リビングルームは琵琶湖を見るために設計されたもの。高い吹き抜けに設けられた窓のおかげで、空も琵琶湖も見える開放感あふれる空間になっています。壁はシリカライムで左官仕上げにしました。消臭性能が高い自然素材でつくられた左官材料で、今後犬を買う予定のこのお部屋にぴったりです。薪ストーブはバーモントキャスティングス社のデファイアント。大きな薪もそのまま入ります。

The unique opportunity and challenge for the Joshua Tree project was to enable the architecture to prioritize views. Set in the valley between Mummy and Camelback mountains, two iconic landforms located in Paradise Valley, Arizona, this lot “has it all” regarding views. The challenge was answered with what we refer to as the desert pavilion. This highly penetrated piece of architecture carefully maintains a one-room deep composition. This allows each space to leverage the majestic mountain views. The material palette is executed in a panelized massing composition. The home, spawned from mid-century modern DNA, opens seamlessly to exterior living spaces providing for the ultimate in indoor/outdoor living. We took advantage of the double volume ceiling height in the living room and added millwork to the stone fireplace, a reclaimed wood beam and a gorgeous, chandelier. The sliding doors lead out to the sundeck and the lake beyond. TV's mounted above fireplaces tend to be a little high for comfortable viewing from the sofa, so this tv is mounted on a pull down bracket for use when the fireplace is not turned on. Floating white oak shelves replaced upper cabinets above the bar area.
