outlets for years. We were impressed by the organization, consistent aesthetic, as well as how much fun it looked like they had working with their clients (great reviews like this). So expectations were quite high. When we went into contract with our home, the pandemic had just hit in April 2020. We were nervous about a lot of things, but working with Chango was not one of them. From the start of the relationship they were communicative (this was right as everybody was getting used to working from home) and extremely professional. They were very transparent about how they operated (their process), and who would be working with us and what timelines would look like. Keep in mind this is just as the pandemic started and it was chaotic. They stuck to everything. Everything. It was truly remarkable. In terms of their approach it was thoughtful, constructive and had options for us. We appreciated the team's opinion (we worked with Bonnie and Susana mainly), and were encouraged by them to add our input. The initial stages revolved around a fun process of selection of styles and materials, and this was done in a terrific format that they had done and replicated many times before. We found this allowed us to make independent choices (privately) while giving them great insight into what we wanted in our home. They listened, and arrived with options for everything (for each room, and for every piece). All of the decisions were made on a single day with them! This day took tons of preparation from the Chango team in order to make it productive for everybody. This was all done over zoom and in a very efficient manner. Keep in mind this was before Zoom was widely used. They mentioned it is typically done in person. The team was flexible and worked very well together. We got consistent updates in the same manner they promised at the outset, and the project has been an overwhelming success for our family (we have 3 young children). As we emailed them recently, “not a day has gone by where we forget how great of an experience that was.” Not only was it a terrific customer experience, it has literally been the gift that keeps on giving as we are excited every day to come home to their work. We have referred them to friends and cannot wait to work with them again!

Working with Susana, Josh and the rest of the team at Chango & Co. has been a truly exceptional experience across the board. My wife and I have been in awe of every project they work on from afar ever since we first came across them several years ago, and we always knew that when we eventually purchased our next property that they would be our first call. After canvassing the market looking for a house in the Hamptons over a several month period, we came across a property that seemed like it could be a good fit based on our criteria, but it was mid-construction and the existing design plans in place were inconsistent with our style and desired aesthetic in a number of places. We reached out to the Chango team and walked them through the situation and our "dream home wishlist" and were blown away by the depth of their perspective and the guidance they were so willing to provide right off the bat, prior to having any sort of formal engagement in place. We can say without any hesitation that our desire to move on the property was totally contingent upon getting to work with the Chango team, as we knew they would be able to take the existing plans and transform the existing spec into exactly what we were looking for on every level. The project was completed in mid 2021 after the Chango team led everything from architectural advisement to interior/exterior design and planning to sourcing and installation of every last detail of the property. Anyone who has gone through the process of new construction knows how overwhelming it can be at times, and managing the various constituents involved can be daunting and exhausting, especially when communication isn't seamless and issues arise along the way. With Chango managing the project on our behalf, the process was incredibly smooth, the decisions we were asked to make were the "fun ones" and the guidance and unwavering support we received each and every day is authentically hard to put into words because it meant so much to us and delivered so much value to the project. Getting the chance to work with experts - whatever it is that you are doing - is a great experience. Getting input, advice and direction from a team that has sincere passion for their craft and a long-tenured track record of high quality work is very comforting, and for us provided immediate confidence and conviction that the team had our back and was driving every element of the project forward with our best interests in mind. For us, that was tremendously important and after interacting with several of the top firms in the NYC area over the last several years, we can say with certainty that Chango stands above the rest, in a league of their own. The people at Chango & Co. are incredible; authentically amazing human beings. The culture they all embody is refreshing and endearing, as they approach every conversation and interaction with integrity, compassion and a genuine desire to help. We're humbled to call them friends!

We originally planned on utilizing Chango & Co. for the interior design of our newly constructed home. However, Susana and her team’s gifted creative abilities showed early on at our meetings and we wanted them to have further influence over the construction. The project scope then expanded to include interior architecture and construction advisement. We were beyond happy with the results and the design and custom furnishing of our new home exceeded our expectations. My wife and I were expecting our third child during the time of construction and we really needed to entrust a design team with full autonomy to make the important decisions so we could focus on our growing family. Chango nailed it and through a few efficient meetings and design presentations we were able to tackle the full design aesthetic of the entire home. Each room was carefully curated with the feelings/emotions we wanted to capture and the bedrooms reflected each of our family member’s individual personalities (you can see it in our kids’ smiles each morning). We could not have finished off our dream home without Chango and are grateful to have partnered with them on our project. Susana and team have our highest recommendations.

