Hello!
This 3 level home with a narrow 25 foot street frontage was built on an 'L' shaped infill parcel that wraps around the client's existing 1908 rental house (to the right).
The vertical & horizontal black metal, as well as reclaimed wood make up the home's exterior siding expressing the shapes and cantilevered forms of the home.
The custom steel window "fins" that frame the window's exterior were fabricated by Brian Creany of Flux Design here in Portland, OR. http://fluxcraft.com/

Modern twist on the classic A-frame profile. This multi-story Duplex has a striking façade that juxtaposes large windows against organic and industrial materials. Built by Mast & Co Design/Build features distinguished asymmetrical architectural forms which accentuate the contemporary design that flows seamlessly from the exterior to the interior.
Quality Edge
Vesta Plank siding by Quality Edge, in Coal and Sea Glass. Designed to echo the veins and tones of natural wood, six unique and intricate hand-drawn panels make up every Vesta woodgrain color. All six planks are drawn to complement each other. Panels are distinct enough to create an impactful, signature look that is as beautiful up close as it is far away. Our tri-color paint application creates a multi-dimensional and naturally accurate look that’s engineered to stay vibrant.

The project features a pair of modern residential duplexes with a landscaped courtyard in between. Each building contains a ground floor studio/workspace and a two-bedroom dwelling unit above, totaling four dwelling units in about 3,000 square feet of living space. The Prospect provides superior quality in rental housing via thoughtfully planned layouts, elegant interiors crafted from simple materials, and living-level access to outdoor amenity space.
Broswick Builders Ltd
Located in a quiet Grey Lynn St, the original cold, dark, damp villa was in need of restoration and extension to provide for a growing young family that reflected their family and friend focused lifestyle.
Following a full restoration of the existing exterior and interior of the existing weatherboard clad villa, Matz Architects proposed a 3 level cedar clad extension that peaks out from the eastern side and above the ridgeline of the villa.
Contrasts in materials and finishes are deliberately used throughout as you pass from historic to modern, to aid a recognition of the past and a reflection of the future.

This is a complex, three level split high spec architectural house on a very steep site with tight constraints including geotechnical and structural issues. Clients have been caught out with a leaky home in the past and have gone for an absolute weather tight solution utilising steel framing and Hebel Flooring.

In this close up view of the side of the house, you get an even better idea of the previously mentioned paint scheme. The fence shows the home’s former color, a light brown. The new exterior paint colors dramatically show how the right color change can add a wonderful fresh feel to a house.

When this non-descript three-story brick row house was purchased by the client, it was stripped completely bare. The owner sought to add additional space, which was achieved by extending the rear of the home by a full 16 feet on the parlor, second and third levels. This not only provided roomier living spaces indoors, it created the opportunity to outfit each reconfigured floor with identical balconies. These outcroppings, finished with matte black railings and full NanaWall folding glass doors, provide the ideal outdoor space for relaxing and entertaining, while creating a harmonious uniformity to the rear façade.
