This project started off as a completely derelict 17th Century pair of agricultural workers dwellings, with no electricity, heating, bathrooms or kitchens. Indeed the roof had caved in and trees were growing through the upper cottage, all also covered in ivy. A full restoration and reconstruction was carried out slowly, incorporating all sorts of architectural pieces gathered at sales and auctions that were period pieces, suitable for this restored building. The project developed as it went along, with new pieces to incorporate after each sale attended revealed more architectural elements and it became a major labour of love. The kitchen floor is formed using sandstone flags, laid randomly, as shown. The kitchen table incorporates an old pew from a local church that was deemed redundant on the far side of the kitchen table. Now complete, if offers five bedrooms on three levels, a huge kitchen dayroom, sauna, study and a double height lounge overlooking the rolling North Wales countryside and coast in the distance. This Rancho Santa Margarita kitchen was remodeled from small and boring to classy and beautiful. The designer, Bruce Colucci, used light cherry Le Gourmet Kitchen custom cabinetry with a crackled glass accents to make the room appear more open. The granite countertops flow effortlessly into the Shaw farmhouse sink. To blend with the country style motif the client wanted, the designer used a Bead board back and a plate rack above the sink. The colorful slate floors pair perfectly with the back splash to create unity throughout the room. There are two sinks in the kitchen, making for easy meal preparation and clean up after. We added a room divider with a wood top on it to make it easy for buffet style serving.

The homeowner wanted to open the feel of her kitchen but she did not want the refrigerator against a wall. The refrigerator was boxed in by cabinet panel on the 2 sides and back, which created a bridge effect, a perfect place to hang wine glasses.
