We remodeled this lovely 5 bedroom, 4 bathroom, 3,300 sq. home in Arcadia. This beautiful home was built in the 1990s and has gone through various remodeling phases over the years. We now gave this home a unified new fresh modern look with a cozy feeling. We reconfigured several parts of the home according to our client’s preference. The entire house got a brand net of state-of-the-art Milgard windows. On the first floor, we remodeled the main staircase of the home, demolishing the wet bar and old staircase flooring and railing. The fireplace in the living room receives brand new classic marble tiles. We removed and demolished all of the roman columns that were placed in several parts of the home. The entire first floor, approximately 1,300 sq of the home, received brand new white oak luxury flooring. The dining room has a brand new custom chandelier and a beautiful geometric wallpaper with shiny accents. We reconfigured the main 17-staircase of the home by demolishing the old wooden staircase with a new one. The new 17-staircase has a custom closet, white oak flooring, and beige carpet, with black ½ contemporary iron balusters. We also create a brand new closet in the landing hall of the second floor. On the second floor, we remodeled 4 bedrooms by installing new carpets, windows, and custom closets. We remodeled 3 bathrooms with new tiles, flooring, shower stalls, countertops, and vanity mirrors. The master bathroom has a brand new freestanding tub, a shower stall with new tiles, a beautiful modern vanity, and stone flooring tiles. We also installed built a custom walk-in closet with new shelves, drawers, racks, and cubbies. Each room received a brand new fresh coat of paint.

As they say the Devil is in the detail. This bespoke staircase has textured oak walls, laser cut grills on an Art Deco style, with Victorian style medium relief tiles and industrial threads that are light up in the evening automatically just work. Who would have said? This is thanks to the planning stages where the plan comes together.

San Francisco loft contemporary circular staircase and custom bookcase wraps around in high-gloss orange paint inside the shelving, with white reflective patterned decorated surface facing the living area. An orange display niche on the left white wall matches the orange on the bookcase behind silver stair railings.

This basement staircase received a warm, rustic touch thanks to our distressed wood planks in the color Brown-Ish. These real, distressed wood planks are made from new, sustainably sourced wood and are easily affixed to any wall or surface. The curved wall was no problem for these panels! Our distressed wood planks were also used on the wall in their wine room behind their hanging wine racks.

Our client sought a home imbued with a spirit of “joyousness” where elegant restraint was contrasted with a splash of theatricality. Guests enjoy descending the generous staircase from the upper level Entry, spiralling gently around a 12 m Blackbody pendant which rains down over the polished stainless steel Hervé van der Straeten Cristalloide console

余白のある家 本計画は京都市左京区にある閑静な住宅街の一角にある敷地で既存の建物を取り壊し、新たに新築する計画。周囲は、低層の住宅が立ち並んでいる。既存の建物も同計画と同じ三階建て住宅で、既存の3階部分からは、周囲が開け開放感のある景色を楽しむことができる敷地となっていた。この開放的な景色を楽しみ暮らすことのできる住宅を希望されたため、三階部分にリビングスペースを設ける計画とした。敷地北面には、山々が開け、南面は、低層の住宅街の奥に夏は花火が見える風景となっている。その景色を切り取るかのような開口部を設け、窓際にﾍﾞﾝﾁをつくり外との空間を繋げている。北側の窓は、出窓としキッチンスペースの一部として使用できるように計画とした。キッチンやリビングスペースの一部が外と繋がり開放的で心地よい空間となっている。 また、今回のクライアントは、20代であり今後の家族構成は未定である、また、自宅でリモートワークを行うため、居住空間のどこにいても、心地よく仕事ができるスペースも確保する必要があった。このため、既存の住宅のように当初から個室をつくることはせずに、将来の暮らしにあわせ可変的に部屋をつくれるような余白がふんだんにある空間とした。1Ｆは土間空間となっており、2Ｆまでの吹き抜け空間いる。現状は、広場とした外部と繋がる土間空間となっており、友人やペット飼ったりと趣味として遊べ、リモートワークでゆったりした空間となった。将来的には個室をつくったりと暮らしに合わせさまざまに変化することができる計画となっている。敷地の条件や、クライアントの暮らしに合わせるように変化するできる建物はクライアントとともに成長しつづけ暮らしによりそう建物となった。
