Knowing little to nothing about furnishing an apartment, I was more than lucky to be introduced to Sally. From our very first meeting, her interest in my situation and her ability quickly and accurately assess my tastes, left me feeling confident and safe in her hands. She provided a clear summary of the steps involved and process she follows. Costs were clearly laid out at each stage. When I found myself suddenly squeezed for funds, she readily adjusted our plan to fit my budget. Following an agreed outline of the concept we worked together filling in the finer details. All necessary trades to complete my project turned up on time, as if by magic, on the day stated. Sally was very easy to communicate with, readily answered my emails and was very open to adjustments. Progress was seamless and ordered. One major item which would dominate the living area was a substantial bookcase which needed to incorporate spaces for audio systems, storage, books as well as a desk area. Sally designed, commissioned the construction and organised the installation. My visitors invariably comment on my bookcase and I love it. I would have no hesitation in recommending her. Sally has an instinct for style and colour, is very easy to communicate with and highly professional in her approach.

Coming with an excellent recommendation from an architect friend, talking with Sally in those first few initial conversations, and checking out Sally’s website, we were confident that Sally could deliver on our project (full renovation and interior design of a 70’s apartment in Elwood). In addition to this and when you can’t agree with your partner / wife / husband on how the re design of your house should be then this is the perfect time to call Sally as we did. She was the marriage broker in order to satisfy both parties with a fantastic end result. We had ideas which she challenged on many occasions, of which I actually enjoyed this process. This was our second engagement with Sally, this time for a whole of house renovation, including a new kitchen, bathrooms, study, lounge, family room, laundry, and bedrooms. Sally guided us through the whole process and made it super easy. The design sessions were lots of fun. She worked closely with us to understand our needs and design solutions that are both functional as well as beautiful. She also helped us to keep to our budget by suggesting where money could be saved, and where it was worth spending a little more. We love the result. The spaces in our renovated home flow and work so much better for our family. Our expanded kitchen allows people to gather and socialise as we prepare meals. One of Sally’s inspired suggestions was a small utility station that serves as a place for the kids to place their schoolbags at the end of the day, charge their devices, and pin school notices. An inexpensive solution that helps keep our family life sorted and reduces clutter around the house. Sally has a brilliant eye for colour and we absolutely love the suggestions she made for our bathroom tiles and kitchen cabinetry (all colours we would never have considered if we were designing it ourselves). The cabinetry she designed for our study and family room is amazing and spending time in these spaces is just a pleasure. Even the tradies on site were impressed with the TV wall cabinetry. We highly recommend Sally. She transformed our home into a functional, beautiful, calm place where we can entertain and spend time as a family.

Sally designed the renovation of our 1950's beach house and we could not have been in better hands. Sensitive to the period and our desire to keep the much loved character of our home, Sally was integral in creating a contemporary look and feel while maintaining and enhancing the things we loved. With a flair for simple and beautiful materials alongside great design, Sally has helped us create a home that is true to its original period while bringing it into the 21st century. Sally is a great communicator and always provided options, giving us the ability to save in some areas and splurge in others. Professional and a good listener, Sally would always give her opinion, often steering us out of making poor decisions. Her depth of experience is reflected in her knowledge of design and her little black book of the best suppliers around. We engaged Sally in June 2021 to completely refurbish our home after we moved to Canterbury in Oct 2020. This involved new furniture for all the house as well as curtains, blinds, painting the interior, carpet, rugs, built in cabinetry, electrics, plumbing and some heating/air cond updates. Sally listened to our feedback on her designs and adjusted accordingly although we generally deferred to her choices, trusting her eye and experience. We had specific requirements around the designs of the study desk, lounge coffee table and dining table with Sally personally coming up with concept designs that we were very happy with. Her team of tradespeople and suppliers were excellent and went the extra mile to get the job done to a high standard. The pandemic restrictions did create challenges along the way but she worked through these calmly despite the job extended out due to these restraints. We recommend Sally with no hesitation and very much enjoyed working with her as she transformed our home.

