Busted door. Broken bathroom mirror. Painting. Before work started, Michael took his time to explain what should be done but why. He responded to text and messages. Went over costs and material. Having home repair can be like car repair. You feel vulnerable. With this nagging suspicion you’re being ripped off. With Michael I knew I was in good hands. He was honest. His team, professional. Especially Tito! They left our house spotless. Didn’t spill a drop of paint. And didn’t break a six foot mirror. I don’t think there’s any job Michael and Bela Development can’t tackle.

This is the second review we are posting for Bela Development. The first was on Yelp in May of 2018, for our kitchen reconstruction. Based on the stellar job Bela Development did then, we hired them again for a full bathroom renovation and installation of windows. We are once again giving them 5 stars! Our bathroom looks beautiful. Ben and his team gave great design ideas, prepared detailed plans, listened to our wishes at every step of the process. The execution was expertly done by all his workers, who were all amazing and focused on all details to ensure everything came out great. We are especially delighted by the Venetian plaster, expertly applied, which gave our bathroom a modern, sophisticated feel. There were no negative issues in this project. We will hire them again!

About a month and a half ago (July/August 2023) Bela development completed my project to perfection. They were extremely professional, organized and have the best customer service that I have ever experienced when dealing with a contractor. I HIGHLY recommend the the team at Bela Development! When my wife and I decided that we wanted to turn our two car garage in to an ADU, we met and talked with a lot of people but Bela Development was far and beyond the best. Our project managers, Roei and Shay were really great, they were everything you would want in managers when constructing a big project like this, they very thoroughly explained to us every step of the process of getting permits, hiring the right people, drawing a blue print for our dream ADU. They collaborated with us every step of the way, because me and my wife travel so much they were really accommodating and patient, and never lost the enthusiasm for our project. Great at communication as well, they had a prompt and clear answer to any and all of the question we had. The project is ready to go and the Bela team is in place, we’re very excited too, as soon as we get back home from our travels, we can start on our ADU. We chose Bela after reviewing 3 GC's, it was a very easy decision , Ben was extremely transparent and with no any sales maneuvers , we wanted to know exactly how much things going to cost , he broke it down for pre construction (design + materials) and than the actual construction, with budget sheets and construction schedule, the guys were extremely friendly and clean which is very important for me. Working with Ben and his team was a dream. We remodelled our kitchen, primary bathroom, upgraded electrical, replaced old windows, replaced roof, etc, etc, etc. The kitchen remodel included structural changes such as adding a vaulted ceiling, removing a wall and pushing into our garage. Our house was built in the 60s and they discovered multiple issues in the subfloor...but they handled it! Bela Dev team handled everything from plans to permits. They were on schedule and offered budget friendly options where it made sense (do you really need designer windows?) My husband and I often had to take on different moments of the project due to work demands. As a woman I often get the old patronising tone from contractors, but Ben was so kind and patient. I always felt like Ben was on our team by looking out for our best interest with vendors (appliances, tile, etc). We had a group text chain and they were so responsive every step of the way. You get what you pay for, and you will NOT regret choosing Bela Development.

