Our brief for this new monolithic staircase was to look more like a piece of art than a staircase. The staircase sits in a Grade 2 listed building and complements the period interior beautifully! The once old makeshift staircase which accessed the former servant’s quarters of the property was transformed to give them access to the loft space which they had totally renovated. After sitting down with the Donohoe’s and looking through mood boards, we came up with this design and colour wash. The substrate of the staircase was made from solid oak with our new arctic white wash finish, giving it a clean, fresh Scandinavian look. A fresh take on a time-tested favorite can be risky, but the Carlton Shores design is an example of a risk worth taking. This sprawling cottage harkens back to the Arts & Crafts revival, while still managing to exude contemporary appeal. The home sits on the property like a great hunting lodge with its use of exposed wood trim and brackets. A striking array of windows gives the exterior an inviting look, as if to defy the elements and welcome nature right in. Simplicity rules the interior of the home, leaving the dramatic decorating to the outside views. A creative use of natural materials, such as wood and marble, compliment the flora-and-fauna focus of the home’s aesthetic. Every wall is dominated by glass. Windows of every shape and size allow residents to take in their surroundings, while creating a spacious, open atmosphere. The curving wooden staircase with its high ceilings gives the impression you are climbing into the trees. A soaring two-story vaulted ceiling covers the indoor pool area, which includes a kitchenette and sitting room. Glass doors open out to a vanishing pool and sundeck. All of this has been designed with the stunning lake vistas in mind. A beautiful deck and boardwalk lead from the house down to the shore, giving homeowners beach access.

This project is a transformation of a dilapidated three-unit apartment house into two modern, town-house style condominiums. The interiors are open, light-filled and oriented to enjoy the adjacent open space and views. Intimate outdoor spaces have been strategically located for views and privacy. The dwellings are Energy-Star certified, with estimated energy savings of 38% below conventionally built houses. Sustainable design features include: compact design; maximum daylighting; advanced building envelope design; a hybrid natural/mechanical cooling system; high efficiency mechanical systems and appliances; and non-toxic interior materials. Il vano scala è una scultura minimalista in cui coesistono ferro, vetro e legno. La luce lineare esalta il disegno orizzontale delle nicchie della libreria in cartongesso. Il mobile sottoscala è frutto di un progetto e di una realizzazione sartoriale, che qualificano lo spazio a livello estetico e funzionale, consentendo l'utilizzo di uno spazio altrimenti morto. Il parapetto in cristallo è una presenza discreta che completa e impreziosisce senza disturbare.

Jack’s Point is Horizon Homes' new display home at the HomeQuest Village in Bella Vista in Sydney. Inspired by architectural designs seen on a trip to New Zealand, we wanted to create a contemporary home that would sit comfortably in the streetscapes of the established neighbourhoods we regularly build in. The gable roofline is bold and dramatic, but pairs well if built next to a traditional Australian home. Throughout the house, the design plays with contemporary and traditional finishes, creating a timeless family home that functions well for the modern family. On the ground floor, you’ll find a spacious dining, family lounge and kitchen (with butler’s pantry) leading onto a large, undercover alfresco and pool entertainment area. A real feature of the home is the magnificent staircase and screen, which defines a formal lounge area. There’s also a wine room, guest bedroom and, of course, a bathroom, laundry and mudroom. The display home has a further four family bedrooms upstairs – the primary has a luxurious walk-in robe, en suite bathroom and a private balcony. There’s also a private upper lounge – a perfect place to relax with a book. Like all of our custom designs, the display home was designed to maximise quality light, airflow and space for the block it was built on. Le forme e i volumi sono semplici e integrati fra loro. La libreria su misura sotto gli infissi è incassata nel muro e accoglie le scale. Il mobile portavino diventa parapetto e poi corrimano.
