This 1960s home was in original condition and badly in need of some functional and cosmetic updates. We opened up the great room into an open concept space, converted the half bathroom downstairs into a full bath, and updated finishes all throughout with finishes that felt period-appropriate and reflective of the owner's Asian heritage.

Our Austin studio decided to go bold with this project by ensuring that each space had a unique identity in the Mid-Century Modern style bathroom, butler's pantry, and mudroom. We covered the bathroom walls and flooring with stylish beige and yellow tile that was cleverly installed to look like two different patterns. The mint cabinet and pink vanity reflect the mid-century color palette. The stylish knobs and fittings add an extra splash of fun to the bathroom. The butler's pantry is located right behind the kitchen and serves multiple functions like storage, a study area, and a bar. We went with a moody blue color for the cabinets and included a raw wood open shelf to give depth and warmth to the space. We went with some gorgeous artistic tiles that create a bold, intriguing look in the space. In the mudroom, we used siding materials to create a shiplap effect to create warmth and texture – a homage to the classic Mid-Century Modern design. We used the same blue from the butler's pantry to create a cohesive effect. The large mint cabinets add a lighter touch to the space. --- Project designed by the Atomic Ranch featured modern designers at Breathe Design Studio. • Semi-custom textured laminate cabinetry with shaker-style doors • Laminate countertop with space to fold clothes, Blanco Silgranit sink, both are resistant to scratches, stains, and heat making them perfect for the laundry room. • Room serves as overflow kitchen storage area along with an additional refrigerator for our chef, always ready to entertain! • Complementary vinyl plank floors resemble the engineered flooring in the rest of the house with the added durability of vinyl.

We love to be challenged so when we were approached by these clients about a design "from the era" we couldn't resist! There is nothing worse than removing character and charm from a home. The clients wanted their retro beach shack to have the modern comforts of today's lastest technologies hidden behind design features of the original design of the home. Beautiful terrazzo bench tops, laminated plywood, matt surfaces and soft-close hardware make this space warm and welcoming. Giving a home new life through clever design to achieve the result as if it was meant to be all along is one of the most rewarding projects you can do and we LOVED IT!

Here is an architecturally built house from the early 1970's which was brought into the new century during this complete home remodel by opening up the main living space with two small additions off the back of the house creating a seamless exterior wall, dropping the floor to one level throughout, exposing the post an beam supports, creating main level on-suite, den/office space, refurbishing the existing powder room, adding a butlers pantry, creating an over sized kitchen with 17' island, refurbishing the existing bedrooms and creating a new master bedroom floor plan with walk in closet, adding an upstairs bonus room off an existing porch, remodeling the existing guest bathroom, and creating an in-law suite out of the existing workshop and garden tool room.

Installed wood-look porcelain tile throughout, ceiling fans and light fixtures, windows. Electrical rewiring. Removed soffit in kitchen. Installed new cabinets, granite, backsplash, appliances. Repaired and repainted walls.

This laundry room showcases a chic and sophisticated design with a functional layout. The deep navy cabinetry, adorned with sleek hardware, adds a bold and elegant contrast to the white backsplash and countertops. The louvered cabinet doors are both aesthetically pleasing and practical, allowing for ventilation. A large, single basin sink with a modern faucet stands ready for laundry prep or hand-washing delicate items. The washer and dryer are front-loading, emphasizing the room's modern feel. A dark, open shelving unit to the right offers easily accessible storage for baskets, towels, and jars, while contributing to the room's contemporary look. The herringbone patterned wooden floor brings warmth and a classic touch to the overall design, enhancing the room's refined aesthetic.
