Our clients desired an organic and airy look for their kitchen and living room areas. Our team began by painting the entire home a creamy white and installing all new white oak floors throughout. The former dark wood kitchen cabinets were removed to make room for the new light wood and white kitchen. The clients originally requested an "all white" kitchen, but the designer suggested bringing in light wood accents to give the kitchen some additional contrast. The wood ceiling cloud helps to anchor the space and echoes the new wood ceiling beams in the adjacent living area. To further incorporate the wood into the design, the designer framed each cabinetry wall with white oak "frames" that coordinate with the wood flooring. Woven barstools, textural throw pillows and olive trees complete the organic look. The original large fireplace stones were replaced with a linear ripple effect stone tile to add modern texture. Cozy accents and a few additional furniture pieces were added to the clients existing sectional sofa and chairs to round out the casually sophisticated space.

For this ski-in, ski-out mountainside property, the intent was to create an architectural masterpiece that was simple, sophisticated, timeless and unique all at the same time. The clients wanted to express their love for Japanese-American craftsmanship, so we incorporated some hints of that motif into the designs. The high cedar wood ceiling and exposed curved steel beams are dramatic and reveal a roofline nodding to a traditional pagoda design. Striking bronze hanging lights span the kitchen and other unique light fixtures highlight every space. Warm walnut plank flooring and contemporary walnut cabinetry run throughout the home.

We went for an elevated casual vibe in this open concept living room. Casual sofas from Moss Studio, an oversized coffee table from Uttermost, swivel chairs and poufs from Bernhardt and draperies in Pindler fabric. All in soft neutrals with touches of blue.

Kaplan Architects, AIA Location: Redwood City , CA, USA The main living space is a great room which includes the kitchen, dining, and living room. Doors from the front and rear of the space lead to expansive outdoor deck areas and an outdoor kitchen.

This living room was completely transformed into a new space with the removal of the existing fireplace surround. We hand selected the colors to be used on the tiles to create a cohesive look from the kitchen to the family room. Faux beams and an amazing chandelier give this home a more Mediterranean feel.

"Obviously, this room is set up for symmetry," Mona notes. "In long living rooms, you often have so much space in the middle that you can't get the perfect sofa or coffee table, but you can do pairs." The focal point, a wood-burning fireplace, heats the house efficiently. "Since I work from home and like to split wood, this was a must have for me," one of the home owners says. "Because it's sealed you can keep it going all day and the heaters rarely come on." This home in Napa off Silverado was rebuilt after burning down in the 2017 fires. Architect David Rulon, a former associate of Howard Backen, known for this Napa Valley industrial modern farmhouse style. Composed in mostly a neutral palette, the bones of this house are bathed in diffused natural light pouring in through the clerestory windows. Beautiful textures and the layering of pattern with a mix of materials add drama to a neutral backdrop. The homeowners are pleased with their open floor plan and fluid seating areas, which allow them to entertain large gatherings. The result is an engaging space, a personal sanctuary and a true reflection of it's owners' unique aesthetic. Inspirational features are metal fireplace surround and book cases as well as Beverage Bar shelving done by Wyatt Studio, painted inset style cabinets by Gamma, moroccan CLE tile backsplash and quartzite countertops.
