The Board & Vellum team is simply the best! Amazing team start to finish. We did a whole-house renovation and Jeff and his team maximized every single inch of our new floor plan. I got literally every single item on my "wish-list" from a walk-in closet to a secret book-case door to our new home office. Everyone was very responsive to our million questions. From start to finish, the team at Board and Vellum were superb to work with. It was a whole house project, and B&V helped us realize the potential of every square foot of the home. They worked well with our contractor and allowed us to be an active participant in the process. We were able to update the home and still honor it's mid-century roots and we couldnt be happier with the final project!

We had a rather complicated and drawn-out design process with our home, due to some significant family medical issues. This resulted in several "starts & stops" over a 3-year period. Lance & Todd were so accommodating to our timing/needs, and were able to pick up with our project when we were ready to re-engage. We loved working with them and they were really able to understand our design needs for our home.

I cannot recommend Jeff and his team highly enough! Their collaboration and creativity are exceptional. But more than that, they are simply great partners. They truly listen to their clients. They are adaptible, flexible, and want nothing more than the best for the homeowners and developers they work with. I have worked with B&V on several projects, utilizing their architectural, interior design, and landscaping teams. You'd be hard pressed to find any other firm that delivers the kind of work that does nothing less than take your breath away.

I had a truly fantastic experience working with Board & Vellum on a kitchen remodel! I worked with Marissa and Robert and they were wonderful at every step. They listened to what I wanted, and I felt they really understood my style and preferences, but also provided a lot of guidance and steered me away from bad decisions. Marissa suggested elements that I wouldn't have thought of on my own that I really ended up liking. They had a strong sense of the time line and work flow and when I told them the date I needed the project completed, they did a great job of working backwards and figuring out how long each step would take and making sure we were staying on track. This is the first time I've done a remodel and I was worried that it would be hard to work separately with a contractor after we finished the design component, but I was really impressed with how seamless Board & Vellum made the process. They helped me find an excellent contractor who could complete the job by our target date and they communicated continuously with me and the contractor throughout the build process. They responded quickly throughout the process whenever questions or concerns came up. At one (or more) points during the construction, I went through a moment of major doubt that we had made the wrong decisions and I started suggesting changes we could make. I totally appreciate Marissa's calm reassurance and confidence to stay the course and wait to see how things turned out before we started changing things, and she was right! The kitchen came out beautifully, even better than I hoped. Many of my friends who have been through remodels of their own couldn't believe how quickly this job was finished, without any delays. It was a great team and I'm so glad to have worked with them!

Board & Vellum was a delight to work with. Jeff Pelletier (the Owner) gave architectural advice and help while we were in the house buying phase, and then after purchase, completed an intake process to route us the right way, and our project was delegated to the stellar Derek Reeves for landscape design and architecture assistance, and some other team members (Marissa, Hailey, Zack - perhaps some others I am forgetting) for various interior customizations and advice. From the first visit – we “clicked” with Derek – he was the expert we badly needed. For our interior minor remodel - Board and Vellum from the get go – saw spatial solutions where we only saw problems. The built-in Derek and his team did in our entryway completely resolved what I previously hated about our kitchen. The laundry closet he customized for us gave us the classic “you are officially middle aged” bragging rights of a rockin’ laundry set up. Demolishing our upstairs wall transformed that space. We could not be happier with those changes. And that’s not even Derek's area of focus! We live in the house, so of course notice those the most – but let me be clear that his landscape design is spectacular. Where we started was frankly – not ideal – and people rave about our yard and plants when they come over now. WAY nicer than we ever could have come up with ourselves. From the perfect small city deck, to the completely custom shed, to a front entrance feeling in what was previously the alleyway, to the clever plant camouflage of terribly-built wall, to the various blooming times of the plants, the design is perfection. We could not be happier. And to top it all off – Derek basically managed both contractors for us. With both the internal and external work, he helped us with so many of the key decisions, ground-truthed the quotes and change orders, provided insights and referrals and alternate ideas, gave advice – talked me off the ledge multiple times when I had last minute changes of heart…. My husband and I had an entire period of time when we came to trust him so much that whenever we talked about anything for the house, we would always end up saying “well – let’s see what Derek thinks” before we decided. When our second contractor started flaking, Derek was great at weighing in strategically and with authority – and you could feel them respond much more quickly – not wanting lose future business with this firm. In their scheme of things our project was small - but we always felt cared for, heard and responded to. The team was almost unfairly reachable and covered for each other well over vacations or illnesses. WE ARE SO GRATEFUL for the help - and are thrilled to have worked with Board and Vellum. I recommend them without hesitation - they listen!