We had been planning for a relatively large project that involved a re-design of the front- and back-yard areas. When we had purchased the home, the home itself had been re-modeled, but the outdoor living space needed an upgrade. We had never completed such a large project and had always been a bit hesitant to get started (hidden costs, day-to-day disruption, horror stories from others of the unexpected). Unfortunately, we had made the mistake of hiring a smaller firm that seemed to be more "cost-efficient" and that backfired. We really struggled to get on the same page as it relates to "vision", project cost and timetable to complete. After going back-and-forth for months and months and months, we decided that the best thing for us was to terminate the engagement and start over (!!). Fortunately, we had seen some of the finished products that Bela Development had completed in our neighborhood and decided to reach out to Ben and team. Coming off a failed attempt at completing our project, we were wary of going down the same inefficient and costly path. From the onset, their team was professional & constructive and never pushed us into a direction that we didn’t feel comfortable – whether that be scope of work, vision, cost, etc. They really spent the time & effort to understand what we were looking for and the whole team was so easy to work with. It was real collaboration as opposed to being left on an island which is what we had experienced and also heard from so many others. We had a great feeling about Ben & team from the onset and they delivered - we will definitely be working with Bela again! Couple of noteworthy items from our engagement: - Bela Development was responsive & engaged from start-to-finish. Each and every member of their team was easily accessible and they made us feel like their “only and most important” client. - The design team did an excellent job of taking high-level suggestions and turning them into real, actionable designs. We wanted good indoor/outdoor flow and balanced between adult entertainment and space for the kids. Very happy with the results and we've been getting so many compliments from friends & family. - Execution team was professional, courteous and diligent. Michael was our project manager and he was two-steps ahead of anything that could potentially come up. They had complete control over a fairly disruptive project and made sure to communicate with us in advance so that we could plan accordingly (two little kids in our family). We also can't say enough about Jose, Julio and the rest of the team. They arrived on-time every day and worked diligently to make sure our project stayed on plan. Every day, the project site was left clean and organized. If we ran into any complications, they communicated quickly and presented solutions that made it easy for relative newbies like us to address. - Most importantly, Bela Development were able to complete on-time and within their original budget.

Bela did our ocean front flat in Marina Del Rey , that has been a very pleasant experience , we decided to do 3d rendering to make sure we are getting exactly what we were looking for our , our kitchen 2 bathrooms floors and paint are beautifully done , the team are super friendly and communication was overall great , highly recommend working with them they are young techie and hungry for happy clients

When we decided to remodel and relocate our master bathroom and closet, we started looking for contractors to handle the build process from start to finish. After consulting with four different companies, we ultimately decided on Bela based on their customer testimonials, beautiful pictures of completed projects, and most importantly the strong impression we got from Ben, the owner. Once we agreed to move forward with Bela, a detailed scope of work was drawn up detailing all of the different phases of the project like architectural plans and permitting, demolition, framing, electrical/plumbing, etc. After coming to an agreement on scope, price, and timeline, we were introduced to Michael our project manager to begin the process. Michael helped us every step of the way, making sure all key subcontractors were scheduled exactly when they needed to be. He and the Bela team also provided us with a detailed sheet of rough and finishing items that we would need to decide on and acquire for the project. This made keeping track items needing to be purchased, project style, and budget really easy and allowed us to always stay two steps ahead of the work. We didn't elect for a designer/decorator for this project, however Bela absolutely has you covered if that's something you'd like for your project. Once our permits and plans were approved and demolition began, we really saw the payoff of going with Bela. Every single one of the tradesmen on their team, from plumbers to framers to electricians to tile experts to painters were some of the most polite, punctual, high quality, and above all clean that I have ever had the pleasure of working with. The site foreman, Tal, worked hand in hand with Michael and ensured that no detail was left out and that every stage was prepped and completed in the best possible order. Our project was completed within our agreed-upon timeframe, had only slight scope of work adjustments due to unforeseen complications with our mid-century home's plumbing, and turned out even better than we could have imagined. Choosing Bela was one of the best decisions we've ever made for our home, and we can't recommend them enough. Bela Development and Ben were absolutely amazing in installing a kegerator in my backyard! Attentive, professional, fast, and very clean, can't recommend them enough.

Bela came very highly recommended by one of our good friends so we used them to do a bit of work to our new house. They installed 4 skylights, replaced and installed all of our recessed lighting, knocked down a wall, and expanded our fireplace in a matter of 4 weeks. We were out of town most of the time that the work was being done but they were extremely communicative the whole way through and we felt very comfortable having their team there even while we were out of town. Overall, we had a really great experience working with the Bela team and will definitely hire them again in the future.

