Renovation of an old barn into a personal office space. This project, located on a 37-acre family farm in Pennsylvania, arose from the need for a personal workspace away from the hustle and bustle of the main house. An old barn used for gardening storage provided the ideal opportunity to convert it into a personal workspace. The small 1250 s.f. building consists of a main work and meeting area as well as the addition of a kitchen and a bathroom with sauna. The architects decided to preserve and restore the original stone construction and highlight it both inside and out in order to gain approval from the local authorities under a strict code for the reuse of historic structures. The poor state of preservation of the original timber structure presented the design team with the opportunity to reconstruct the roof using three large timber frames, produced by craftsmen from the Amish community. Following local craft techniques, the truss joints were achieved using wood dowels without adhesives and the stone walls were laid without the use of apparent mortar. The new roof, covered with cedar shingles, projects beyond the original footprint of the building to create two porches. One frames the main entrance and the other protects a generous outdoor living space on the south side. New wood trusses are left exposed and emphasized with indirect lighting design. The walls of the short facades were opened up to create large windows and bring the expansive views of the forest and neighboring creek into the space. The palette of interior finishes is simple and forceful, limited to the use of wood, stone and glass. The furniture design, including the suspended fireplace, integrates with the architecture and complements it through the judicious use of natural fibers and textiles. The result is a contemporary and timeless architectural work that will coexist harmoniously with the traditional buildings in its surroundings, protected in perpetuity for their historical heritage value.

Dem Verlauf der Sonne folgend ist das Haus in drei Himmelsrichtungen verglast, vollkommen offen und doch schützend durch die hohe Rückwand und das weit auskragende Dach. Innen- und Außenraum gehen ineinander über. Die knappen Raumabmessungen fühlen sich in der Nutzung großzügig an durch die geschickte funktionale Gliederung. Die geringe Nutzfläche von 60 Quadratmetern relativiert sich durch großflächige Verglasungen zur umlaufenden Terrasse, kleine, leichte Möbel und die Wandelbarkeit der Einbauten, die sich wie das Haus vergrößern und verkleinern lassen. Breite Schiebetüren weiten im Sommer den Raum bis in die Natur – Freiheit und Leichtigkeit prägen das Lebensgefühl. 2007 Kortrejt Die großen, bislang ungenutzten Flachdächer mitten in den Städten zu erschließen, ist der Grundgedanke, auf dem die Idee des Loftcube basiert. Der Berliner Designer Werner Aisslinger will mit leichten, mobilen Wohneinheiten diesen neuen, sonnigen Lebensraum im großen Stil eröffnen und vermarkten. Nach zweijährigen Vorarbeiten präsentierten die Planer im Jahr 2003 den Prototypen ihrer modularen Wohneinheiten auf dem Flachdach des Universal Music Gebäudes in Berlin. Der Loftcube besteht aus einem Tragwerk mit aufgesteckten Fassadenelementen und einem variablen inneren Ausbausystem. Schneller als ein ein Fertighaus ist er innerhalb von 2-3 Tagen inklusive Innenausbau komplett aufgestellt. Zudem lässt sich der Loftcube in der gleichen Zeit auch wieder abbauen und an einen anderen Ort transportieren. Der Loftcube bietet bei Innenabmessungen von 6,25 x 6,25 m etwa 39 m2 Wohnfläche. Die nächst größere Einheit bietet bei rechteckigem Grundriss eine Raumgröße von 55 m2. Ausgehend von diesen Grundmodulen können - durch Brücken miteinander verbundener Einzelelemente - ganze Wohnlandschaften errichtet werden. Je nach Anforderung kann so die Wohnfläche im Laufe der Zeit den Bedürfnissen der Nutzer immer wieder angepasst werden. Cette maison contemporaine de 200m2 est située dans un lotissement Choletais.Les volumes simples et architecturés donnent du caractère à cette habitation. La couleur de teintes ocre sur les volumes latéraux sont un clin d’œil à la brique locale et contribuent à élancer le corps de bâtiment.

L’idea del cliente era di sviluppare una casa in legno su un terreno di sua proprietà che si sviluppasse interamente su un piano e potesse saturare la capacità massima edificatoria disponibile. Il risultato è stato questa abitazione articolata su un unico livello che permette di avere al proprio interno tutto il necessario: ampio soggiorno-cucina open space, due bagni, tre camere, un ripostiglio e un vano tecnico. Un edificio pratico, funzionale e compatto, che garantisce una ottima fruibilità degli spazi interni e una facile interazione con quelli esterni. Questa casa in legno sviluppata su un unico piano presenta serramenti in legno sbiancati con triplo vetro e scuri esterni in okoumè laccati, lattonerie in lamiera e manto di copertura in tegole piane, con la perfetta integrazione di un impianto fotovoltaico a copertura dei minimi consumi domestici. L’impianto di riscaldamento a pavimento con pompa di calore, permette di massimizzare il risparmio energetico, lavorando a basse temperature, e utilizzando gran parte dell’energia autoprodotta dal fotovoltaico. Inoltre, la quota di energia non utilizzata viene venduta in rete e viene pagata dal GSE. Vivere in una casa senza la preoccupazione delle bollette.
