For this young family, their existing space wasn’t working for their lifestyle. Besides the aesthetics, they felt the kitchen wasn’t living up to its full potential. A list of their wants/needs included an open, sleek design that allowed their three children to eat at the island and have a place at a nearby desk to complete homework or watch television while dinner was being prepared. With the family’s main traffic area leading directly from the garage into the kitchen, it was critical to consider a place for the kids to place their schoolwork, sports equipment, art supplies and even bring in groceries. With all of that in mind, we added lockers for each child right at the garage entry, with the idea that the cabinets could be transitioned into additional pantry storage as the family matures. With the new open space, we were able to update the room using dark and light grays, on the cabinetry and walls. Combining the elegance of traditional design with the fresh and refined look of contemporary style trends, we mixed natural wood and stone and dark oak flooring with the contemporary look of paneled cabinetry, stainless steel appliances, sleek hardware, and a glass and marble tile backsplash. By mixing these materials the home’s traditional heritage is kept intact, but the young tech savvy family now has a fantastic space where they can gather for family meals and entertainment. The glass wall cabinets between the built in coffee maker and the refrigerator become a visual flare to the beverage service area. The decorative glass cabinets flanking the cooktop hood bring light and drama to the space. The entrance to the mudroom & pantry is tuck behind the double ovens.

This beautiful in-place kitchen remodel is a transformation from dated 90’s to timeless syle! Away are the oak cabinets and large paneled fluorescent ceiling lights and in its place is a functional, clean lined kitchen design with character. The existing oak flooring provides the perfect opportunity to pair warm and cool colors with edgy polished chrome fixtures and hardware which speaks to the client’s charm! We used the classic shaker style in Waypoint’s cherry slate stained cabinet giving the space an updated profile with classic stain. The refrigerator wall functions as an appliance station with the ability to tuck appliances and all things bulky in the appliance garages keeping the countertops free. By tucking the microwave into a reconfigured island, a kitchen hood provides the perfect focal point of the space paired with a beautiful gas range. A penny round blend of cool and warm tones is the perfect accent to the natural stone backsplash. The peninsula was extended to provide a space next to the sink for a trash/recycle cabinet and allows for a large, single basin granite sink. By switching the orientation of the island, the eating nook’s table now can extend into the space adding more seating without awkward flow and close proximity to the island. The smaller island houses the microwave and drawer cabinets allowing for a more functional space with countertop space. The stunning Cambria Britannica quartz countertops round out the design by creating visual movement with a classic nod to traditional style. This design is the perfect mix of edgy sass with traditional flair, and I know our client will be enjoying her dream kitchen for years to come!

This gray and transitional kitchen remodel bridges the gap between contemporary style and traditional style. The dark gray cabinetry, light gray walls, and white subway tile backsplash make for a beautiful, neutral canvas for the bold teal blue and yellow décor accented throughout the design. Designer Gwen Adair of Cabinet Supreme by Adair did a fabulous job at using grays to create a neutral backdrop to bring out the bright, vibrant colors that the homeowners love so much. This Milwaukee, WI kitchen is the perfect example of Dura Supreme's recent launch of gray paint finishes, it has been interesting to see these new cabinetry colors suddenly flowing across our manufacturing floor, destined for homes around the country. High contrast, simple lines and rich texture bring this small kitchen together in style. The Langlade door style by Northern Classic Cabinetry is a nice craftsman style cabinet door with a 45 degree bevel which allows for easy cleaning. The cabinets are loaded with upgrades- solid wood dovetail drawers with full extension glides and soft-close feature, a lazy bill, two tiered wood cutlery tray, double waste recycle cabinet, lazy susan, tip out sink front, deep pots and pan drawers and roll out trays. Corian Witch Hazel was used for the countertops and the window sill which also makes cleaning and maintenance a breeze. The beauty of using Corian is the seamlessness- the integral kitchen sink is seamless- no gunk building up around any edges. The small peninsula offers seating for 2- perfect for breakfast. For this client we looked at a number of designs to help them decide whether to extend or not. In the end they decided to open up the ground floor. We widened the patio doors, took down all the internal walls and created an open plan kitchen/dining/living space that the client loves.
