Modern meets contemporary in this large open wet room. The shower bench blends seamlessly using the same tile as both the ensuite floor and shower tile. To its left a wood look feature wall is seen to add a natural element to the space. The same wood look tile is utilized in the shower niche created on the opposing wall. A large deep free standing tub is set in the wet room beside the curbless shower.

The master bath seen here is compact in its footprint - again drawing from the local boat building traditions. Tongue and groove fir walls conceal hidden compartments and feel tailored yet simple. The hanging wall cabinet allow for a more open feeling as well. The shower is given a large amount of the floor area of the room. A curb-less configuration with two shower heads and a continuous shelf. The shower utilizes polished finishes on the walls and a sandblasted finish on the floor. This bathroom renovation was commissioned by two doctors who wanted a serene space to come home to and relax. Their pre-renovation bathroom suffered from an inefficient layout and did not convey the elegance or tranquility that our clients desired. We used four zones to define the open space of the room: private toilet, vanity, wet room, and storage wall. We created a calming and elegant environment through the use of surface materials, color, light, and fixtures. Two new skylights allow natural light to wash the white walls conveying clarity and peace into the heart of the room. Materials used include walnut wall and ceiling panels, slate countertop, white enameled casework, and an enclosed glass wet room.

This top-to-bottom renovation of a 1930’s Seattle home created an intriguing dialogue across time as the fresh, modern spirit of the renovation work acted to complement the more traditional home. A major, two-story addition was placed on the south side of the house, containing a stunning master bath and closet on the upper floor and a window-filled study on the ground floor. A dramatic, three-story stair hall was created in the center of the house, with a delicate new stair railing featuring laser-cut steel vertical supports. A sensuous, 8-ft. long custom fused glass light fixture was suspended over the new stairwell. The attic of the house was entirely reframed, allowing generous views and natural light to fill every room. Sustainable design ideas were present from the beginning. Every exterior wall and roof was insulated to the maximum extent possible. Groundsource wells were drilled to produce heat exchange and reduce both heating and cooling energy demand. Gas consumption has been reduced by about 90% A 3.4 kilowatt array of photovoltaic panels was placed on the roof. Radiant floor heating, low VOC paint, recycled wood flooring, VG Fir insulated windows and LED lighting were also included. Of course, the fact of the renovation itself is inherently sustainable, reclaiming all the embedded energy in the original 80-year-old house, which is now a wonderful combination of old and new.

モダンスタイルのマスターバスルームリフォームのデザイン、レイアウト、費用

マスターバスルームリフォームの技法には大きく分けて「在来工法」と「ユニットバス (システムバス)」の2通りがあります。

在来工法：「在来工法」とは、壁、床、窓枠、浴槽などを実際の現場で左官、大工、タイル職人等が作り上げていく技法で、マスターバスルームの大きさや形に合わせて自由にレイアウトをデザインできたり、趣のあるタイルで壁を演出することができたりといった点が利点と言えます。昔ながらのこの技法には、費用が高い、工期が長い、年数が経つと水漏れの心配がある、などの注意点があります。
ユニットバス（システムバス）：比較的新しいこの技法は、予め工場で生産されたパーツ (壁、バスタブ、シャワーユニットなど) を現場で組み立てていく技法で、防水性、断熱性に優れ、工期を短縮できるだけでなく、費用も大幅に抑えることができます。在来工法と比べると、デザインやレイアウトの自由度が低い点が欠点としてあげられます。

ホテルライクなバスルームに誰しもが憧れたことがあるでしょう。すっきりとした収納、余計なものやプライベート感がない、トイレとバスが一緒の三点ユニットでも清潔感があるのがホテルのバスルームの特徴です。このようなシンプルな印象のバスルームにするコツは、収納をできるかぎり1カ所にまとめるということです。タオルや着替え、トイレットペーパーや洗剤など溢れがち (しかもバスルームに置きがち) な日用品のストックは、必要分だけをコンパクトに整理して、同素材や同系色の収納ボックスやラックにまとめることで、全体を統一感ある印象に見せます。ところで、このようなホテルライクなバスルームはアメリカのバスルームが元になっていますが、アメリカの Houzz サイトの特集記事 (Story) には、“Bathroom 1 1/2” や “Bathroom 3/4” などと表記されているものがあります。これは、バスルームを「バスタブ」、「シャワー」、「トイレ」、「洗面台」の4つ分けて、それぞれ 1/4 と考え、4つすべてある場合は ”Bathroom 1”、それに加えてトイレと洗面台がもう1カ所ずつある場合は “Bathroom 1 1/2”、シャワー、トイレ、洗面台だけでバスタブがない場合は “Bathroom 3/4” のように表現されます。
