This newly remodeled Kitchen features a mix of classic two tone shaker cabinetry with the modern accent of quarter sawn white oak slab front Euro style cabinetry which hides a utility closet, provides a coffee bar and hidden pantry in a sleek wall of gorgeous cabinets. This white oak cabinet is balanced across the room with the table end of the island which heavy duty white oak butcherblock top intersects the quartzite waterfall edge of the island.

The owner's of this Mid-Century Modern home in north Seattle were interested in developing a master plan for remodeling the kitchen, family room, master closet, and deck as well as the downstairs basement for a library, den, and office space. Once they had a good idea of the overall plan, they set about to take on the priority project, the kitchen, family room and deck. This kitchen in a Mid-century modern home features rift-cut white oak and matte white cabinets, white quartz countertops and a marble-life subway tile backsplash. The original hardwood floors were saved to keep existing character. The new finishes palette suits their personality and the mid-century details of their home. We eliminated a storage closet and a small hallway closet to inset a pantry and refrigerator on the far wall. This allowed the small breakfast table to remain. By relocating the refrigerator from next to the range, we allowed the range to be centered in the opening for more usable counter and cabinet space on both sides. A counter-depth range hood liner doesn’t break the line of the upper cabinets for a sleeker look. Large storage drawers include features like a peg system to hold pots in place and a shallow internal pull-out shelf to separate lids from food storage containers.

We revamped this 1960's Mid-Century Valley Glen home, by transforming its wide spacious kitchen into a modern mid-century style. We completely removed the old cabinets, reconfigured the layout, upgraded the electrical and plumbing system of the kitchen. We installed 6 dimmable recessed light cans, new GFI outlets, new switches, and brand-new appliances. We moved the stovetop's location opposite from its original location for the sake of space efficiency to create new countertop space for dining. Relocating the stovetop required creating a new gas line and ventilation pipeline. We installed 56 linear feet of beautiful custom flat-panel walnut and off-white cabinets that house the stovetop refrigerator, wine cellar, sink, and dishwasher seamlessly. The cabinets have beautiful gold brush hardware, self-close mechanisms, adjustable shelves, full extension drawers, and a spice rack pull-out. There is also a pullout drawer that glides out quietly for easy access to store essentials at the party. We installed 45 sq. ft. of teal subway tile backsplash adds a pop of color to the brown walnut, gold, and neutral color palette of the kitchen. The 45 sq. ft. of countertop is made of a solid color off-white custom-quartz which matches the color of the top cabinets of the kitchen. Paired with the 220 sq. ft. of natural off-white stone flooring tiles, the color combination of the kitchen embodies the essence of modern mid-century style.

The original kitchen in this 1968 Lakewood home was cramped and dark. The new homeowners wanted an open layout with a clean, modern look that was warm rather than sterile. This was accomplished with custom cabinets, waterfall-edge countertops and stunning light fixtures. The owners of this true mid-century ranch in Wheaton were ready for a kitchen update. The home’s main living room area is decorated in a very cool, sparse way with plenty of nods to mid-century design. A new kitchen would need to bridge classic and modern notions of Mid-Century expression through the style’s characteristic clean lines and artistic notions of simplicity and straightforward functionality. The idea was to keep a hint of mid-century influence in a modern design that could somehow be more open while accommodating more storage The objectives were: • Stay within the existing space while creating an open feel and winning more storage room • Make the space brighter while using a darker cabinet finish • Create proper ventilation for the range Design challenges we solved for: • Open the kitchen to the adjacent dining room without sacrificing storage • Remove multiple layers of flooring to make the kitchen floor level with the rest of the house • Match the new kitchen flooring to the flooring in nearby dining and living spaces Problems solved. Here’s what we did: • Took out soffits around the kitchen to allow for taller cabinets with more storage • Added cabinet pull-outs that maximize under-cabinet storage space • Used large cabinets in standard sizes • Skipped cabinets on the window wall, opting for space- and light-friendly floating shelves • Enhanced overall brightness with bright, white counters and textured white tile that offered a connecting contrast to the darker woodgrain cabinets • Took out a post between the kitchen and dining room to make the space feel more open • Added under-cabinet lights – unobtrusive and handy for task lighting The owners love the look, feel and functionality of their new kitchen. Its sleek, modern character and notions of mid-century spirit add new excitement to the home’s original 1958 personality.