We worked with Sally over several years to fulfill the vision we had for our lovely home in Eltham. We started, in many ways, not knowing what we wanted or what we could achieve with our 1990’s house. When we first met Sally our home was fraying around the edges and not functioning adequately to serve the needs of our growing family. We recently purchased a new apartment. We chose Sally Feeney to undertake the design of our interior. Sally spent time with us to understand exactly what our brief was. From there Sally created a mood board for us reflecting exactly what we had asked. Sally then spent time with us to explain exactly what she proposed enabling us to make any changes that we thought necessary. Sally was very mindful of our budget and made the necessary amendments to reflect that. She sometimes had to find alternative solutions. The end result has been far more than we could have imagined. We have just completed the renovation of the rear of our 1890’s inner suburban home. Whilst we wanted to modernize the home we did not want to lose the beauty and character of the original home. When we started to look at the scope of the project it quickly became clear that we needed a major rebuild of the daily living area of the home including kitchen and pantry, bathroom and main bedroom, ensuite, steam room and laundry and a very large living area. We wanted the whole project to flow from the late Victorian home at the front to the 21st Century extension at the rear without any clashing division between the old and the new. We had worked with the builders before on previous renovations and knew they could deliver an amazing structure that blended sympathetically with the old and new. We were so fortunate to have Sally Feeney recommended by them for the design component of the project. Sally has a wonderful ability in being able to translate our often intangible ideas and thoughts into concrete designs and structures and then to blend colour schemes, floor coverings, lighting etc into a cohesive design that truly brought our ideas to reality. Sally would combine her vast experience and knowledge of what is available and what works with how we saw our future home. She is such a good communicator and as we were project managing the build ourselves, was able to talk to the builder, trades people and us to create the home we wanted. Sally never pushed her own ideas onto our build but worked with us and the builders at every stage and level to create a great home. The end result was a rejuvenated home that maintained the character of the original home and yet seamlessly incorporated a fabulous extension with all of our thoughts perfectly translated. Neighbours and passers by regularly comment on the beauty of the home and how it lifts their spirits to see such a home restored. We now have a home we love.

Sally was introduced to us by the builder we had engaged to undertake alterations to our existing home. We liked her immediately and she was able to quickly understand what we required and what appealed to us then tapped into her broad knowledge of colour, form, materials and finishes to bring a unique sense of style to our project. Sally liaised closely with the builders and their subcontractors during the project which ensured that her designs where executed without error. Her attention to detail is impressive – precise measurements and ideas for cabinetry, a perfectly designed wooden knife block in a kitchen drawer, beautifully executed mitred corners on special cushions – these are only a few examples of what has made our completed project so beautiful and wonderful to live in. Sally was always well prepared, punctual and patiently long suffering of our nit picking. She has a team of experts in their particular fields to call on who carry out her requests – building furniture, making curtains, blinds, quilted bedspreads, cushions etc. etc. – with great results. Sally’s contacts in the trade made the task of choosing fabrics, furniture and fittings so much easier and saved so much time. We know that without Sally we would not have been able to achieve the end result we wanted and we are most grateful to her for all she has done to make our home so beautiful and comfortable. The experience of working with Sally was both positive and enjoyable and we have no hesitation in recommending her and are happy to talk to others who, like us, do not have the time or skills to design and execute a renovation. Having done an earlier renovation 10 years ago, my needs had changed and I was working full time and had no time to devote to do all the research, so I needed help. I had a few things on my list, but learned from my last renovation that staging the work was going to keep the disruption to a minimum. Sally understood that immediately and her responses were completely in-tune with that desire. The first stage was to renovate floors in bathrooms and laundry and the bathroom benchtops, paint the hallway, and make my daughter's bedroom into a relaxing, calm room for guests. The solutions required colour, furniture and textile choices including wallpaper, which would harmonise the existing elements in the house - keeping in mind future planned changes. Sally's choice of colour and fabrics was economical, beautiful and so matched to our style. Sally has a terrific range of tradesmen she works with and you know she is thinking about you when she is out and about - I was happy to buy sheets for the bedroom but was quietly relieved when she rang me to say she could pick them up on her travels. I was not going to save any money doing it for myself and it saved me a lot of time shopping. I loved working with Sally. She even recommended a wall colour for my kitchen (which I would never have chosen!) which harmonised with the colours she had introduced in the other rooms. I have since had that painted and just love how it makes my spotted gum kitchen look so earthy and beautiful. I highly recommend Sally.

As our new holiday home at Portsea was nearing completion there were a number of choices to be made regarding internal finishing. I knew I would find it a daunting task and was delighted when our builder introduced me to Sally. She seemed to understand immediately what we wanted to achieve. She has a great sense of style as well as practical hints and we were very happy with the end result. Sally sourced and presented a few suggestions for tiling, accompanied me to choose bathroom and kitchen fittings, and by narrowing down choices for me made the task so easy. Sally understood that we were building the home to accommodate numerous grandchildren and that we wanted the house stylish but not too precious and she accommodated that. As a fully qualified designer I would have been happy to have her input earlier during the build as she has a great eye for detail. I am also very happy with some subtle lighting suggestions she made. I would recommend Sally to anyone going through the daunting process of building or renovating as her experience is helpful in avoiding mistakes that are difficult and expensive to rectify later.

We engaged Sally for a colour consultation to help us develop a colour scheme to freshen up our home.
