We took advantage of the double volume ceiling height in the living room and added millwork to the stone fireplace, a reclaimed wood beam and a gorgeous, chandelier. The staircase and catwalk formed a large part of the open plan living space. We updated the handrails and spindles with more contemporary square options which transformed the space.

Open wood stairs are such a great feature in a custom home. Add in some really unique railings and it creates quite a feature. I love the look of these stairs in the two tone.

Rodwin Architecture and Skycastle Homes Location: Boulder, Colorado, USA This 3,800 sf. modern farmhouse on Roosevelt Ave. in Louisville is lovingly called "Teddy Homesevelt" (AKA “The Ted”) by its owners. The ground floor is a simple, sunny open concept plan revolving around a gourmet kitchen, featuring a large island with a waterfall edge counter. The dining room is anchored by a bespoke Walnut, stone and raw steel dining room storage and display wall. The Great room is perfect for indoor/outdoor entertaining, and flows out to a large covered porch and firepit. The homeowner’s love their photogenic pooch and the custom dog wash station in the mudroom makes it a delight to take care of her. In the basement there’s a state-of-the art media room, starring a uniquely stunning celestial ceiling and perfectly tuned acoustics. Converted a tired two-flat into a transitional single family home. The very narrow staircase was converted to an ample, bright u-shape staircase, the first floor and basement were opened for better flow, the existing second floor bedrooms were reconfigured and the existing second floor kitchen was converted to a master bath.