I walk into my home and my stress level instantly falls. Susana and her team created a space that is warm, welcoming, calming and (bonus!) extremely kid-friendly. They proved that you can have small children and still have nice things (with a few tricks up their sleeve to ensure that the design holds up against dirty feet and sticky fingers). They were wonderful to work with — even though we had to do it all virtually. I’m so grateful to the Chango & Co. team for laying such a beautiful foundation that we will build memories on, for years and years to come.

When we found the perfect house for family in The Hamptons after years of searching, we knew exactly who we wanted to decorate it to make it a home, Chango & Co. We were thrilled when they replied to our request and agreed to take on the top to bottom project under a tight timeline in our budget. And even more thrilled and impressed when they exceeded expectations, within budget, within the timeline, in the middle of a pandemic. With so many options out there, we wouldn't have even known where to start furnishing a house, but Chango takes the work out of it and leaves you with the fun part! They take your ideas and inspiration photos and present you with a beautiful, perfectly curated set of options for each aspect of the home. Chango's confidence and organization will make you feel at ease through the process. While I would have trusted Susana and her team to just work their magic without our input, getting to choose from their carefully thought-out suggestions makes the house really feel like us! Walking into our home everyday just makes us feel so fortunate, and when we are away for a day or two, we miss it! It is comfortable and happy and exactly what we wanted. While the end result of our home would have impressed us regardless, the fact that they did most of the work during the March and April quarantine was remarkable. They recognized our new urgency to be in a safe, happy home and completed the project on time. For that, we will be forever grateful!

From start to finish, Chango exceeded our expectations in every way! Susana, Bonnie and the rest of the team made the project enjoyable and FUN. We purchased an old home and they immediately caught on to the overall feeling we were hoping to create with very minimal input from us. We are a busy family - 4 children under 4 years old, two of whom are twins born in the height of the pandemic and we both work full time. We had little time to devote to our project and Chango made it seamless. The design meeting was organized and efficient, having ~5 choices per item allowing us to give as little or as much input as we wanted. They understand what is important to young families and make suggestions of things we would never have thought of. Six months later, we still walk through our house in awe of Chango’s talent. We truly thank Chango for turning our house into our dream home!

After spending a year working with Chango & Co to build and furnish our home, we couldn’t be more excited about the finished product. There are countless decisions to make through the process, and having Susana and her team with their years of experience and artistic vision to guide us through the project was invaluable. They did a remarkable job of taking Chango’s trademark design aesthetic, which we love, and intertwining it with elements of our personal tastes to create an end product that is better than we could have ever imagined. The enjoyment we’ve had living in our home these first few months has not been fleeting and we look forward to the years ahead living here.

When we think of chango, some words that come to mind include; thoughtful, attentive, efficient, playful, collaborative, creative, inventive. They are extremely organized and just sooo good at what they do, while having so much fun! When we purchased our home out east, we knew we wanted to soften the space to create a relaxing beach vibe which one could enjoy all year round. We of course had no idea where to begin... Outfitting a house in its entirety from a remote location can be stressful and time consuming. The team handled every bump in the road and made the process both easy and fun! The installation, top on the list for most exciting days yet! Chango continually listened to our needs and entertained our hesitancy (even when they knew they were right on point). The convinced us to hang a canoe in our house! Every decision was perfectly executed. We feel extremely grateful for their work and the joy that our home has brought us this past summer. They have provided us with an oasis, an escape out of the city to unwind and enjoy the company of our family and friends. We look forward to spending many summers, holidays, and weekends in our hamptons getaway.

