A newly renovated terrace in St Peters needed the final touches to really make this house a home, and one that was representative of it’s colourful owner. This very energetic and enthusiastic client definitely made the project one to remember. With a big brief to highlight the clients love for fashion, a key feature throughout was her personal ‘rock’ style. Pops of ‘rock' are found throughout and feature heavily in the luxe living areas with an entire wall designated to the clients icons including a lovely photograph of the her parents. The clients love for original vintage elements made it easy to style the home incorporating many of her own pieces. A custom vinyl storage unit finished with a Carrara marble top to match the new coffee tables, side tables and feature Tom Dixon bedside sconces, specifically designed to suit an ongoing vinyl collection. Along with clever storage solutions, making sure the small terrace house could accommodate her large family gatherings was high on the agenda. We created beautifully luxe details to sit amongst her items inherited which held strong sentimental value, all whilst providing smart storage solutions to house her curated collections of clothes, shoes and jewellery. Custom joinery was introduced throughout the home including bespoke bed heads finished in luxurious velvet and an excessive banquette wrapped in white Italian leather. This two story living room was completely transformed when we removed the existing large bolder/stone fireplace & replaced with a custom designed millwork fireplace with Quatrefoil relief detail. A bespoke coffee table anchors the space on top of a Meredith Heron Design Collection Water Buffalo Hide Rug. The chairs were custom made for the client and to fit the room. It is a family friendly entertaining space.

Duck-egg and pale blue living room scheme - a large sofa along the back wall (to the right of the shot) in a soft pale blue linen. This London townhouse benefits from beautiful original mouldings around the high ceilings, and a stunning marble fireplace surround. We modernised the room a little by fitting sisal herringbone carpet; keeping it both fresh and a bit more casual. Styling the bookcases was such a part of decorating this room, as was choosing all the fun but soft fabrics; including all the cushions on that sofa. I love this little antique desk and chair in the desk space between the two high sash windows. We covered the desk chair's seat in a Romo linen (the same as one of the sofas) - in a pale dusty blue colour. The curtains are more duck-egg green in colour, and such a fun but soft pattern. The celadon gourd lamp ties it all together. I also love a bit of embroidery in my fabrics, which we get with that cushion you can see on the armchair.

Also part of the original 1930's construction, the front door opens directly into this living room. Flanked by a side-entry staircase and open in enfilade to the dining and side halls, we wanted to honor this room's traditional roots while creating a stylish, welcoming space that welcomes you into the home. The dated surround was replaced with a custom bluestone slab, plantations shutters were installed for a tailored look, and a mix of the homeowner's original furnishings and art were installed in equal measure with custom-selected items.

A real estate agent turned to interior designer Dane Austin to imbue his new abode with character and beauty. Throughout the home Austin implemented pops of character and texture. "I'm kind of terrified of color but Dane did a really good job using it in a way I felt comfortable with," says the owner, who is happy with the results of Austin's labors. "I have an elevator entrance, so people walk right into the apartment. They're always surprised -- it's a really soothing space." Project designed by Boston interior design studio Dane Austin Design.