After water damage from a broken pipe damaged our home, I hired Ben and his guys to do major renovations to the place including replacing the entire floor, tiling In the bathrooms, fireplace tiling, drywall, and we added on a new backsplash, shower doors and a barn door in the office. All the repairs were done well and Ben and the team were excellent on communication. They responded quickly whenever there was a question. The tiling and dry wall look great. His main worker, Cesar is very detail oriented, careful, and able to find good solutions to make the little details come out right. I highly recommend Bela for your project.

Michael, Ben, Tom and the rest of the team did such a great job! We needed a refresh to our downstairs bath and couldn't be happier with the turnout. We also wanted a window put into the entryway, as the area was pretty dark and they did that too. They can pretty much accomplish anything you throw at them. Their communication was great as they were quick to respond and keep us updated on everything. They were also very accommodating of our schedule. Will definitely use them on future projects.

The entire Bela Development team provided excellent and professional service. I hired Bela to complete unprofessional work from a previous contractor for wood flooring in my entry and remodeling a powder room. Bela assisted me with finding a great bathroom accessories vendor. Each member of the team responded quickly to all of my correspondence and were easily accessible. I live in a condominium and Bela assisted with communicating to management company. We hired Bela to do a complete exterior remodel of our 1936 Studio City house, as well as to tackle a few interior projects inside. We “interviewed” a handful of contractors before deciding. We were searching for someone who was honest, could deliver high quality results, and had that hard to quantify quality of someone who just “gets it”. At our first meeting I found Ben and Shay to be knowledgeable, personable and straightforward. In combination with seeing other work they’ve done, their personalities (getting along with and liking your contractor is important), and their willingness to work with us on budget, we felt Bela was the best fit for us. My vision for the house was a carefully and thoughtfully designed refresh for an old house in a charming neighborhood that could look brand new or like a meticulously maintained 86 year old house, while keeping all of the character and warmth of the house intact. My husband and I are both very detail oriented and thorough people, meaning we don’t accept messy and don’t let mistakes slide, which can probably make us a challenging client set sometimes. I will note that the quoted time frame for the project duration was significantly shorter than the actual project duration, which I was prepared for. After having completed multiple house remodels it’s easier to assume that everything is going to take twice as long and cost twice as much, hah. And ultimately I’d rather have everything just right and take longer than something rushed for the sake of meeting a deadline. We did have a couple of bumps in the road that primarily centered around some communication issues, but Ben was committed to rectifying the situation in a timely manner and making sure we were happy. Michael helped out as our project manager and was extremely attentive and proactive. In the end, Bela delivered a beautiful and high quality result that we are just in love with. Bela stayed committed to the integrity of the design throughout. I feel like our house has been given a whole new life, and really is one of the best houses on our street now, in all of its 1,600 sf glory :) I’d hire Bela again in a heartbeat. Thanks guys!

Ben and team helped with a wall and door installation and repainting our den. His team was courteous, efficient, and communicative. The team was able to handle some on the fly adjustments and did a great job for us.

We had a great experience working with Ben and team for our condo bathroom renovations last year. The team was very responsive and communicative throughout the process. We communicated weekly via text and email and they returned calls quickly. The crew is very talented and reliable, especially their tile guy. They was very receptive to our feedback throughout the process. I definitely feel like they had our best interest at heart and despite some hiccups in the process (don’t buy Ikea cabinets - they are a plumbing code nightmare), they finished in a timely manner and we LOVE the end results. They stayed dedicated to the job until the very end, returning for minor finishing touches even months after completion of the job. The code requirements and permit process for City of Santa Monica condos were a bit of a headache. The process was a learning experience for Bela and for us and did cause a few weeks delay in the beginning but we were able to work through it together. Once the work was started the team was efficient and clean. We would definitely use them again and have recommended their services to our friends. I highly recommend Bela to anyone considering a renovation.