Working with Chango & Co was a truly delightful experience. While we had high expectations for the house (based on their portfolio of work), we were still astounded by the results. Months later we still can't believe the transformation! How lucky we were to have the opportunity to work with such talented designers! What I didn't expect, however, was how much I would enjoy the experience of working with Chango; they made an overwhelming process easy and fun! They (somehow) immediately sensed our style and what we were looking for. Despite having to make hundreds of choices, they made the design meeting as easy as possible (and how was every option so beautiful?). And visiting our house after installation felt like a dream. I'm so grateful that we had the opportunity to work with this team. I could not recommend Chango enough!!

It's basically impossible to describe the magic of Chango & Co in a simple online review. We still gasp when we walk into our home several months later, and I will forever be grateful to Susana and her team for delivering a space that our family loves day in and day out. This was our first time using a designer and the Chango team was so helpful and gracious as we learned the ropes of what goes on during a large(ish) design project. We hired Chango to help make our large, lofty, and somewhat industrial loft turn into a family-friendly, cozy home. We were originally focused primarily on our kitchen, living space, and bathrooms, but the project evolved (as projects do), and while I was hesitant at the beginning to allow the project to expand, I am SO, SO grateful that we did it because this home makes me so happy and was worth every penny. Susana had so many brilliant ideas on how to soften the space and bring use to the areas in our home where we didn't traditionally hang out. She is a pure genius when it comes to kid spaces, but the more sophisticated areas she designed for us are equally as stunning. She also does an incredible job accessorizing the house with art, books, and decorative objects - and in my opinion, those little details are what truly makes a home shine. Most importantly though, she listened to what we were asking for, understood our style, and delivered the home of our dreams. Thank you, thank you, thank you Chango team!!!

When my wife and I first met with Susana and the Chango team to initiate our project, my wife said she would like our home to feel like Zen oasis, and I said I wanted a farmhouse. At least I thought that was what we were building … hmm. That is a very difficult needle to thread to say the least, but that is exactly what Susana and her team were able to do. We are thrilled with results and recommend the team without reservation. It all started with the creative process where we sat down with the team and talked in more detail about how we would like the home to look and feel. They asked about inspirations, colors and accents as well as practical matters related to function and flow. How did we want to use the home? Would we be entertaining family and friends? Did we want common areas and more private spots? Would it be an all-season home or summers only? After the initial intake Susana and the team went to work creating the vision … which was particularly difficult from my perspective because there was nothing to look at but a hole in the ground. They considered each room independently and then within the broader flow of the home. How do we give each room personality, but not too much personality? Or should we just have fun with particular rooms and not worry about restraint? Restraint will be for someone else. The kids’ rooms are great examples of how the team can create the vision when given full autonomy. It is clear that Susana and the team were meticulous about each and every detail and made each room special, warm and inviting. Once the vision was created we spent an entire day with the team at their office in Brooklyn looking at furniture, rugs, headboards, lights, ottomans, etc. They had each room organized and a couple choices per room that would mess well with the overall vision. I thought we may never finish. But they never tired ... always encouraging and offering guidance and a glass of wine when we were late into the today. I could hardly remember what we selected but they took perfect notes and sent us a follow up folio with each piece and room design. Of course with project such as this, there is always changes and refinements ... we changed our mind on a particular piece or they found a certain wallpaper was not as durable as expected. This part of the process was an easy flow with honest give and take. They always brought the full knowledge of the team to our project. All parties shared ideas, made suggestions, and worked well together as a team. If my wife or I had a question and they did not have the answer (rare), they would were at ease working with vendors and technicians and were always ready to ask tough questions and push back as appropriate. They always had our interest at the forefront of every engagement. And then the big day!! The installation is done; the moving trucks are gone; 18-months of work is behind us; uncountable numbers of emails have been sent and received; dozens of conference calls are over. It all comes down to this ... Susana and the team meet us at the front door; they are calm and confident ... exhausted for sure, but that good tired when you know you’ve nailed it. We are ecstatic!! We walk each room with the team talking about the colors, the pieces, the accents, the personal photos, the framed pictures ... it’s perfect!! We love it!! As I said that day, it was due to their work that this house became our home. And yes, they threaded that needle ... we have a zen farmhouse. First of it’s kind.
