Custom built walnut cabinetry with a waterfall quartz island. The walls of cabinetry are wrapped with similar waterfall forms. Thermador appliances are set in flush with the flat walnut veneer doors.

A Brookfield couple wanted to update their 20-year old kitchen. The goal was to open up the room so they could entertain friends and family. The old kitchen felt tight and was showing its wear. It had broken cabinets, outdated appliances, floral wallpaper, laminate countertops and vinyl flooring. Kowalske Kitchen & Bath designed a traditional kitchen with plenty of character and details – raised panel cherry cabinets, crown molding, quartz counters and a decorative backsplash above the stove. We brightened up the area by removing the soffits and added recessed lighting and pendants over the island. We gave them more storage and counter space by reconfiguring the layout and removing an old closet and an awkward peninsula. The end result is a smart, sophisticated kitchen!

The warmth of quarter sawn oak is one of a kind. It's a great choice when looking for a natural, neutral cabinet. In this project, it was paired with a simple white quartz countertop. And it's golden natural hue was emphasized with gold hardware, and wicker pendants.

My client called me in for a "Design Perspective". She hated her floors and wanted my professional opinion. I questioned whether I should be brutally honest, and her response was "absolutely". Then truth be told, "your countertops bother me more than your floors". My client has a stunningly beautiful home and her countertops were not in "the same league". So the project scope expanded from new floors to include countertops, backsplash, plumbing fixtures and hardware. While we were at it, her overly froufrou corbels were updated along with dishwashers that "drove her crazy". Since there was plenty of "demo" in store, she elected to lower her breakfast bar to counter height at the same time to connect her nook more seamlessly with her kitchen. The process: at our first slab warehouse stop, within ten minutes, we uncovered the most beautiful slabs of Taj Mahal ever. No need to keep looking. The slabs had perfect coloration and veining. So different from any other slab of Taj Mahal, it really ought to have its own name. Countertop selection was easy as was the subway and Arabesque backsplash tile. Polished chrome, with its blend of warm and cool tones, was the obvious choice for her plumbing fixture and hardware finish. Finding the right floor tile was what proved to be most challenging, but my client was up to the task. Several weeks of shopping and numerous samples hauled home led us to the perfect limestone. Once her room was complete, better barstools were in order. Hancock and Moore with their huge assortment of leather colors and textures was our clear choice. The Ellie barstools selected embody the perfect blend of form and comfort. Her new limestone flooring extends into her Butler's pantry, pool bath, powder bath and sewing room, so wait, there is still more to do.

The task was to update the clients condo and breath new life into the space. The kitchen, photographed before the remodel, was closed off, with limited space. There was virtually no storage and the lighting was poor. The biggest issue for the owner, was lacking countertop space and the fact that it was confined to one space, lacking an opening between the kitchen and the dining room. A celebration of lightness and height. This sophisticated kitchen remodel brings the beautiful outdoors inside in the most modern way with its subtle combination of shades and textures. Light travertine tile floors and warm white walls create a soft background for the linear pattern Cypress cabinets that run the perimeter and extend to the highest point of the sloped ceiling. A pair of wall cabinets have fold-up doors in coffee glass. Engineered quartz counters repeat the warm white as does the custom painted i-beam table base. Easily accessible storage space behind the stainless tambour doors cleanly conceals multiple small appliances. A large Galley sink makes multi-tasking a breeze with its adjustable accessories. Kitchen designer Maria Fortoul of Studio Snaidero Houston, in collaboration with Nina Magon from Contour Interior Design, created a fine balance to perfection in this beautiful modern house in Beaumont, Texas. This kitchen features a contemporary design, where custom Italian made Snaidero WAY cabinets in rich wood textured melamine are complemented by a striking light grey high gloss lacquered island, exquisite lighting and modern indigo blue chairs.
