Oak hardwoods were laced into the existing floors, butcher block countertops contrast against the painted shaker cabinets, matte brass fixtures add sophistication, while the custom subway tile range hood and feature wall with floating shelves pop against the dark wall. The best feature? A dishwasher. After all these years as a couple, this is the first time the two have a dishwasher. We understood the customer's dream to remove an existing closet and several walls. We began with the removal of several structural walls and closet. We found that the previous contractor had incorrectly removed structural wood posts. We secured the structural integrity of the building with wood and steel. We proceeded to expand the opening between the Kitchen and Butler Pantry, which included relocating waste and water lines from the second floor. We upgraded the existing electrical and installed a 440-volt electrical system for the entire home. You can enjoy the illumination of the cabinetry and kitchen, by the pendant lights, recessed lights, under cabinet lights, and curio lights in the glass door cabinets, Note the brick pattern Subway tile from the counter top to the ceiling, in the kitchen and the Butler Pantry. Take special notice of the decorative tile area above the range. The chimney style hood was vented to the exterior. The unique sitting area, near the rear entry, was finished with beadboard paneling and wall cabinets up to the ceiling., trimmed with crown molding. One of the biggest investments you can make in your home is in your kitchen. Now with the Revive model, you don’t have to break the bank to get an updated kitchen with new finishes and a whole new look! This powder blue kitchen we are sharing today is a classic example of such a space! The kitchen had a great layout, the cabinets had good bones, and all it needed were some simple updates. To learn more about what we did, continue reading below! Cabinets As previously mentioned, the kitchen cabinetry already had great bones. So, in this case, we were able to refinish them to a painted cream on the perimeter. As for the island, we created a new design where new cabinetry was installed. New cabinets are from WWWoods Shiloh, with a raised panel door style, and a custom painted finish for these powder blue cabinets. Countertops The existing kitchen countertops were able to remain because they were already in great condition. Plus, it matched the new finishes perfectly. This is a classic case of “don’t fix it if it ain’t broke”! Backsplash For the backsplash, we kept it simple with subway tile but played around with different sizes, colors, and patterns. The main backsplash tile is a Daltile Modern Dimensions, in a 4.5×8.5 size, in the color Elemental Tan, and installed in a brick-lay formation. The splash over the cooktop is a Daltile Rittenhouse Square, in a 3×6 size, in the color Arctic White, and installed in a herringbone pattern. Fixtures and Finishes The plumbing fixtures we planned to reuse from the start since they were in great condition. In addition, the oil-rubbed bronze finish went perfectly with the new finishes of the kitchen. We did, however, install new hardware because the original kitchen did not have any. So, from Amerock we selected Muholland pulls which were installed on all the doors and drawers.

The original kitchen in this stunning home was L-shaped and had a small island and peninsula seating. We expanded the kitchen by enclosing an existing screen porch and adding a new porch to the rear of the house with breathtaking lake views. Large picture windows replaced existing double hung windows for open views and unencumbered sight lines. The kitchen was relocated and expanded with a new and improved layout featuring an oversized island with ample seating and a warm wood countertop. The Thermador range takes center stage between the large picture windows and has a boxed hood with vent. Cabinet panels were added to the built-in refrigerator for a clean and sophisticated look. The white cabinets and marble look quartz are balanced by the warm wood floors and stained countertops. Lantern style pendant lights and strategically placed can lights add to the warmth and brightness of this spectacularly renovated kitchen. A keeping room was added where the kitchen used to be. A cozy fireplace and reworked windows provide a relaxing space for entertaining. A built-in bar and beverage station was designed for this casual, yet elegant space. A sliding barn door leads to a large walk-through pantry. The new kitchen placement allowed us to provide a connection to the existing living room with an oversized cased opening. The spaces are now perfectly aligned for daily living and entertaining. The client is thrilled with the design and is in awe of the results. Kustom Home Design provided the perfect solution for this luxury kitchen renovation.
