The designer and client had a one-of-a-kind vision of an entry where contemporary vocabulary and light-filled, welcoming grace could meet. Rich hardwoods, precise metal trims, and engaging asymmetry made it real. Ingenious engineering and craftsmanship made it work: Fabricated steel rods and brackets float protective canopies, and a hidden drainage system ensures the result will stand up beautifully for years to come.

The Intrepid- A has a clean and sophisticated look using a low roof pitch, large offset windows, and cantilevered upper level with mixed finishes. The interior continues the feel with varying ceiling heights through the open concept, including a tray ceiling in the living room and 10' ceilings in the kitchen and dining. There are two secondary bedrooms that have walk-in closets with a bath to share on the upper level and an office/fourth bedroom on the main level. The master suite is very spacious and has a nice four piece bath with a large walk-in closet.

he owner of this house wanted to give a “facelift” to his newly purchased home and convert it into a modern design residence. We translated their vision into this magnificent modern-looking house. This project included a complete redesign of the exterior of the house, including the backyard landscaping and a full-size, infinity-edge pool and custom jacuzzi. All the custom concrete work, swimming pool, and pool-side BBQ island, complete with sink and mini-fridge gave this homeowner their own paradise getaway right in the heart of Beverly Hills.

The distinctive transitional exterior welcomes friends and family with interesting peaked rooflines, stone pillars, stucco details and a symmetrical bank of windows. A three-car garage and custom details throughout give this compact home the appeal and amenities of a much-larger design and are a nod to the Craftsman and Mediterranean designs that influenced this updated architectural gem. A custom wood entry with sidelights match the triple transom windows featured throughout the house and echo the trim and features seen in the spacious three-car garage. While concentrated on one main floor and a lower level, there is no shortage of living and entertaining space inside. The main level includes more than 2,100 square feet, with a roomy 31 by 18-foot living room and kitchen combination off the central foyer that’s perfect for hosting parties or family holidays. The left side of the floor plan includes a 10 by 14-foot dining room, a laundry and a guest bedroom with bath. To the right is the more private spaces, with a relaxing 11 by 10-foot study/office which leads to the master suite featuring a master bath, closet and 13 by 13-foot sleeping area with an attractive peaked ceiling. The walkout lower level offers another 1,500 square feet of living space, with a large family room, three additional family bedrooms and a shared bath.

A simple desert plant palette complements the clean Modernist lines of this Arcadia-area home. Architect C.P. Drewett says the exterior color palette lightens the residence’s sculptural forms. “We also painted it in the springtime,” Drewett adds. “It’s a time of such rejuvenation, and every time I’m involved in a color palette during spring, it reflects that spirit.” Featured in the November 2008 issue of Phoenix Home & Garden, this "magnificently modern" home is actually a suburban loft located in Arcadia, a neighborhood formerly occupied by groves of orange and grapefruit trees in Phoenix, Arizona. The home, designed by architect C.P. Drewett, offers breathtaking views of Camelback Mountain from the entire main floor, guest house, and pool area. These main areas "loft" over a basement level featuring 4 bedrooms, a guest room, and a kids' den. Features of the house include white-oak ceilings, exposed steel trusses, Eucalyptus-veneer cabinetry, honed Pompignon limestone, concrete, granite, and stainless steel countertops. The owners also enlisted the help of Interior Designer Sharon Fannin. The project was built by Sonora West Development of Scottsdale, AZ.

Inspired by wide, flat landscapes and stunning views, Prairie style exteriors embrace horizontal lines, low-pitched roofs, and natural materials. This stunning two-story Modern Prairie home is no exception. With a pleasing symmetrical shape and modern materials, this home is clean and contemporary yet inviting at the same time. Positioned near the base of iconic Camelback Mountain, “Outside In” is a modernist home celebrating the love of outdoor living Arizonans crave. The design inspiration was honoring early territorial architecture while applying modernist design principles. Dressed with undulating negra cantera stone, the massing elements of “Outside In” bring an artistic stature to the project’s design hierarchy. This home boasts a first (never seen before feature) — a re-entrant pocketing door which unveils virtually the entire home’s living space to the exterior pool and view terrace. A timeless chocolate and white palette makes this home both elegant and refined. Oriented south, the spectacular interior natural light illuminates what promises to become another timeless piece of architecture for the Paradise Valley landscape.
