Omar is amazing. We had him design an pergola and patio space for us in 2019 and we loved it so much we hired him again. This time he is designing a whole house remodel (basement, bathrooms, kitchen, utility room, family room, etc.). We love the drawings and he even drew up custom cabinets to meet our specific needs.

Omar is exactly what you want from an architect. He's creative, great listener and thorough. As a result, he can take your idea and make it into a reality. He's also always there to answer a quick question and is quick with great referrals to help bring in trusted partners to your project. Omar is always welcomed over to enjoy the fruits of his labor at our fantastic screened-in porch and accompanying outdoor kitchen with built in BBQ. Thanks Omar!

I cannot say enough good things about Omar! From our very first conversation he made us feel like we were the lucky family on an HGTV show. Omar was fun, and clear, and helped us first-timers understand what we were getting ourselves into (without scaring us). We had big hopes for our space and he immediately "got it" and saw things we couldn't have dreamed of... and which we now enjoy on a daily basis. When we had "one more thing to add..." he smiled and made it happen. We could not be happier with our new kitchen, master bath, powder room, and mudroom. The flow is right, the spacing is right, and working with Omar was like working with family.

For many years my wife and I had dreamed of owning a home that would be the perfect place to raise our children as well as the right place to retire. It is very hard to find a home that is perfect, or close to what you want. We found that out quickly after looking at many homes, and the ones that were close were out of our budget. That’s when we decided to build our own home on a parcel of land we found in the perfect town. After visiting with a few architects, it was clear that Omar Gutierrez was the right one for us. He was more than willing to come out to meet us which was very thoughtful of our time. We had an opportunity to talk and get to know each other. He had a genuine interest to learn about us; our lifestyle, our likes, and dislikes, as well as our needs, now and in the future. This made us feel that he truly had an interest in us, and not in what would be easier for him. The initial design stage went very well, he was able to capture our vision of what we wanted our home to look and feel like, all within our budget. The revisions were seamless, he was accommodating in every way to our tweaks and changing thoughts. We could tell that he had done his research on the Village ordinances because he would mention them when something was or was not permitted. He was also great working with our contractors because they were able to solve discrepancies quickly and easily. He was always available to take our call at any time of the day and prioritized the completion of our home. I cannot stress enough that he was a great architect to work with. I would recommend him to anyone for any project. If we are ever in need of further architectural services we would definitely be calling Omar Gutierrez.

We hired Omar to renovate our builder basic condo in River North. As the homeowner and an interior designer, I cannot highly recommend Omar enough. Omar helped us navigate adding 2 second floor lofts to our single level space and successfully worked with the city in a difficult permitting process. We are thrilled with not only the results, but also his responsiveness, professionalism and creative ideas that contributed to a stunning and unique space.

We absolutely loved working with Omar. First, he is incredibly knowledgeable about the intersection of design and structural considerations. We appreciated his insight on the art of possible as we discussed options for our home. Second, he has a service mentality. He was always willing and able to bend over backwards for us as discussed options, made changes, processed ideas or even asked him to research additional alternatives beyond traditionally architectural considerations. Third, he was available and present during the building/renovation stages of the project to ensure the builders were executing as planned and to address surprises that inevitably turn up once building begins. Fourth, Omar was true to his word and his very reasonable costs. He never over charged, and we never had an issue related to billing or expenses. Lastly, Omar was incredibly respectful of our home and family, working around our crazy family life and interacting with our children. We are thrilled with the results and have no issues highly recommending Omar to anyone considering either a build or renovation project.

We hired Omar to do the plans for a remodel of a 1950's ranch house. We added a second story to the house with an A-frame type style. Omar designed an open space plan for us on the first floor with an expansive kitchen. He added a bedroom, bathroom and loft/study area on the second floor with the loft overlooking the lake and the living room below. It is beautiful! Omar was very easy to work with and was also very responsive. This was our first time doing this large of a project and I felt very comfortable working with Omar all the way from the design to the construction documents. I would recommend him highly for your project be it large or small.

Omar designed the architectural plans to convert our 2-flat into a single family home. He listened to our wants and needs, and came back with plans that surpassed what we could have imagined, while keeping our budget in mind. He was there as we needed him along the way, ensuring all plans were completed as required. The end result is a stunning, unique home that stands out in the market!

Truly spectacular architect - professional, friendly, responsive, did absolutely everything that was requested of him with the utmost care and attention to detail. It was a major remodel of an 100 year-old condo, and not only did he update the flow to recognize modern needs (i.e. the master bedroom didn't have an ensuite bath, which he then provided in his plans), it was all done quickly and without issue. I would absolutely work with Omar again, and would recommend him to anyone who is in need of a professional architect!

I am amazed at the results, as are all who have had the opportunity to see my basement remodel: bar, bathroom, bedroom, rec room, media room, office, and utility room. The metamorphosis of my basement is remarkable! Omar is a rare gem.
