This corner front Arcadia home just off Exeter was in need of a massive overhaul. The owner did incredible work on the interior and didn't compromise on the landscape project! The landscape was imbalanced, boring, dated, and dead. We transformed this home to be a showpiece within this iconic community of Arcadia. Our design incorporating white roses abounding, pops of lavender, new modern garden beds, while focusing on the iconic green grass with large Elm trees establishes this Modern Ranch Home as the stunning Arcadia home that was meant to be.

Techo-Bloc
This backyard landscape design is inspired by our Blu Grande Smooth patio slab. Perfect paving slab for modern poolsides and backyard design, Blu Grande Smooth is a large concrete patio stone available in multiple colors. It's smooth texture is sleek to the eye but rougher to the touch which avoids it from getting slippery when wet. The large rectangular shape works as an easy add-on into Blu 60 regular modular patterns but can also work as a stand-alone to create a very linear look. Check out the HD2 Blu Grande Smooth which is all about seamless looks with a tighter/poreless texture and anti-aging technology. Landscape Logic
Landscape Logic designed this small front yard in La Jolla, CA. We expanded the driveway with a flagstone walkway and softened the front with artificial turf. This yard now has great curb appeal that the owner was looking for. Simple yet elegant.
Castle Building & Remodeling
This modern home, near Cedar Lake, built in 1900, was originally a corner store. A massive conversion transformed the home into a spacious, multi-level residence in the 1990’s.
However, the home’s lot was unusually steep and overgrown with vegetation. In addition, there were concerns about soil erosion and water intrusion to the house. The homeowners wanted to resolve these issues and create a much more useable outdoor area for family and pets.
Castle, in conjunction with Field Outdoor Spaces, designed and built a large deck area in the back yard of the home, which includes a detached screen porch and a bar & grill area under a cedar pergola.
The previous, small deck was demolished and the sliding door replaced with a window. A new glass sliding door was inserted along a perpendicular wall to connect the home’s interior kitchen to the backyard oasis.
The screen house doors are made from six custom screen panels, attached to a top mount, soft-close track. Inside the screen porch, a patio heater allows the family to enjoy this space much of the year.
Concrete was the material chosen for the outdoor countertops, to ensure it lasts several years in Minnesota’s always-changing climate.
Trex decking was used throughout, along with red cedar porch, pergola and privacy lattice detailing.
The front entry of the home was also updated to include a large, open porch with access to the newly landscaped yard. Cable railings from Loftus Iron add to the contemporary style of the home, including a gate feature at the top of the front steps to contain the family pets when they’re let out into the yard.
Tour this project in person, September 28 – 29, during the 2019 Castle Home Tour!

The synthetic turf was laid down to keep debris and maintenance to a minimum around the pool. The homeowner wanted a variety of textures and colors to bring their backyard together.

Rows of globe boxwood and masses of creeping thyme and sedge grass run parallel to the street and highlight the front façade of the house.
A retaining wall of Corten steel slices through the vegetation to create a striking juxtaposition of textures as well as a clear delineation between public and private space.
Concrete steps lead up to and through the wall, their cantilevered construction making them appear to float atop the landscape.

To compliment the home's minimalistic style, the front landscape consists of elevated poured concrete borders, straight, clean and formal lines that are accentuated with decorative, architectural pots to create a clean, modern entry to the home.
