Regarding flooring, wood flooring in a bathroom is a beautiful option, there are just a few precautions to take with this option.
1) Apply extra layers of oil-based polyurethane, and fill the cracks between the boards with wood putty to prevent water from seeping in.
2) Install a highly efficient vent/fan to minimize humidity, and thus protect the wood floors.
3) Place rugs in high risk areas (i.e. in front of the bathtub, shower, and sink)
4) Take preventative measures and fix all problems as they arise with regards to plumbing issues. Clogged toilets, condensation on toilet feed pipes, etc. could be damaging to wooden flooring in the bathroom.
5) Always dry any puddles from the wood rather than letting them sit.
