We transformed a Georgian brick two-story built in 1998 into an elegant, yet comfortable home for an active family that includes children and dogs. Although this Dallas home’s traditional bones were intact, the interior dark stained molding, paint, and distressed cabinetry, along with dated bathrooms and kitchen were in desperate need of an overhaul. We honored the client’s European background by using time-tested marble mosaics, slabs and countertops, and vintage style plumbing fixtures throughout the kitchen and bathrooms. We balanced these traditional elements with metallic and unique patterned wallpapers, transitional light fixtures and clean-lined furniture frames to give the home excitement while maintaining a graceful and inviting presence. We used nickel lighting and plumbing finishes throughout the home to give regal punctuation to each room. The intentional, detailed styling in this home is evident in that each room boasts its own character while remaining cohesive overall.

This is a library we built last year that became a centerpiece feature in "The Classical American House" book by Phillip James Dodd. We are also featured on the back cover. Asked to replicate and finish to match with new materials, we built this 16' high room using only the original Gothic arches that were existing. All other materials are new and finished to match. This 2 story home with a first floor Master Bedroom features a tumbled stone exterior with iron ore windows and modern tudor style accents. The Great Room features a wall of built-ins with antique glass cabinet doors that flank the fireplace and a coffered beamed ceiling. The adjacent Kitchen features a large walnut topped island which sets the tone for the gourmet kitchen. There are so many kid friendly fabrics out there. I used Sunbrella here...can't tell can you? It feels amazing. I also made sure that there was a space for the girls' doll house. The leather storage ottoman is their toy box as well. The shutters have fabric on the louvers; gives the softness and color that we need but is parrot and cat friendly.