The Bela team transformed two of our bathrooms into exactly what we wanted for our house in Venice. Their design team was creative and patient. Bela also made the construction process as painless and fast as possible, even though renovating two bathrooms can be disruptive. They took ownership of every headache, and did so with good humor and patience. We worked with Eric for a kitchen-remodel starting July 2021. He provided the details of the construction process before we signed the contract. The virtual drawings of the new kitchen that Chase provided helped us visualize the result before construction started. Design options were also discussed in the context of these drawings. Eric provided frequent updates regarding the schedule for construction and inspection. Overall, he was very responsive to answering our questions and to correcting any issues that were discovered during construction. There were no cost-overruns and the project was completed earlier than expected. The new kitchen is beautiful with top quality workmanship. We are very pleased with the results and we would recommend Bela for this type of project.

Ben understood how much our hands were tied with a newborn and we fully entrusted his expertise to take matter into his own hands. When there were unforeseen problems due to the conditions of our home, he took the initiative to problem solve and find solutions. He really took care of us and went the extra mile to send runners to pick up supplies upon request so we did not have stress about the little things, helped us fix other stuff around the house and allowed us to focus more on the fun stuff such as choosing and designing the details of our Bathroom. Overall, our new Kitchen was completed in a timely manner and is everything we imagined it would and more. Ben was conscientious with our budget, negotiating every line item down with each subcontractor, was on the job site periodically and kept us fully updated on the progress. This remodel was my first one working with Ben and I look forward to my next project with them. I spent weeks searching till I found a company that I feel gave me a fair price. Bela Development can do the whole project in the promised time and it was great process throughout. The design process was quick , permits took about 2 weeks and project itself 7 weeks including inspections, also the workers are friendly and great and Ben is easy to communicate with and understood what I want. I plan to use them in the future for all my needs.

I was referred to Bela from my next door neighbuor. They had their kitchen done as well. My wife and I were surprised at how nice the job came out because, we never liked the idea of taking out the old cabinets. After seeing the finished project we talked to their project manager Yossi and asked him to work on a design for our house. This was a fun quick bathroom remodel project thanks to Eric and the Bela Development team. We were looking for a reliable company who can remodel our simple bathroom and take care of all the permits and city paper work. Bela and Eric were able to execute everything without any issues and very quickly considering the long waiting periods for inspections due to Covid. I’d wanted hardwood floors in our loft for years. It’s a tiny bedroom only 130 square feet. So here I go on my search for quotes. I always get four quotes on anything I do to compare. Ben one of the owners of Bela Development was the first to come out. He is very friendly, punctual, and straightforward. He gave me a quote and, in my head, I thought OMG, this is so expensive. I will not name the other three companies out of respect. So, three more companies and three more quotes later, I found I kept going back to Bela Development to compare. So, I used them. They were the only company that would move all the furniture, pull up and depose of the old carpet. And they were the least expensive company out of all four. Tom, is the other owner that I’d meet and he was lovely as well. They did an excellent job. We love how professional and quick they were at doing the job. We love the hardwood floors so much we are getting a quote to do our downstairs.

They removed and replaced our entire kitchen and about 1500 sqft of flooring in less than a month. Quality work on a phenomenal timeframe. Ben showed great integrity and stands behind his work without excuses.

After major repairs to my gas and sewer lines I was left with three gaping holes in my hardscape that required patching. I contacted Bela Development to get a quote and, from the first site visit through completion of the project, Ben and the entire staff and crew with Bela Development were a pleasure to deal with and the work exceeded my expectations. I'm so happy with the work quality and professionalism of Ben and Ron with Bela. I had some relatively minor repair after some water damage (drywall, flooring, ceiling, molding) and found it difficult to get even get a contractor to respond. This was after 3 months of working with insurance, mitigation workers, and estimators to settle the claim. After contacting Bela over the weekend, they were here on Monday to provide an estimate, got to work two days later, and the work was completed by Friday! Not only that, but the project managers also came by multiple times to make sure I was happy with the work. The quality of the work was great and they were happy to fix a few things that weren't perfect. Their workers were courteous and considerate of my wife and I working from home. To make things even better, the work cost about half what we were quoted by the company the insurance hired. Overall, working with Bela was the surprise happy ending to a long, frustrating saga.

