We hired Amy Martin to redesign the landscape of our newly purchased spec home. We worked together to develop a master plan that incorporated our ideas and more importantly her creativity. She then guided us through a phased implementation, material selection, and budgeting. We engaged Amy Martin to help us to overhaul the landscaping on our first "adult" house. We moved out of a small condo in Boston to a large (at least for us!) property in Cohasset and felt very overwhelmed by the prospect of having to figure out all of the landscaping upgrades that were needed, determine what changes to make and what aesthetic to adopt, engage the right professionals to do the work, etc. Enter Amy Martin. She made everything extremely easy for us. She listened to our high level thoughts and somehow managed to translate them into an actual, executable design. She brought in the right landscaping team and basically acted as a project manager to make sure that everything stayed on track and was completed in keeping with our vision. Any time that we had questions or concerns about things, Amy was quick to step in, translate our concerns for the landscaper and make sure that things kept moving in the right directions. When adjustments were needed, Amy did this quickly and gracefully. This was a large project - we took down giant trees, re-graded and re-seeded the lawn, knocked down and rebuilt a retaining wall, and overhauled a walkway and two entrance stoops. We absolutely could not have done this without Amy. For people with limited bandwidth and landscaping experience, she was a life saver. And now that the project is over, Amy's team is helping us with garden maintenance, seasonal arrangements and holiday lights. We couldn't ask for more!

We have been working with Amy Martin since 2013, when she did a Master Plan for the coastal home we had just purchased. The existing landscape was overgrown and messy, and required updates to allow for a secure play area for our children. From the moment I called Amy, I knew she was the right person for our special landscape project. We had an old stone foundation that remained from an early (and now gone) 1800’s barn in our backyard. My imaginative 9 year old daughter has a fascination with secret gardens, and I thought we could convert this old foundation into one. I made a few calls to different landscape architects and Amy right away embraced the special spirit of what we were trying to do. She said we should involve my daughter in the process and that she did. Amy and one of her designers, Ruth. Worked with me and my daughter and brought us ideas and inspirations we could never have come up with on our own. They created a romantic and magical secret garden, with seating areas, Stone walkways and little meadows all encased behind a fence with an arbor. They brought creativity and attention to detail that I never could have done on my own. They listened, adapted and collaborated for this magical little delight. I am so glad I found them!!!! the project entailed expanding the garden space with new flowers, bushes and tree as well as transplanting present items. amy has a great sense of design allowing for terrific variety and color. in a addition to the actual design and planting she provides an excellent maintenance program. i am thoroughly pleased with everything and am looking forward to the spring which will bring the reality of a french gardenscape reminiscent of a beautiful painting to life.

Nine years ago my husband and I built our dream home. We were confident in our ability to build a home that would delight us for years to come. We were not as confident when it came to designing the landscaping-- the finishing touch. We interviewed several landscape designers and hired Amy Martin. Amy was approachable, creative and practical. We explained that we would need to be on the "ten year" plan... we simply could not afford to complete all of the necessary work at once. Amy started the creative process by listening to our wants and needs and was undeterred by some of our somewhat unusual suggestions-- I hate pink-- so no pink flowers, a floating deck, a suspended fire pit, a sunken hot tub, low maintenance, a minimalist feel, somewhat structural--- we didn't want a typical New England garden. Amy developed a magnificent design that we have been chipping away at for the past eight years. We chose Amy and her team to work on the redesign and project management of our outside space. Amy Martin designed and supervised the installation of a completely new front yard landscape here. This included carefully selected tree removals, plantings, irrigation, pathways, and a new cedar fence. Amy turned out to be the perfect choice. We hired Amy for a number of projects at our new house. Projects included well designed privacy plantings, a small front seating area, a granite patio with granite block seating and walkway, and a major re-grading of the sloped yard, a modern seating area in the woods, and extensive planting of many native species to border our protected wetlands. She also lent her great taste to a few other projects including choosing a beautiful fence, a trash screen area and under deck skirting. All of her people are top notch talents AND really really nice people. She helped transform our problematic yard into a truly beautiful place. Amy (and associate Tish) led the discussion of ideas for our small pond and yard area (where the remainder of our trees blew down this winter). Since we have a lot of ledge in the area it was going to be difficult to root new trees. Amy provided a colorful, very comprehensive design with suggestions for trees and shrubs that would work in the area of ledge and as perimeter plantings. The ledge is bounded by an ancient stone foundation which we wished to preserve. Amy suggested a landscaper that was highly qualified, mature and very good to work with. They amended the soil, installed the trees and shrubs and added sod where required. Amy provided consulting services during construction and also suggested an irrigation plan to which we agreed. She was very responsive and a good communicator in a timely fashion. Come spring we plan to add more plantings to the scenario. All in all it's a beautiful layout and one which we admire everyday.
