AVID Construction

We hired Avid construction to build an addition to our home. A 4 month project turned into 18months of disappointments and deceptions. Had to hire another contractor to finish and fix all of their mistakes and shortcuts. We got taken. This is the nicest version of what I really think of Joe Tracz and Avid Construction.

Horrible experience with Avid Construction and Joe Tracz. He took our money and never did the work. He didn’t answer phone or email messages. We had to take him to small claims court and he didn’t even bother to show up! I would NEVER recommend Avid Construction. Run, don’t walk! This company, and Joe Tracz are scam artists!

Every nightmare you hear about bad contractors is Avid Construction and then some. Avid Construction Inc. has left my home uninhabitable. My addition was quoted at 4-6 months and is not finished after 19 months!!! No heat or running water to parts of the house, no working shower/bath! After getting your money Joe Tracz and his crew will only work one or two days a week to not showing up at all for weeks! Calls and texts go unanswered and if he does answer it’s only to give excuses and drag it out further. I’ve lost count of dates given and no one shows up. Avid has NO respect for your property! His crew used my personal items and left my property unsecured on numerous occasions. Many broken items in my home. He will not return calls to the city building department. I have received letters from sub-contractors about non-payment from Joe! I’ve had to hire an attorney and will have to turn to the courts to right all of Avid Constructions wrongs! Dealing with Avid Construction was the WORST contractor decision I have ever made! If I could give a negative rating I would.

This is the fourth time I have contracted with Avid Construction. I keep going back to them because of the exceptional work they do. Their work is top-notch and professional. They just finished finishing my basement and I love it! Half of the basement is a play area for my grandchildren and the other half a fitness space. Avid also completed the project on time!

From concept to finished product AVID is the best. Attention to detail and to our needs make the entire AVID team professional and easy to recommend.

Avid converted our main living space into an open floor plan. We were impressed with the quality of work and attention to detail. The workers were very professional and courteous. They went above and beyond the original plans and allowed us the flexibility to make changes during the project. Joe was wonderful to work with. He was always receptive to our needs and concerns. He made sure that everything was done to our satisfaction. We recommend Avid and would utilize them again. The house looks amazing.

I had intended on posting a review of my project at the completion last year. I decided not to because I felt that I was too frustrated with the experience of dealing with Joe to be bothered. It has been a little over a year since our project was completed. Part of the project included dry walling our bedroom, At the time my husband questioned how they were installing it since it seemed haphazard to him. This week a crack appeared in the ceiling. The crack is along a seam. After looking at it closer my husband found that it was not taped prior to the mud being applied. I would not recommend Avid for any type of project. They are not timely and the work was sub standard. They did not take care to clean up after themselves.

Communication with Joe started off great, but once he had our money, he was more difficult to contact unless via text, which we asked several times to not communicate with us this way. We had to question the quality of workmanship several times because we thought it was not acceptable (i.e. a very visible hole in the wall, dishwasher installed improperly, crooked outlets just to name a few). We had to bring in a service repairman on our own to fix the dishwasher. Ultimately, we found this entire experience to be unprofessional. Joe should be ashamed of his customer service!

I can't thank Joe and his crew enough for the great job they completed at my house. Everyone was professional, worked well together and left the job cleanup everyday.

Avid Construction was price competitive in the Cleveland market and delivered my addition on-time and on-specification. Owner, Joe Tracz, was readily accessible during the planning and construction phases of the project. Calls were taken immediately or responded to within same day. Meetings at the job site were professional and issues were resolved quickly. Several minor follow0-up issues were resolved quickly. Avid aims for complete customer satisfaction, construction quality was very good, and project site was maintained neat and orderly. Overall experience was positive and I would use this contractor again for other residential projects.

I turned my shed into a Pool Bar. Avid Construction provided carpentry work to drywall the inside of the shed, put a large removable window in and granite counters on the inside and outside. They also expanded my concrete footprint from the pool to the new pool bar with stamped concrete.

Avid Construction replaced two bath vanities and a shower for us. The project was supposed to take 3-4 weeks--not 3-4 months! Many problems: leak into kitchen ceiling below, marble panels cut too short and filled to with excessive caulk, foam pieces used to fill in hole instead of marble piece (which we corrected later), and the hot/cold water control was installed improperly so we could not get hot water when they left. They then send another contractor to correct it. Too many imperfections to mention here. Several times we were told they would be here at such a date and time and they did not show up or even show enough professionalism and courtesy to call and let us know. Some of Avid's employees should be ashamed of their lack of respect for the customer. Their shoddy, botched workmanship and work ethic made our experience with Avid Construction very frustrating.