We recently completed a whole house remodel with Board & Vellum and could not be happier. Although our house is modern(ish), I love that they have an appreciation for old houses and vintage styles, not just modern. Jeff & Patrick listened to us every step of the way and helped us to make our house fit our family's needs perfectly. Ours was a big job and we were total renovation rookies, but they guided us through it and were calming and reasonable through the inevitable hiccups. They were respectful, never making us feel bad if we needed to find a less expensive solution to a given problem. And they were just genuinely nice people who were fun to work with.

Everyone at Board and Vellum was a dream to work with. We employed their architecture and design services and obtained our own contractors. Our project involved re-configuring the main floor of our 1904 craftsman, including a focus on restoration to remove changes that had been made over the years; we removed: dropped ceilings, 7 layers of flooring down to the original firs, an added storage room that was separating the house from access to the back deck, an interior wall and exterior front door that had been added so that it could serve as a duplex at one time, and 4 interior doorways (some of which we opened up, and others moved to a new pocket hallway). The design team listened carefully to understand our vision, and their recommendations were spot on. B&V clearly has a lot of experience working with the older craftsman homes that are ubiquitous in the Seattle area, and it showed: they anticipated multiple "surprises" that the contractor would find in the demolition phase, saving us time and cost compared to dealing with workarounds when the issues arose, plus providing us with options like exposed brick that we wouldn't have known was a possibility. Photos are of just one of the five rooms that were each similarly transformed. They include some "before" and "90% complete" (i.e. missing some trim, etc.) images.

Our Board & Vellum team (Hailey and Leslie) were top notch from beginning to end. They gave us fantastic options, listened to our desires, and incorporated details beautifully. Their concepts are creative and their follow-through and responsiveness are exceptional.

I highly recommend the team at Board and Vellum. Everyone we worked with was a joy to work with - friendly, amazingly talented, and extremely dedicated to us and our project. From the time we had our initial consultation in September 2016 to final project completion in September 2018, the team was with us every step of the way, and everyone felt more like friends throughout the project. Our project was a “to the studs” interior and exterior remodel of a 5000sf, 1982 NW Seattle house with a phenomenal water view. We purchased the house knowing we would do some work to it, but one thing led to another, and we ended up gutting the house. The full scope of work of our project included: * Reconfigure first floor to relocate kitchen to center of house / optimize view, add large folding exterior La Cantina doors, add laundry/mud room * High-end redesign of kitchen (Miele / Sub-Zero / True appliances) * Reconfigure second floor master suite and add a second laundry room upstairs * Addition of two wet bars (wine fridge / beverage center / freezer / ice maker) * Opening up interior stairwell from basement to second floor * Replacement of all windows, doors, and garage doors * Replacement of all exterior siding, gutters, and painting * Replacement of two exterior decks and stairs * Replacement of all interior systems (electrical, plumbing, gas, mechanical) * Full cosmetic refinish of entire house including replacement of drywall, tile, hardwood flooring, fixtures, paint, etc (i.e. “to the studs”), installation of gas fireplaces Our core project team was Matthew (project lead/architect), Hayley (architect), Marissa (interior designer), and Leslie (landscape architect). Everything, from the initial consultation, schematic design, contractor selection, construction documents, permitting, and construction observation, was top notch. We had never undertaken any project of this magnitude, and it was reassuring having this group of professionals throughout the project. The things I appreciated most about working with our team at Board and Vellum included: * Good people - it’s clear that Jeff (owner) cares about a quality work environment, and that is reflected in the people he hires, how skilled they are, and how well they get along. I looked forward to our weekly project meetings in part because of how well we got along with everyone on the team * Quality of work - throughout the entire process, it was clear that everyone was skilled at what they did, had excellent attention to detail, and were obsessed with creating a beautiful home * Client Obsession - each person on the team had their own design opinions throughout the project, but were more focused on ensuring that our needs were met, as opposed to creating a design that you didn’t want * Communication and Project Management - we had an equally great relationship with our general contractor (Proform Construction - who Board and Vellum helped us select), but there were many small and large decisions and the inevitable hiccups along the project that Matthew and team were great at navigating. They were obsessed with keeping the project moving smoothly to avoid unnecessary delays or construction issues The end result is an amazingly beautiful house that is the envy of our friends and family who have visited, and one that we hope to raise our family in for the next 20 years. We’d highly recommend Board and Vellum to any of our friends who are doing any type of house construction or remodeling, particularly high-end, full-service residential remodeling. We have a modest list of “Phase 2” enhancements that we have in mind (once our finances recover…) including more extensive landscaping and interior design, and we plan to continue working with Board and Vellum for this and any other future work we have.

Just a fantastic group of people. Working with Jeff (head architect), Sara (our architect), and Leslie (landscape architect) was a joy. They are committed to their clients vision and happiness first and foremost, they do great work, have great ideas and suggestions, and helped usher our project to completion just as we had dreamed. Of all the contractors and service people we hired as part of our very large, 2+ year project, they were our favorites. Highly recommended!
