This lovely Regency building is in a magnificent setting with fabulous sea views. The Regents were influenced by Classical Greece as well as cultures from further afield including China, India and Egypt. Our brief was to preserve and cherish the original elements of the building, while making a feature of our client’s impressive art collection. Where items are fixed (such as the kitchen and bathrooms) we used traditional styles that are sympathetic to the Regency era. Where items are freestanding or easy to move, then we used contemporary furniture & fittings that complemented the artwork. The colours from the artwork inspired us to create a flow from one room to the next and each room was carefully considered for its’ use and it’s aspect. We commissioned some incredibly talented artisans to create bespoke mosaics, furniture and ceramic features which all made an amazing contribution to the building’s narrative. At the end of a long large great room we needed to fill the space but without obstructing the walkway. This oversized cabinet with large round mirror and oversized lamps filled the space well. We added the tall finials to help take your eye up to the beautiful crown molding and high ceiling.

In this Trance you can hear the Sounds of Clinking Glasses celebrating a Birthday Celebration, The Laughter of Friends preparing to leave for an Opening Night at the Theater, the soft hush of a night cap toast as you savor in the city lights below before you dream some more, only to wake to the smells of Omelette's and French Toast waiting on White Porcelain with Crisp Linen Napkins all set beside the Mountain of the Sunday New York Times in the Shadow of a Blue Hydrangea arrangement. The Day and The City awaits you, but you cocoon yourself in the envelope you are savoring, You reach for the Times, or the New Yorker, and curl in, with Cole Porter or Leonard Bernstein wafting through the aerie of peace, as you gaze out the window... Central Park fills with Leaves, People, Rain, or even a Gentle Snow. This is Central Park West. This is: An Experience. Not a Residence.
