This 1902 San Antonio home was beautiful both inside and out, except for the kitchen, which was dark and dated. The original kitchen layout consisted of a breakfast room and a small kitchen separated by a wall. There was also a very small screened in porch off of the kitchen. The homeowners dreamed of a light and bright new kitchen and that would accommodate a 48" gas range, built in refrigerator, an island and a walk in pantry. At first, it seemed almost impossible, but with a little imagination, we were able to give them every item on their wish list. We took down the wall separating the breakfast and kitchen areas, recessed the new Subzero refrigerator under the stairs, and turned the tiny screened porch into a walk in pantry with a gorgeous blue and white tile floor. The french doors in the breakfast area were replaced with a single transom door to mirror the door to the pantry. The new transoms make quite a statement on either side of the 48" Wolf range set against a marble tile wall. A lovely banquette area was created where the old breakfast table once was and is now graced by a lovely beaded chandelier. Pillows in shades of blue and white and a custom walnut table complete the cozy nook. The soapstone island with a walnut butcher block seating area adds warmth and character to the space. The navy barstools with chrome nailhead trim echo the design of the transoms and repeat the navy and chrome detailing on the custom range hood. A 42" Shaws farmhouse sink completes the kitchen work triangle. Off of the kitchen, the small hallway to the dining room got a facelift, as well. We added a decorative china cabinet and mirrored doors to the homeowner's storage closet to provide light and character to the passageway. After the project was completed, the homeowners told us that "this kitchen was the one that our historic house was always meant to have." There is no greater reward for what we do than that.

A long wall of full height custom cabinetry and appliances pack a functional punch for this kitchen, allowing the opposite wall to be upper cabinet free.

Elements of this kitchen I love are - the sumptuous colour of the Obsidian green paint against the brass fittings. The high Dekton Aura backsplash with shelf. The Art Deco light fittings. And obviously the bespoke furniture. This is a gorgeous space!

This Caulfield South kitchen features a Calacatta Caesarstone benchtop and French Oak flooring. Paired with a gloss-white tiled splashback and brushed brass fixtures, this kitchen embodies elegance and style. The generous sized island bench is the anchor point of the free flowing kitchen. The joinery details were designed and skilfully crafted to match the existing architecture on the hallways doors, paying homage to the grandeur of the home. With multiple access points, the kitchen seamlessly connects with an open living space, creating an entertaining hub at the heart of the home.

A two-tiered island anchors the center of this gourmet kitchen and provides seating for guests to visit with the cooks. And who doesn't love a window over a sink?

This cabinet column could be used also be used as a small pantry. It features pocket doors to store a coffee station and small microwave, mugs and coffee accessories. This cabinetry features a Shaker style door with "eagle rock" stain on maple; the countertop is honed, absolute black granite. The "ash gray" cabinet pulls are from Top Knobs. The backsplash is a white 2 x 8.5 inch field tile by Market Collection.

2019 -- Complete re-design and re-build of this 1,600 square foot home including a brand new 600 square foot Guest House located in the Willow Glen neighborhood of San Jose, CA.

Built in 1860 we designed this kitchen to have the conveniences of modern life with a sense of having it feel like it could be the original kitchen. White oak with clear coated herringbone oak floor and stained white oak cabinetry deliver the two tone feel.

A wonderful farmhouse style kitchen by Balnei & Colina. The kitchen layout was changed and we maximised the available space by adding butlers pantry to the rear, concealed behind a shaker style bi-fold. A large central island provides additional work space and a place for the family to gather for casual meals. This active family purchased their home and began remodeling before moving in. The out-dated kitchen had oak cabinets and 4" orange tile on the countertops that had to go! (see before photos) It was replaced with a light and bright eat in kitchen. The expansive island provides ample counter space not only for baking and eating, but homework and crafts. Cabinetry with convenient access to blind corners, thoughtful layout for function and storage created a kitchen that is truly the heart of their home. The laundry room is clean and fresh with larger cabinets and a relocated laundry sink under the window. The family room fireplace was also updated with new surround and custom bookcases.
