Lost Creek Kitchen and Bathroom Remodel

BANDD DESIGN

A large island, soft colors, and modern interiors were used to give this Austin kitchen a contemporary update. We created a more usable layout and improved functionality by adding custom cabinetry, charging drawers, wall-mounted shelves, and an appliance garage. Modern pendant lights, double bowl hammered copper apron kitchen sink, geometric glass chandelier, and black rattan kitchen chairs add sophistication to the kitchen. After the kitchen, our Austin studio worked on this client’s bathroom remodeling project to design a modern, bright, and polished space. We started with a light, soothing color palette and two large mirrors to create an open, airy vibe. Modern sconces and striking lighting add a sophisticated touch. Masterpiece Retreat: The Master Bathroom The master bathroom embodies the epitome of tranquility. Luxe gold fixtures complement the double vanity mirrors, trimmed in a warm Gilded" finish, their elongated rectangular shapes softened by rounded edges. The vanity, painted in a “Slate" hue, offers ample storage and features two undermount sinks atop a Polarstone Pure Opal countertop. Materika sand matte floor tiles provide a soothing foundation, while Dolomite shower walls and a Starphire glass half shower door create a seamless, light-filled space.

We gave this dated and choppy bathroom an open layout with classic timeless design with marble-look tile and chrome fixtures. The clawfoot tub with a gooseneck spout replaced their dated jacuzzi corner tub. We removed a wall and installed a pocket door to maximize the space and give them a larger shower. We incorporated plenty of storage with a double vanity and two tall towers to fit their laundry hampers. The bathroom is about a sequence of spaces. To the left in this shot is the door to the master bedroom, and to the right is the door to the "hers" walk-in closet. Ahead is the shower for 2 with a built-in bench out of the same quartzite used consistently around the room. "His" closet is straight ahead and a bank of tall linen cabinets in matching SieMatic sterling gray holds all the linens. The clients worked closely with both interior designer Gay Dyar Shorr and bath designer Matthew Rao and with their own stone resources locally to pull off a symphony of materiality in a rich but simple way.

This bathroom, was the result of removing a center wall, two closets, two bathrooms, and reconfiguring part of a guest bedroom space to accommodate, a new powder room, a home office, one larger closet, and one very nice sized bathroom with a skylight and a wet room. The skylight adds so much ambiance and light to a windowless room. I love the way it illuminates this space, even at night the moonlight flows in.... I placed these fun little pendants in a dancing pose for a bit of whimsy and to echo the playfulness of the sink. We went with a herringbone tile on the walls and a modern leaf mosaic on the floor.

Bedwardine Road is our epic renovation and extension of a vast Victorian villa in Crystal Palace, south-east London. Traditional architectural details such as flat brick arches and a denticulated brickwork entablature on the rear elevation counterbalance a kitchen that feels like a New York loft, complete with a polished concrete floor, underfloor heating and floor to ceiling Crittall windows. We reused the existing vanity, shower fixtures, faucets, and toilet that were all in good condition. We incorporated a beautiful blue blended tile as an accent wall to pop against the rest of the neutral tiles. Lastly, we added a shower bench and a sliding glass shower door giving this client the coastal bathroom of their dreams.

トランジショナルスタイルの浴室リフォームのデザイン、レイアウト、費用

浴室リフォームの技法には大きく分けて「在来工法」と「ユニットバス (システムバス)」の2通りがあります。

在来工法：「在来工法」とは、壁、床、窓枠、浴槽などを実際の現場で左官、大工、タイル職人等が作り上げていく技法で、浴室の大きさや形に合わせて自由にレイアウトをデザインできたり、趣のあるタイルで壁を演出することができたりといった点が利点と言えます。昔ながらのこの技法には、費用が高い、工期が長い、年数が経つと水漏れの心配がある、などの注意点があります。
ユニットバス（システムバス）：比較的新しいこの技法は、予め工場で生産されたパーツ (壁、バスタブ、シャワーユニットなど) を現場で組み立てていく技法で、防水性、断熱性に優れ、工期を短縮できるだけでなく、費用も大幅に抑えることができます。在来工法と比べると、デザインやレイアウトの自由度が低い点が欠点としてあげられます。

浴室にプラスアルファでお風呂タイムをもっと楽しく

介護が必要な方には、浴室に浴槽手すりやシャワーチェア、すべり止めマットなどの安全グッズを使って、癒やしの時間を安全にゆっくりと楽しんでもらいましょう。浴室に床暖房を取り入れると、冬場のあのヒンヤリ感がなくなり、ヒートショックの防止に効果が期待できます。大粒のお湯が頭上から降り注ぐように全身を包み込むレインシャワー水栓は、効率的に身体を温めてくれます。また最近では、浴室テレビを装備して、あたたかいお湯に浸かりながらテレビ番組や映画を楽しむ方も増えています。ライフスタイルにあわせて、浴室をカスタマイズしてみてはいかがでしょうか？

ラクラク片付け、快適な浴室！

シャンプーやコンディショナーのボトルや、浴槽洗いのブラシは、ワイヤーラック、つっぱりコーナーラック、吸盤シェルフなど壁面収納グッズを活用して、浴室の使いやすい場所に設置しましょう。ボディスポンジなど、肌に触れるものはお掃除グッズから離れた場所に置き、しっかり水切りができるよう吸盤フックなどにかけるといいでしょう。また、浴室内には必要なアイテムだけをセレクトして置き、余分なモノは浴室外の脱衣所の棚に保管するなどの工夫も、お風呂場を清潔に保つコツです。風呂ふたも、フックやスタンド等を使って収納し、しっかり乾燥させれば、カビやぬめりの発生を防ぐことができます。

ホテルのようなバスルームをつくるコツ

ホテルライクなバスルームに誰しもが憧れたことがあるでしょう。すっきりとした収納、余計なものやプライベート感がない、トイレとバスが一緒の三点ユニットでも清潔感があるのがホテルのバスルームの特徴です。このようなシンプルな印象のバスルームにするコツは、収納をできるかぎり1カ所にまとめるということです。タオルや着替え、トイレットペーパーや洗剤など溢れがち (しかもバスルームに置きがち) な日用品のストックは、必要分だけをコンパクトに整理して、同素材や同系色の収納ボックスやラックにまとめることで、全体を統一感ある印象に見せます。ところで、このようなホテルライクなバスルームはアメリカのバスルームが元になっていますが、アメリカの Houzz サイトの特集記事 (Story) には、“Bathroom 1 1/2” や “Bathroom 3/4” などと表記されているものがあります。これは、バスルームを「バスタブ」、「シャワー」、「トイレ」、「洗面台」の4つ分けて、それぞれ 1/4 と考え、4つすべてある場合は ”Bathroom 1”、それに加えてトイレと洗面台がもう1カ所ずつある場合は “Bathroom 1 1/2”、シャワー、トイレ、洗面台だけでバスタブがない場合は “Bathroom 3/4” のように表現されます。