Michael was great right from the start. On time and on top of the project, available any time I needed to ask anything and patient in answering all my questions. The quote they provided was in between the highest and lowest bid that I had gotten, and they were completely worth the cost in my opinion. We had to get drywall, paint and engineered hardwood flooring done due to water damage and the estimated time was a month but they finished it in 2 weeks. Anderson and his team that did the work were fantastic and very nice folks. They were patient and accommodated all of my requests especially with the flooring and paint color even if it meant re-doing some of it just based on my taste and quirks. There are some minor creeks due to air gaps and floor not being leveled but this is an older condo as well. Overall, I had peace of mind as I received regular updates and pictures. We had a plan in place that they stuck to and a price that we had agreed upon. I am very content with the outcome and I would highly recommend Bela.

Bela helped with a 30 year old, 8-unit townhome complex: Replaced the roof, installed all new rain gutters, replaced improperly installed windows and redid all the electrical. Bella was incredibly professional, efficient, thorough and knowledgeable. I have never worked with such a professional general contractor.

I had a wonderful experience working with Ben, Tom, and team on a recent bathroom remodel, and was really pleased with the quality of work. They were incredibly responsive, professional, and communicative; and offered design guidance and rationale for any decisions that needed to be made along the way. I received a comprehensive estimate at the onset of the project, for which they stayed 100% on budget. We chose to work with Bela Development due to their efficiency, honesty, and professionalism during our initial calls, visit, and quote. Did an excellent job putting in tile for the restroom in our yoga studio. Worked with our schedule so we didn’t have to cancel many classes and finished the job beautifully.

Bela Development renovated our upstairs, did drywall, installed recessed lights, added insulation and drywall on vaulted ceiling and painted the whole place. They were very punctual and worked very professionally. I’m quiet happy with their work. Will definitely recommend working with them.

Almost every day one of them was on-site working with their crew and checking progress. We had a kitchen remodel done including knocking down a wall in order to make the space open plan. Very happy and satisfied with all the great work from Ben and Itamar! From the very beginning Ben was great in constantly staying in touch and keeping me updated being that i'm in NY so it was a bit difficult for me to know everything that was going on. He constantly kept me updated about the progress and was patient while my company completed our part of the work. They were very professional and the work was very well done. They even went out there way to do the necessary work on a very rainy weekend to help us meet our deadline. The cost was also very fair for all the work that was done. Ben Eyal from Bela Development arrived at our home during a crisis- a large water leak had been discovered under and behind our built-in refrigerator, which led to mold and destruction. Long story short, we had an insurance claim, mold abatement and a mess that ultimately resulted in demolition of half of our beautiful kitchen, down to the studs. Our insurance company sent contractors, but they were incompetent/flaky, and weeks went by without any progress. I began looking for a local Venice contractor to take over this job. I found Ben at Bela Development. Ben answered our distress call, came to our house right away, and took charge, even though the project was not big! He had a difficult job- not build a brand new kitchen from scratch, but to rebuild the half of our kitchen that had been damaged, restoring it to its original form. The kitchen is galley- style, and only one side was damaged. Right away he sent in his subcontractors, including an incredible cabinet maker who replicated our old cabinets, a very experienced granite installer, an excellent painter and a plumber. The kitchen was reconstructed in a matter of weeks, just as we wanted! Ben and his crew saved the day! He listened to what we wanted, explained the risks involved, and delivered on his promises. He took care of details, making sure the end result would be outstanding. Also, he did not delay, stall or make excuses. He gave five-star service all around. Lastly, he is always smiling and bringing very positive energy with him! We feel so lucky to have found Ben, and we will hire him again in the future for other projects. We recommend him without reservation.
