Visbeen ArchitectsA fresh take on a time-tested favorite can be risky, but the Carlton Shores design is an example of a risk worth taking. This sprawling cottage harkens back to the Arts & Crafts revival, while still managing to exude contemporary appeal. The home sits on the property like a great hunting lodge with its use of exposed wood trim and brackets. A striking array of windows gives the exterior an inviting look, as if to defy the elements and welcome nature right in.
Simplicity rules the interior of the home, leaving the dramatic decorating to the outside views. A creative use of natural materials, such as wood and marble, compliment the flora-and-fauna focus of the home’s aesthetic. Every wall is dominated by glass. Windows of every shape and size allow residents to take in their surroundings, while creating a spacious, open atmosphere. The curving wooden staircase with its high ceilings gives the impression you are climbing into the trees.
A soaring two-story vaulted ceiling covers the indoor pool area, which includes a kitchenette and sitting room. Glass doors open out to a vanishing pool and sundeck. All of this has been designed with the stunning lake vistas in mind. A beautiful deck and boardwalk lead from the house down to the shore, giving homeowners beach access.
FINNE ArchitectsThe all-steel stair floats in front of a 3-story glass wall. The stair railings have custom-designed perforations, cut with an industrial water-jet. The top railing is sapele.
Destination LivingThis cutting edge home was designed to create a strong bond with the internal spaces and external landscape while accommodating a personal art collection. Incorporating Feng Shui principles and good use of solar orientation makes this a light, peaceful and harmonious home.
UserAdding a floating staircase supported by exposed black steel incorporates a modern detail that is visible on each floor. It is a key element in how the space around it was designed. The wood treads were stained to match the hardwood throughout to create s seamless transition from one floor to the next.

Horizon HomesJack’s Point is Horizon Homes' new display home at the HomeQuest Village in Bella Vista in Sydney.
Inspired by architectural designs seen on a trip to New Zealand, we wanted to create a contemporary home that would sit comfortably in the streetscapes of the established neighbourhoods we regularly build in.
The gable roofline is bold and dramatic, but pairs well if built next to a traditional Australian home.
Throughout the house, the design plays with contemporary and traditional finishes, creating a timeless family home that functions well for the modern family.
On the ground floor, you’ll find a spacious dining, family lounge and kitchen (with butler’s pantry) leading onto a large, undercover alfresco and pool entertainment area. A real feature of the home is the magnificent staircase and screen, which defines a formal lounge area. There’s also a wine room, guest bedroom and, of course, a bathroom, laundry and mudroom.
The display home has a further four family bedrooms upstairs – the primary has a luxurious walk-in robe, en suite bathroom and a private balcony. There’s also a private upper lounge – a perfect place to relax with a book.

BGSDesignThe custom-made console staircase is the main feature of the house, connecting all 4 floors. It is lightened by a Thermo/lighting skylight and artificial light by IGuzzini Wall Washer & Trick Radial placed in the middle of several iron wire art pieces. The photometric characteristics of the radial lens create a projection of the art on the wall.
Andrew Mikhael Architect"Move an inch and the whole thing changes." This is what my photographer commented about the stair when he was shooting it. My client had bought the apartment below his and wanted to build a masculine and sleek home for himself. I imagined the stair as the focal point of the duplex - effortless with its connections hidden, as if it is simply touching the walls and floors around it. Ever changing as the flatness of the metal changes its appearance with every angle.

Elite Metalcraft Co. LtdThis high end contemporary Elm clad steel staircase over two floors has a very unique feature. The triple laminated glass balustrade panels are suspended above the staircase treads and risers using a specially designed hidden clamping system. It has an amazingly elegant appearance due to the slender profile of the stair treads and balustrade.

HOP! ArchIl disegno del vano scala ha consentito di creare un forte dialogo con l'ambiente esterno attraverso le ampie aperture finestrate, che incorniciano il paesaggio come opere d'arte. Le forme e i volumi sono semplici e integrati fra loro. La libreria su misura sotto gli infissi è incassata nel muro e accoglie le scale. Il mobile portavino diventa parapetto e poi corrimano.
StairworksThis project was a commercial law office that needed staircases to service the two floors. We designed these stairs with a lot of influence from the client as they liked the industrial look with exposed steel. We stuck with a minimalistic design which included grip tread at the top and a solid looking balustrade. One of the staircases is U-shaped, two of the stairs are L-shaped and one is a straight staircase. One of the biggest obstacles was accessing the space, so we had to roll everything around on flat ground and lift up with a spider crane. This meant we worked closely alongside the builders onsite to tackle any hurdles.
